By n8 dogg Go To PostPogba is the only one in our current squad that would defo fit that bill, and even he is young, hungry and has links to the club. Zlatan isn't the type just to care about that.
Who else have we bought recently that strikes you as nothing more than a mercenary?
Zlatan spent the last years of his prime beating up toddlers in Ligue 1 and, at its absolute nadir, Serie A. Now, he gets one last paycheck. (Btw, you will have won a league cup and no top 4, no CL qualification. ~Wow.~ Give the man a fucking statue.) Why doesn't he count?
Di Maria, Falcao, Schweinsteiger, Victor Valdes (???!?), hell even Mata to some extent (the only reason he doesn't "count" is because he's been a good signing, for the most part). Idk, I definitely think United have chased names for the sake of names-sake for a while.
There's nothing wrong with a Galactico strategy imo. United's problem is that it's been executed remarkably poorly. The managers have never built the system around the superstars, they've tried to jam the stars into the system. Di Maria was set up to fail, and he did.
I don't mind getting rejects from other teams, just as long as their attitude doesn't stink.
Morata and Rodríguez are both welcome to come. Need players of that calibre. I'd rather stockpile than not have enough.
Though I can't really see either one happening. Especially not if we miss out on the CL.

None of the four you mentioned are at the club anymore. I probably should have worded it to say who in our squad strikes you as that. Obviously the money matters to Zlatan but he's 35; he did not have to come to a physically tough league and prove himself anymore than he already has, and he's done exceptionally well.
I think there was a very real danger of us doing that under LVG. Under Mourinho, Pogba and Zlatan were big money, big name buys that stood out as different to the typical Galactico signing, much as there is caveats. I would hate for us to turn into the home for Madrid players that couldn't make it. Even Griezmann I'm dubious about, considering the reports re: living in England and playing Champions League. I want players to play for us that want to be there.
btw I don't see how Wenger could ever agree to work under a DOF. the whole squad basically needs to be replaced, at this point. you'd be gutting Wenger's team bit by bit.
By Phlebas Go To PostUnited fans should stop acting like they don't want James
I really don't, unless we sold one of Micky and Mata. And even then I'd be wary.
Troidini sounds like a French striker and Odion Ighalo is where Inuits go to the cinema. I'm not sorry

That pass from Lucas was the first breaking the line ball we've played tonight. We lack that so much in this team.

United have a bit of a squad rebuild to undertake yet no? James transfer fee would be better spent on filling more positions.
Remember when we used to pay attention to Sturridge's injury updates?
Thought he was out for the season until today's teamsheet came out

Lallana has been consistently good asince Klopp came. Even remember being impressed with him in that first draw with Spurs.
