By n8 dogg Go To PostThat's even more reason to build the team around him.Uh, sure. But what does that mean exactly? If you have a great player and can only surround him with above-average players, then you're not gonna get great results. Maybe once or twice if the stars align. Totti did good with other great players around him. It's the same for most great players.
And now it's 4-1 LOL
These teams are playing so open. CBs of both teams leaving like 20m between them. It's incredible.

Under twenty minutes left and Lyon need goals. I suppose it is the right time to throw on their best forward. :|

I agree he is a wonderful player. But he hasn't won enough, shown enough ambition or dragged his team to glory enough times to be judged as one of the true greats. He's essentially the ultimate cult hero/club legend. But not once did he convince Roma and his coaches to build a team around him, according to Shanks. Messi played for a side with Iniesta, Xavi, Puyol, Henry, Ronaldinho et al, and still got Guardiola to build around him.
Ranieri built a side around Vardy's pace and won the league.
Honestly, if United play either of these sides in the final and don't win, that will be biggest embarrassment of the year for them. Easily too.

Even so United will fluff 90% of the chances. If they advance.
Good luck in the final v Celta, Randy.
all of our players are dead.

That's my earliest memory of Totti. Great player!

It's like they are playing for the 3rd place in a world cup. Both teams refuse to acknowledge there is such a thing as midfield.
Pretty fun to watch.
Pretty fun to watch.
Ibra, Rojo and Shaw being injured is no excuse for Man Utd failing to beat Celta Vigo and then Ajax. Not even close.

Blitzkrieg tomorrow evening.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostTotti is a number 10. Yet Roma never once since the title bought a striker to complement him.
Roma didn't even have any players and he was forced to play as a forward. He then broke the game.
"Broke the game"
He scored 20 or more goals in the league twice in 20 years.

You are judging us on reputation and not quality though.
Pogba rusty. Bailly just got injured. Smalling and Jones coming back. Rooney still alive.
I do think we should beat them, but I think a lot of people are very ignorant regarding Celta's quality.

I've LOVED watching Monaco this season. But I think to stop a Madrid win, Juve need to do it.
Forza Juve
Forza Juve

I meant in regards to football. When Pep and SAF saw what Totti did they changed their clubs to play like Totti

Yeah. Whoever wins tonight I'd be delighted with winning, even if they didn't come up against the monsters of evil.

So it comes down to medals?
Guy had ambition and dragged his team up. However, when you have shit around you it is hard to pull them up right to the top.
Totti at 40 saved Roma and got them into 3rd. They then proceeded to fuck it up.
Totti should have spend his career as a ten with a striker in front of him and quality wingers. Since Batigol left they haven't once had that setup.
By NinjaFridge Go To PostThe best thing Totti did was when he made the polio vaccineThought he invented vaccines.
Or was that the Frenchman with the pasta name.

In the end, yes. You judge the greatest largely on what they won.
Usain Bolt is the greatest not just because of his personality, but because he backed it up with results. Same for Muhammed Ali. Federer has 17 Grand Slams so is declared the greatest, as well as his aesthetic appeal.
There are umpteen reasons why Totti is a wonderful player. But take someone like Messi, who combines that creativity and play style and talent with reward, and you see why he will go down as one of the all-time greats.
People wouldn't remember Leicester in 50 years if they came second. If Spurs finish second again this year, same for them. It's sport. Winning matters.
I'm fine with Madrid winning La Liga. I mean really, who gives a shit? But someone new needs to win the CL every few years. It's good for business and three (now two really) of the four are great options.
By Killer7 Go To PostGreat game. Hopefully the CL game is the same.EL has been a disgrace this year
EL > CL

I hope not. Please keep winning. #nomanchesterclubs

I disagree. The mid-00s Roma team and Totti have a hugely influential tactical legacy that dominated the game for nearly a decade, particularly as it seemed like the 20-goal-per-season striker was becoming an extinct species.
To compare a football player (one of eleven) to athletes that compete in solo competition is disingenuous bordering on idiotic.
