It was your standard first game type stuff. Like Assassin's Creed 1. AC2 built the fuck out of the foundation of AC1. They could've did that with ME2 but decided to go more action :l

By Kuma Go To PostME2 went a totally different direction from ME1…Yeah... none of the ME games really feel cohesive to me. 2 and 3 are the closest in that regard but ME1 feels like something else altogether. The things it did best, the other games actively avoid.

Resonance of Fate is an interesting game. Its definitely slept on by a lot of people, but its quality can't really be disputed. Battle system tho? Man... it either clicks or it doesn't. May take a while though.
Currently, Im in the most interesting love/hate/whatamItoyou relationship with Elder Scrolls Online. Man, this game is UGLY AS FUCK. It doesn't really even slightly push you in the direction of others starting out like other MMOs might (which can be good or bad, not sure yet). Its definitely got the skyrim feel to it (which is also good and bad). But the world design just leaves a lot to be desired and the combat is... they didn't need to dumb it down further than what Skyrim already had but they found a way.
That being said, I still play it. I'm not sure if that will only last until the next big RPG drops or quirky indie draws me in but I'm gonna continue to feel it out. It hasn't actively pushed me away yet.
RoF is a slow start. But once you get that Battle system down and start fucking with gun combinations, it goes from slow to fucking plaid in parsecs. It is an acquired taste. But you start eating it, you gonna eat good. And I personally love the episode format. Overarching story, with strange "episodes" that contribute a little. It's very..... "anime". I always thought that was part of its charm.
ME1 feels like Kotor. Established a world, gameplay and exploration. My boys and I broke it down like this.
ME= Space exploration action RPG.
ME2=Space exploration shooter with RPG elements.
ME3=Space exploration action with RPG like customization.
