I cannot believe I purchased D2 on PC. D1 after a month and a half after release left me so upset at the lack of story and obvious grind mechanic and here I go again. I am the fool. Where are my clown shoes, cause I got some tripping to do.

What grind?
Most on PC will be 280+ by Wednesday afternoon, every Alternative character add +5 Power Level. So by the end of the week theyre at PL 295+.
PL is just used as a gatekeeping mechanic for activities. 240 for NF, 270 for Raid, 300 for Prestige version.
Problem is there's no end game. There's early and mid game, once you go past 295+, there's really no big hurdle unless you really want to be 305 on all 3 Guardians as quickly as possible.
You login reset day, do your Milestones and that's it.
Raid for most now Normal version is just stockpiling. Prestige you want to run with a dedicated few, a static or a clique your associated with. The rewards cycle literally isn't cyclical. It's not feeding into anything. Most are chasing sets for Dresstiny purposes.
Look at this shit:
http://destinytracker.com/destiny/reports/daily-population
Game is losing players hella quick. Iron Banner did jack n shit to keep hold. Someone on reddit showed COD had this same graph, BUT, it took 6 months for CODS to reach these thresholds, Destiny 6 weeks!
Bungie doesn't like player retention I guess and by the way there outlook is to have "Seasons" be more about Cosmetics shows there not in tune with what the community wants.
By GraveRobberX Go To PostWhat grind? To be fair there was no Trials this week.

By Ignotum Go To PostOT for PC?If you think it's worth splitting the OT's then sure, go ahead and make one. I personally feel like we should be okay to push into this existing thread but at the same time I do see some stuff obviously changing because of the platform and the potential for late-game discussion earlier than when PC players may be up to.
By GraveRobberX Go To PostWhat grind?Bro, come on. We are all aware of the games lack of grind. We've covered it already.

Games is still fun as fuck. Fixes and updates will come, there is no need for the constant stream of negativity.
There are new players coming through on pc, if you want to help them through for the next week or two..
Can’t wait to get home tomorrow after work and play some D2 destiny.
Lack of grind isn’t an issue when I plan to actually play crucible like I played modern warfare back in the day. Remember when 12 maps kept people going for years and now we beg for something to constantly drag it time.
I like set rolls
I like the system in place
Grind is not needed to enjoy a game. You don’t need to revolve your life around destiny 2 and that’s fantastic....it allows me to play other games for a few weeks and then play new content when it releases.
Also helps with balancing the pvp with set rolls

By DY_nasty Go To Postcrota was at least fun (at some points) and fast. the cabal ads feel like a chore at times
it feels like calus is all mechanics, all the time.
By Inflatablemidget Go To PostCrota is my 2nd least favorite, but it was still fun to run with a group. As opposed to this raid where there's 7 chests and only one guaranteed drop. And if you want more coins(YAY LOVE THE COIN SYSTEM) you have to get another group of people to go through the tedious effort of collecting them in the underbelly. I can't believe Bungie thought that was good game design. It gets a lot easier if you just learn the underbelly tunnels. I skip the door openings and just go straight to the encounter doors through the underbelly. Highly recommend it.
Oh for anyone who may not visit AusSL&ENT I was able to successfully redeem CDKeys APAC version perfectly fine here in Australia, on elcheapo for $54AUD.

I beg your pardon?
Also, should I play through the intro a few times to decide which char I want?
I mean, I did play the beta but I'm still not sure.

By Laboured Go To PostAre there class specific weapons then? All I know there is a sword for Hunter exclusively.
By Laboured Go To PostAre there class specific weapons then?Swords, grenade launchers, portal shotgun thing, a laser rifle, sniper rifles, handcannons, pulse rifles, scout rifles, auto rifles and side arms.
There are class specific swords, if you are going titan then go for the sword called 'Crownsplitter' it's basically the mastersword from legend of zelda. It even has the same move sets.

It's great for trolling in the crucible, needs to be rejigged, but genuinely one of the more unique weapons in there along with the coldheart
I feel like having a list of good legendary weapons will be useful for pc players so they don’t dismantle them, anyone volunteering? :P

I'm especially interested in hearing about weapons that will turn me into a goddam sexual tyrannosaurus.
Weekly reset has happened
Nightfall: the Arms Dealer

Not sure about the raid rotation though.

By Laboured Go To PostSo are legendaries sometimes/always better than exotics?Yep to both. Most exotics are pretty useless.
Legendaries are the purple ones right?
Try and get a feel for what type of gun best suits your play style. A lot of people swear by hand cannons, but I just can't use them. I much prefer Scout rifles, but a lot of other players I play with are all about Auto's. You should get the chance to try out all of them thoroughly enough in the campaign.
DestinyGAF was pretty much the only reason I kept going to GAF over the last couple of years after FootyGAF was purged. I hope a lot of those guys find their way here.

Hand cannons in PvE is all good, like Sunshot or Better Devils, but in PvP they are weak and need a buff in my eyes.
The other thing for PC players (or new players in general) is to keep at least five scout rifles in your vault that are rare or better. You'll save yourself a lot of time, you need five for a quest but if you run more than one character, obviously hold more.

You'll get a bunch of exotics from random blue shielded quests around the planets. Save these quests later because you'll get a max lvl 305 exo when you're high enough lvl.

-Hawthrone’s Field-Forged Shotgun (power shotgun)
-Tone Patrol (energy scout)

-Tarantula (one of the few linear fusion rifles, they are great and fun to use)
-Play of the Game (surprisingly a good grenade launcher)
It wouldn't be that hard to add more grind while also making the game not feel like it's basically a part time job. All you need is a few armor sets, legendary weapons and exotics that are unique and require significant grind. Boom--you've awarded the one percent and given them something to do. Also, they need to seriously revamp the way their raid armor is working. I suggested in the past--you should require a full set of raid gear (sans an exotic piece) to make the prestige raid doable. Even if its a cheese perk like "reduce cabal ad damage by 30%", "increase calus damage by 25%", etc. It'd just be really nice to have a REASON for certain armor pieces in this game. And I've suggested that the prestige armor should always be the absolute best armor in the game for that "era" or "year" of the game. Have it have some really beefy exclusive perks, but balance that by making it so it has limitations in terms of infusion so you can't just bring it through every future expansion.
Jumping in tonight. Never played D1 (outside of the beta), so I'm quite excited. I have 0 idea how the game works though, outside of "shoot them in the head". So I hope the different items, currencies etc etc are all well explained

In all honesty, I really enjoy PvE games where I can run with others and just blow stuff up. I recently just got Killing Floor 2 and been living it up there on PC.
Apologies that I got the grind game information wrong in D2. There were posts by people playing on xbox and PS4 stating there was a grind to level up but from the detailed information posted here, it doesn't seem that bad at all. Thanks for posting in detail.
If you folks have a Discord channel for this game, would be great to join. Cheers!

Stuff is well explained enough, the only thing that may give you trouble is infusion.

By Grimsat Go To PostJust don’t go warlocks people, their jump is a joke.Yeah it's not a good jump, but thanks to the ability that lets you power up grenades, a warlock pretty much has two supers now. Only class I find to be completely useless is hunter. Finished leveling a titan last night (woohoo my 2nd Playstation platinum trophy ever), and I like it, but I feel more powerful on my warlock.
