A lot of it also has to do with them needing to be the smartest guy in the room. The GamePad was an ok idea I guess...but you couldn't use more than one. If you wanted MP you had to get a combination of old gen Wii sticks and shit. It was under powered. Mix all that up plus their stubborn way of thinking leads to 3rd parties not wanting to deal with them. And they know their games won't sell on the platform. So Nintendo is in this cycle that rinse/repeat and Nintendo fanboys don't seem to care.
third party shitfest pretty much means I can never have a Nintendo system as my 'main' console.
I will play the shit out of some Nintendo games though.

Third parties will always give the least love to consoles that have strong first party support. That's something Nintendo will always have an issue with.
Problem is letting your first party titles go to shit. Metroid went from like the high class game title to crap like Other M and this Federation shit. It went from their Mad Men to a TBS drama. Star Fox has lost value as well. It's basically Mario and Zelda, and Zelda is getting worn out a bit.
Splatoon was a step in the right direction, but it looks like its going to be on a console that is being ditched in a year.

Massive Nintendo releases are just that, massive, but they don't occur often enough to scare third parties away imo.

Think its more likely that the writing has been on the wall for the WiiU for ages. The Wii was an odd case since it had a massive install base, but what percentage of it actually gave a shit about games past the likes of Wii Sports? And really, nobody wants to be stuck making Gamecube games with a motion controller when they could be working on 360/PS3 games.
Plus, its generally accepted that Nintendo's way of communicating with and incentivising third parties is a joke.

Most AAA titles do.

I feel third parties prefer lack of 1st party competition. When Sony tried to strengthen and showcase their first party titles last gen, it seemed to push third parties to Xbox. There's generally a pattern. The weaker first party system gets more third party support.
It's hard for me not to see that every third party title on a Nintendo console gets treated as second tier, and that's not due to being all poor offerings. The Gamecube had quality third party support.
Basically, if the console company treats the third party like a premiere first party title then it benefits the third party and they seek that out. If the console company has strong first party titles then they are less likely to offer that towards third parties.
I am not sure which current console actually has superior third party support. Though 1st party strength is not the only factor in determining third party support.
Yo I finished Devil May Cry 4 and I gotta say two things:
1.) Fuck that final boss
2.) Dante w/ the fist and leg weapons is heaven
3.) Sooooooooooo picking up the special edition later down the line.

By HasphatsAnts Go To PostYeah Witcher 3 is the best game I've played in a really really long time.Probably my favorite game of all-time.
It has pretty much killed the open world genre for me though. That game made me realize that I'm the type of player to do all that optional stuff you give me to do, and TW3 gives you a shit ton of stuff to do. I'm probably the only person in the world, but I actually enjoy the combat of the game and it's well written so I keep playing it. Most other open world RPGs like Fallout won't have either and got me thinking why would I bother
I like trying to do everything in the recent Fallouts, but way too many quests fail because of glitches. If they can fix that (very much doubt it) I'll probably get engrossed in FO4
Bloodborne
TW3
Batman: AK
MGSV
Firewatch
Persona 5
Fallout 4
What a great year

The ending was anywhere near the biggest thing wrong with the game, contrary to what a million angry posters would have you believe.
I've never seen an ME3 hater say the ending was the worst. It's usually the BioWare dickriders that insist "THE REST OF THE GAME WAS PERFECTION! IT'S ONLY THE ENDING THAT MADE PEOPLE UPSET"
Ending was a piece of shit and gets the most acknowledgement because it's the culmination of a 5 year period and 3 games, but as you said it's not even close to the worst thing about that game. There's almost literally nothing that games single player get right. It's an abomination on all fronts.
Probably had about 15 playthroughs on ME1 and maybe 7-8 in ME2. Barely even made it halfway through a second playthrough in ME3. I would bring back the Isiah Thomas Knicks if it meant I could wipe ME3 SP from existence.

Most things about 3 were a disaster. only thing it seemed to kinda get right was the Garrus and Liara relationships. Best scene in the game is the Garrus and Sheppard sniping cans in the citadel.
Oh and the Mordin Wrex thing was pretty good too.

2 is the best ME by a fair margin, 3 and 1 are good for different reasons.
3's combat was really fun, which leads into the multiplayer being the best part of the game to many.
The core character across the trilogy are well realized, particularly Garrus and Liara (if you get past how obvious it is she's Bioware's ideal love interest}.

By Dark PhaZe Go To PostMordor 2 stronk
first semi-open world game where I've kind of wanted to unlock everything in a while
it gets a bit repetitive tho
about to play some Enemy Within because GW2 doesn't want to cooperate. been far too long away from this game.

Eh, if you enjoyed 1 and 2 there's at least a good 80% of that game that's really worthwhile. Some of the story decisions are dumb, but I played through it a couple of times already and have enjoyed all of it.
never understood how story beats that happen in the last 30 minutes of the game should ruin all of me3 but that seems to be the case for most people for some reason
By Smokey Go To Postit gets a bit repetitive thoREAL quick. That game found bushes so fucking fast. What an incredibly boring open world too.
Picked up a bunch of stuff from Steam sale. I think after Batman this week...I'm done until Madden 16. Need to work on backlog guyz. Srs. Still haven't tried ESO despite it being installed ;_;

Ended up beating Dead Rising 3, The Witcher 3 and Wolfenstein TNO this past week.
Dead Rising 3 is great for mindless fun in 10-15 minute doses. Go around, collect blueprints, build cooler weapons and fuck some zombies up. When it comes to missions and stuff? Garbage, repetitive and just not fun at all. A whole bunch of "go here and do this, oops you need to do this other thing so go here instead, okay now you can go back" gets really annoying.
Wolfenstein gameplay was great. The shooting felt well done, you can choose to use iron sights but it's not really necessary and you're not penalized for hip fire. The AI was also decent because it reacted to how I played. If I was run and gunning, the enemies were trying to hide behind cover, flank me, etc. If I was playing it like a modern shooter, they were aggressive and pushed up together. I'm impressed at how the game could be played either way and feel "right" and on top of that, there's always the option to stealth which is fun here and there. But who wants to stealth when you can dual wield shotguns

By blackace Go To PostI really liked ME2 as a standalone title but it really crippled the seriesThats entirely possible.
They all had their ups and downs. ME3 was by the most streamlined of them all.
The planetary exploration stuff was always tedium.
I enjoyed all of them, probably spent the most time in 2, but 3 was really enjoyable.
I think part of the problem with a series like ME is that, when you have big world altering events like they had at the end of ME2, it's really hard to parley that into a story with continuation and history that makes sense within the same characters "life time".which is where ME3 struggled.
Loved all 3 Mass Effects for different reasons
Kinda looking forward to Andromeda's multiplayer more than single player. Got into ME3 dead late, would like to advance along with everyone else.

they basically had to reboot the series after going from Xbox exclusive to multi plat.
2 would have been a great standalone game or starting off game. But felt like they had two number ME1s in a 3 game series
ME1 was janky but I loved it. I love space in general and that one had the best sense of exploration with the planet scanning and mako. ME2 was good in its own way. I didn't get more than 2 hrs into ME3 before I put it down.
