Nope.
don't has a ps4 or xbone.
Will see what special packages come up around xmas. More likely to get one at the sales after though.
There just hasn't been anything compelling coming out making me desperate to get one.

Added a bunch of you last night but I was too drunk to play. I think my friends might've been playing Destiny while I was sleeping.
Tried out Xbox One Upload Studio for first time today. Put together 5 quick Destiny MP clips. Pretty straight forward. Supers are fun when you're the one using it not so much on the other side

MP is starting to grow on me but I don't know if that's because I prefer the XB1 controller layout..didn't really care for the MP when I played it in the PS4 Alpha.

Damn I guess I'm the only one here without a ps4 yet. Will prob get the white model by the end of the year.
I'm Vyer on XB1 for those that have a xbone

The white Destiny PS4 looks slick, but if that game's not your bag then yeah, there's no reason to get one yet. I got mine at the midnight launch and have barely played it. (Finished Killzone & Flower, did Ground Zeroes in an hour, a couple of local NBA games, dabbled with some other stuff). 90% of my use from it has been as a blu ray player and my girlfriend watching crunchyroll.
Wii U on the other hand, I've somehow spent close to a thousand hours on it according to the logs. Some of that is just me doing other stuff while it's on, but still. That thing in the business. It's the first Nintendo system I've really liked since the SNES.
On Destiny PS4 here and there. Theologyman as usual.
What a terrible name.
Also, remember that time we all bought Diablo 3 and never played it? Are we doing that again next month for PS4?

The launch of that game turned me off even after the patches didn't want to go back to it on PC. Checking it out on PS4 tho got it in gamefly q

The name was made when I was in seminary. Just don't care enough to change it. I'm out of the Destiny hype with the info that there is only one area on each planet.

I think people are really making a bigger deal out of it then it really is.

I don't have one either. I am going to beat my backlog of PS3 games before I consider a PS4 or Xbone:
Neir
Catherine
Ni No Kunai
(yet to be purchased)
The Last of Us
Beyond: Two Souls
PS4 will be $300 with games included before I get around to buying one.
yo smokey
im startin to learn hwo this BF game works
get at me lets eat sometime
Ive always been good at shooters but it just seems like cats be comin out the woodwork in BF...gettin sniped from places I can't anticipate or running into a tank out of nowhere...learning how to play my role and let others work now.

there's definitely a learning curve compared to other shooters but once you get it it's nice. so much is happening in a match from jets, choppers, boats etc that shit will eat you up if you're not aware.
have you tried the dragons teeth maps?
i might be up for some run this weekend in BF. i haven't played it in a while. been on a console kick lately. Got TitanFall for X1 from Gamefly....surprised how much I was enjoying it from brief play yesterday. New patch dropped today that is supposed to boost performance and fix tearing along with some new maps.

I'll have my PS4 by then, ID is m0nkeyhero.
Smokey, I'm also going to be picking up D3 for PS4 as well, does it have online co-op or is that local only?
No chance its local only. I don't see myself buying D3 at launch with Destiny right around the corner. Two loot games so close to each other doesn't sound like a good idea.
Apologies for not adding some of you guys during the Destiny Beta. I got sucked hard. Something like 40+ hours.
IDK how long yall have been gaming, but if companies said that they'd charge you $300+ to play the upgraded versions of a bunch of games from the previous generation, the gaming industry would crash. Actually, if you research gaming before the NES, the industry *did* crash because of that very reason: too many clones of the same stuff.
This gen, it seems that gamers are eating that stuff up. Between Tomb Radier: Definitive Edition, TLoU: Remastered, Halo Collection, and RE-REmake, it seems that that is what this gen is about. I guess I'm just an outsider looking in like, "wut."

Those types of games getting the remake/master treatment is really no different than what you see in the box office though.
I don't bother with them unless I missed them or got bored with them the first time around. Like, the improvements in the Wind Waker remake totally saved that game for me. Likewise, I've never finished the first Resident Evil because it felt too archaic by the time I got into the series. But I don't think I'll be getting TLOU any time soon. Once I finished that game once, I was done with it.
But on the whole I think it's a good thing. It's a safe way for big studios to raise cash at a time when development is crazy expensive and a bad release can sink them. You can safely ignore them if you don't care, but if there's something you want to check out the improvements and new visuals are a good incentive. Like, I really hope they do an HD Xenoblade or Prime Trilogy remake.

That's what Red Box is for. On our way home from seeing Guardians tonight, I was like "Hey, didn't Spider Man 2 come out? I didn't even know."
Looking forward to that $1.50 rental or whatever it is.
I don't see an issue with re-releases. It's like complaining about Director's Cuts on Blu-Ray.
I have like one Blu-Ray movie. I still have not seen Watchmen with Tales of The Black Freighter put back in.

I would buy Mario Galaxy HD collection.
Still utterly addicted to Spelunky.
I'm getting good enough to consistently get to Olmec, but I have yet to beat more than one level of Hell.
Fantastic game. Legitimately one of my favorites of all-time.

if i was allowed to tell you that Bayonetta 2 is pretty awesome, i would.
unfortunately i'm not.
I bought Bayonetta 1 for $10. Played for an hour or two and really like it. I might do a "support buy" for the first time in my life with the Bayo 1/2 combo for the Wii U.
TBQH, I don't really like a lot of the games that GAF drools over. Vanquish was flashy but didn't seem to have depth to me unless I wasn't "doing it right." IDK, I think I've just played too many games and I'm hard to impress these days. Then again, I loved Heavy Rain and GAF seems to be ambivalent about it. Creative envy? IDK.

Vanquish takes a while to "get", usually you have to play on the higher difficulty modes because then you can't just mash buttons and win.
Did you play W101? I guess it's the same there.
As far I know, people don't do a good job of explaining Vanquish (and part of that is on the devs too). There's a LOT that can be done with that cancelling system and switching between weapon-melees... its just never really put out there. At all.

Well one is a game and the other is an interactive movie. Nothing wrong with that buy maybe you don't actually care about games anymore.
i hate siding with GAF. they have the worst taste in video games but Vanquish is not one of them
I was blown away by the demo of Vanquish, but when I got the full game I lost interest after a few levels. When I first tried it, it seemed really crazy and deep compared to other cover shooters like Gears or Uncharted. But in the full game the levels seemed to drag.
I got Metrico off PS +. It has the worst sales pitch of all time - "it's a platformer about spreadsheets!" I never would have touched it if it weren't on Plus, but it's pretty good. The music is right up my alley, and the spreadsheet thing is all about Mario-esque spacial reasoning puzzles rather than math.
Also checked out the Toukiden demo, I was shocked how much it sucked me in. Monster Hunter didn't do much for me and I lost interest in Soul Sacrifice after a while, but this seems pretty cool. The music is amazing, and the world and action are appealing - though maybe it would also get grindy and old after a while, who knows. The last thing I need is to be spending more money on games right now (I kind of want to let my Plus sub run out and turn the time-sucking game spigot off) but I'm tempted.
I'm trying to finish off Uncharted: Golden Abyss before my Plus sub ends just in case I do decide not to renew. That and Zero Escape were the main reasons I bought the Vita in the first place. It's fairly enjoyable, but it also suffers from this feeling of "here are the four Uncharted things, do them over & over, but split up by touch screen gimmicks." The gimmicks are kind of neat, but the game has me concerned that I may be getting tired of the Uncharted formula. Though so far the environments have mostly been pretty drab and there haven't been any of the large Tomb Raideresque puzzles the series is known for, so that may have been affecting my overall impression to this point as well.

i bought a used vita that came with golden abyss. i threw it in the trash.
I'm hoping that means the game and not the system. You should have just traded it in for the $6 in credit you no doubt could have gotten.

It's the perfect marriage between game and system.

you can't do that around here and if you could they would give you like half a cent for that game.
i kept the vita.
my vita is pretty much a ps1 emulator when its not playing dragon's crown or god eater
:/
ps1 is amazing though
My Vita has been a Spelunky-exclusive machine for the last few months.
Finally got to King Yama last night too. :ugeek:

It's a system without a ton of amazing exclusives, but is good at what it does. Have you checked out Persona 4 Golden or Zero Escape yet?
I can't believe there's no (legit) way to play Phantasy Star games on it tho (old or online).
it's pretty cheap around here. i payed $50 for mine 2nd hand never used, well worth it for some indies and a couple ps1 games.
Ahah yeah, DY, ever heard of Persona? :)
Zero Escape is fucking fantastic. Lost my save, might be time to play it again.

So ryse is coming to PC. The gameplay might be repetitive, but those graphics are top tier out of PS4/x1 library. Even at 900p or whatever.
I am prepared for the new GPU benchmark overlord. If they properly support SLI..and Crytek usually does...I'm gonna run train on it at 4k

I played both of those games months ago and those are like... two of the 10 titles worth mentioning. I like that the Vita is a great piece of hardware but geez.
I've been running through PS1 games for over a decade now. I can only play Front Mission 3, FF8, and Parasite Eve so many times.

10 actually sounds about right, though that number is higher for anyone who gets excited over portable OLED indie games. I'm hoping Japan can save the system's library in the end. It's still the second best selling console there, and Japanese 3rd parties can't afford to develop for higher spec systems anyway. Oreshika 2 in particular looks pretty cool.

Internet Hi-five!
I think Heavy Rain is a masterpiece and one of the handful of games that truly demonstrated the possibilities of "next gen" or at least the future of gaming. I know that GAF displays much animosity toward Heavy Rain, but I think that has more to do with people being over-critical of David Cage as a creator and polemics concerning whether or not QTEs is authentic gaming (whatever "authentic gaming" is supposed to mean) than focusing on the product itself. By no means is Heavy Rain perfect (the blackouts were kept; Madison fanservice), but in my eyes, it created a blueprint for gaming to evolve beyond all the "fuck shit up" games that the fratcore continued to support from Just Cause to GoW. After playing Heavy Rain, the first few chapters of LA Noire, Telltale's The Walking Dead, Spec Ops: The Line, and the entirety of Red Dead Redemption, a lot of the other non-indie stuff was either boring or dopamine-providing fetch/achievement quests. Spec Ops: The Line presented an argument that I had been thinking about since the mediocrity that was Quake IV, and I'm relieved to know that I'm not alone.
Anyway, my wife, who watches a lot of the games I play, will hardly watch any more games after Heavy Rain. I know it's one of those games that makes the "games to play with your GF" articles, but she's really turned off by "fuck shit up" games. Profanity and gratuitous violence are no-nos now, even though when we were dating, she enjoyed watching me stand on the interstate in GTA: SA and blow up cars passing by. Tastes change over time, I guess. Maturation, and not the kind of "mature" that gamers talk about that really isn't.
Speaking of mature, I recommend this if you have already played Gone Home. I'm not in 100% agreement with it but it presents a lot of compelling things that I do agree with: http://lareviewofbooks.org/essay/perpetual-adolescence-the-fullbright-companys-gone-home
But back to Heavy Rain...Quantic Dream designed the game for one playthrough *BUT* we have the option to go back and "play it like a game" if we want. I fully intend to do a "Perfect Crime" run one of these days when many of the game's fine minutia have faded in memory.

Did you play W101? I guess it's the same there.
My gaming addiction is so bad. Or maybe it's just living in the real world and I can't spend 10 hours of my day playing video games like I did before I was married with kids. But I bought W101 last year when it came out and the shrink wrap is still on it.
I think I would have incentive to master Vanquish if it were designed like Ikaruga, where on easy mode you could only get through the first 3 levels and if you wanted to advance further, the game forced you to play on normal/hard. Now that I'm thinking about it, I really can't think of a better run-and-gun style third person shooter. Maybe it's the really, really cheeseball story that makes me cringe about the game. I can't just ignore it because my brain demands a purpose for why I am playing this character shooting things. I'm incapable of being mindless, especially after so much experience playing DotA 2 which is a very cerebral game.
Then again, I would probably play Vanquish to "master" it if I had the time to do so. Right now, I have time to give a game a go at 100% in one playthrough and move on. Games that require multiple plays to get everything? Well they better be really. Damn. Good.
And no, I do care about video games. A lot. Too much, probably. I literally write essays on stuff I play for free just because I do care. Yo I still maintain my backlog at backloggery.com
