I think what holds me back the most in this game is needing to LFG using third party apps to accomplish basically anything. And needing to apply 80 fukin mods , swap weapons, etc just for any kind of high end content.
Like it's getting fucking crazy man...just let me play the game.

Chicken or egg situation here. Have guardians and their memories always lived within the traveler, and ghosts are just "copying" or "projecting" that essence when they perform revives? Or is Cayde only there because of experiencing a final death?

You can't kill him off screen...
Probably need to pull a Rise of Skywalker and see if you can stitch some old and unused work together to send him out in a blaze of glory :(

Are the negative Steam reviews for the last expansion mostly about micro transactions or PVP (that I don't care about)? Is it worth $25 to play though the campaign?

WQ is still the best campaign tho. lightfall is merely very okay in comparison

There are gripes at super end game and also with the absolutely horrid UI, but the campaigns are very, very, very much worth playing through.
I mean we're all gonna buy it even if it's just to do the campaign and then turn it off. It's just a matter of investment.
They need to open damn near everything sans Raids to LFG and matchmaking. Really feels like a full time job having to get a decent group for the most basic of activities. Fucking legendary nightfalls requiring a group? Cmon.

Phase is right on the in-game LFG.
It’s not even coming next season. It’s coming at the end of the year. How do you run a multiplayer game this big without LFG for over 9 years.
Sometimes these mans move like absolute charlatans.

lmaoooo destiny washed was all the community could talk about now these numbers hitting and ppl look dumb as hell again
Aidan and I have been having fun with the game. We're going to do WQ and Lightfall over the next few weekends
By DY_nasty Go To PostDestiny embracing a horde/roguelike future only feels rightPlease explain or link.
By Kibner Go To PostPlease explain or link. There'll be a better video to describe it soon no doubt. But this current season had an activity where going deeper into a mission had checkpoints where enemies got stronger and you got to pick an individual power up, standard stuff. Rewards to match ofc.
This season is doubling up on that and final shape is likely going to make that type of thing an endgame adjacent to raids.
There's also been substantial additions to support/buildcrafting since you last played. It makes sense from the gameplay up finally.
It's a hell of a lot more new/returning players friendly now
Which is great because too many fucking games

Played a couple times last week. Never seen so many exotic engrams in my life. The game just passes them out like candy now. Got different seasonal/rep engrams out the butt too I need to still cash in. Even after crucible matches the game gives me seasonal engrams not just Shaxx stuff at each rank. Tons of vendors with a chance to buy a weapon/roll you're into as well and they (Zav/drifter/gunsmith etc) also got rank up engrams and progressional rewards. That stingy quality to getting gear and weapons is just gone it's delightful, really my only complaint is the vault is still a bullshit size.

anyone still playing just have some fun don't do anything serious though in case of rollback and stay away from crucible
Game kind of just became stale overnight. They could be doing some things better, but to me they need to put a skeleton crew on this thing, let it die, pivot to something else and drop Destiny 3 on a new engine at the start of the next console generation or something.
We need new Destiny.
Not more Destiny.
Still fun to shoot things but the new generation has caught up and given us more compelling experiences.
Still in for TFS tho.

Wish is some really, really low effort shit when it comes to weapons and stuff. Since its such a long season, I *might* come back around a month before TFS.
But they're not serious rn

It's Joever Pt. 2
Apparently Sony just straight up can snatch control of Bungie wholesale if revenue goals aren't met. New damning article from IGN.
TBH, even if Sony took over completely, there's nothing to do but to fire people, limit content releases for D2, and scale things towards what's manageable for profitability. Pretty much none of that is ideal for the player base.

.
Sony hired them for live service expertise.
They will simply ask them to do Destiny 3 instead of squeezing D2 still.
And honestly, thats what the game and playerbase needs.
Ideally yea but that would basically require them to put a skeleton crew on D2 in order to free up the man power for D3, where revenue would be expected to fall enough that Sony could potentially snatch everything, which the current leadership would be hell bent on preventing.
Maybe Marathon sales could keep them in the green enough to make D3 possible while remaining independent, but the episodes thing seemed like a lot of content.

Sony needs to clean house. The current leadership are willing fire more people if it means they stay in charge and that can’t be good for morale or the health of the game.
The failure of FF14 1.0 resulted in the original producer and director leaving the project.
But Destiny’s issue is goes to the top. It is the height of incompetence to have a dev studio of 1000+ supported solely on the back of a single game a ten year old one at that.
The second problem is bringing in new players. The in game LFG is a really good step in this direction.
Ultimately, Destiny 3 is the answer for the franchise. D2 is still on 2023 working from the framework of its 2014 and 2017 roots.
Marathon was revealed this year with no gameplay. 2025 makes sense.
