Baylor running back Silas Nacita became a fan favorite last season when he earned a walk-on roster spot with the Bears after spending a year at community college. Nacita got into Baylor with an academic scholarship, and at the time of his enrollment, he was homeless. According to Nacita, he has now been declared ineligible by the NCAA for allowing a close family friend to put him up in an apartment.

NCAA needs some serious reform, but every time it comes up and a story gains traction it's forgotten after a couple weeks.
By nathanFor a non-football expert, why the fuck is this not permitted?
It has nothing to do with football and everything to do with draconian NCAA eligibility rules. Essentially, you can't accept and gift, donation, money or even help from an outside party while participating in NCAA sports. Furthermore, you can't even sell things under your own name. Say, you make music as a hobby, the NCAA prohibits you from making money under your own legal name.
