I'm actually kinda pissed at MKX right now - these block strings are fucking insane. I'm gonna have to dedicate a day to just blocking. I swear most characters have some complete out-the-ass overhead/low/mid shit off of 2 that still leaves you getting chunks of your health knocked off. Just absurd.

Started Star Ocean 1. PSP is dead so I'm just playing it on emulator. Kinda feel bad about buying it now but what you gonna do.

Played about an hour in last night and.....I don't really like it. Going to try and stick it out until the game opens up a bit more but so far it's just not clicking with me.

I'm trying to keep in mind that it's an old game, but I'm not sure I can fuck with JRPGs that hide chests in houses and have save points in 2015.(Although the latter isn't so bad on an emulator with save states, which is what I've been using)

So far the battle system is just mash attack with hero. And only hero as the other characters in the game are alot weaker so far and the AI will just get the hero killed. Even field enemies do a crazy amount of damage per hit. Gotten punished for experimenting alot early on, which is another strike against it for me, but again I'm gonna keep going until I get a little more freedom to play how I want.

Gonna keep my story comments to myself at the moment and hope things get better

I think I have finally found my main. Sujani Jungle. Keep dying a lot, but I am making a lot of assists, but I don't know, if a jungles priorities is kills or assists.

I couldn't figure out for the life of me why Pokemon Rumble World on 3DS is so addicting. Then someone pointed out to me that it's basically Gauntlet with a Pokemon skin.

Looks like someone on Reddit has found a way to play as NPCs on MKX. Time will tell if those characters were intended to be (placeholders?) for DLC.

There are other files you can change to get stuff like Rain’s name under the health Bar but the only files I modded are in the “Assets” folder I believe; there should be 2 associated with Rain (Rain_A.xxx and another one I can’t remember but you can just search the folder for Rain)
Anyway, I backed up the files for Shinnok (the character I’m replacing) and renamed Rain’s files to match those associated with Shinnok’s 1st costume slot (CHAR_Shinnok_A.xxx and one other, the one that matches Rain’s other one) and moved ‘em to the folder and overwrote Shinnok’s old files with the newly renamed Rain files.
What you see is just me playing in training mode with what the game thinks is Shinnok but is using Rain’s model and moveset.

Especially his ults is quite devastating. The fact that he can also be exploited during team fights is unbelievable. His nerf was actually more effective early game, but late game, he was quite powerful.

PR guy sent me the code while I was driving to work. I'll have to add it and do the install while I'm asleep. I saw that PC Gamer just published its review today on my FB feed...a week to beat a game/determine its merits seems standard fare for the industry, but I might feel a bit intimidated by the sheer scope of the game.

Some folks are asking/expecting me to discuss the FPS mode and cinema modes. Because like with GTA IV, I intentionally avoided any and all details about this game. All I know is that it's a remake of GTA: SA like GTA IV was a remake of GTA III, and you can play as three dudes, and one is irrationally/illogically sociopathic, even for GTA standards.

A week to beat Witcher 3 sounds like a good recipe to be burned out on the game. Reminds me of a friend who went to this coding "bootcamp" and coded for 12hrs a day Monday-Sat for a month.

He became proficient at coding...then said "fuck coding" and never got a job in it lol.

Gears 1 MP's peak is only 1000 for both Ranked and Player while 3 usually gets up to 7K daily for Ranked/Player. I also prefer Gears 3 cover mechanics over Gears 1.

No doubt, the animations are hokey because it uses an old engine, but trust me, the voice acting (minus Geralt who is the most stoic character who ever was stoic, though he's much better in Witcher 2) and writing is why you are playing the game. My goodness, the writers had me shaking my head, laughing, and wondering about my own technical ability and I'm a professional. It's the best I've seen in gaming (Planescape: Torment pending a playthrough).

*old mutant white guy* in a world full of prejudices. Geralt is more akin to Magneto in that he is marginalized because he is innately a minority rather than yet another demonstration of the white man's innate superiority of everyone and every thing by virtue of being white. He certainly is more mobile among the world that dwarves, but you will find that he himself isn't exactly celebrated, but rather, looked upon as a necessary evil.

I BEG YOU GUYS AT LEAST PLAY THROUGH CHAPTER 2 OF WITCHER 1 if it doesn't catch by then, it just won't.

Great writing couldn't pull me through the asstacular presentation. The game isn't even that old. It came out less than a month before Uncharted 1, so my perception of game presentation was completely skewed by the time I picked it up. I just couldn't do it.

They should do a Witcher Humble Bundle just so I can play the 1st one for a dollar.

Tried playing Witcher 2 when it was free on XBL couple months ago. It's rare that a video game is that boring and unfun to play.

Either way, that game was the most overrated game I've ever played. Witcher series was one of the reasons why I wanted to get into PC gaming (this was before CDPR went multiplatform) and I'm just not that fond of the series. I plan on going back and giving 2 another shot, but I don't even think you could pay me to play the first one again.

Really, I could have a completely wrong perception of it because it's been so long, but it felt like your typical western RPG "checklist" game, where it was filled with a bunch of stuff that they had on a checklist full of features without paying attention how to put it all together into a cohesive package.

Witcher uses the Aurora engine. That's the same engine BioWare used to animate Neverwinter Nights. Engine was five years old, so yes, I agree that the presentation isn't AAA stellar, pretty please don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

There's a reason I use the term "presentation" instead of "graphics". WoW has an engine that's older than dirt, but their presentation is top-notch. It deals with interactions and UI and story progression and finding things to keep you connected to the world.

I wonder what yall thought of Baldur's Gate (2) or the original Fallout games (1 & 2). Or even Neverwinter Nights which was a spiritual successor to BG2. Or any of the Might and Magic games.

Perhaps what I am detecting is a distain for the uniquely CRPG format. Dragon Age and Mass Effect and Fallout (3, New Vegas) have spoiled folks with consoles because they are drastically...simplified...to offer an experience that isn't as arcane. Witcher borrows more from the CRPG than the WRPG.

I wouldn't compare Witcher side by side with any of those games really. Might & Magic maybe....

I always thought that Witcher tried to borrow a lot of ideas without realizing what the purpose behind those ideas actually was.
