Who the hell is Salah's agent? And why does he want him in England so bad?
He definitely didn't get a real chance with Mourinho at Chelsea. There was no grace period at all. He had some poor performances and then was gone.

BRISBANE, Australia (AP) — An Australian players’ union says Robbie Kruse and James Holland are free agents after terminating their contracts with Chinese Super League club Liaoning Whowin due to unpaid wages.

Because we trashed 4 Libertadores champions against all odds already (Colo-Colo, Olimpia, Estudiantes and Atlético Nacional (last years champions) )
We just beat Atlético Nacional today to confirm our qualification and therefore eliminating them

He probably had a few decent games for us and I'm pretty sure he scored vs. Arsenal in the 6-0 rout.
Wasn't he supposed to come to Liverpool instead that season? I remember there was talk of us buying him simply so Liverpool wouldn't have him.
Yeah we got Willian'd iirc
Spent the whole window haggling, started to look like a game of chicken, then got easily outbid and your negotiations with him and the club probably took about 5 minutes

What I remember most about Salah is a lot of Chelsea fans didnt give a shit that he left.
I think he was a good player though, but Mou was desperate to find first teamers that could instantly click with the team. For me it was one of his worst sins while he was at Chelsea.

Salah is a good player but under Mourinho, where he expects wingers to track back and defend, he didn't work out at all.
His pace is crazy, though. Could see him slotting it in Pedro's spot if we still had him. Still only 24 too, wow.

De Bruyne, Salah, Cuadrado, Lukaku, Sturridge.. Chelsea have had some very high profile players who appear to have been mismanaged and gone on to be top players in their position for other teams.
Matic half-counts.
Batshuayi will be next.
We had a deal worked out with Basel for Salah, the player wanted to come, then when Ian Ayre went in with the final offer it was way lower than the agreed upon amount. It pissed Basel off so they said fuck off, Chelsea came in with one offer in the amount they wanted, so off he went.
Hindsight is 20/20 though, because it's not like Chelsea weren't packed with high profile players.
I didn't think anyone thought Oscar would turn out to be such a disappointment too, other than LVG.

Fuck ESPN. They did a feature on ten to watch at the under 20 WC and din't include Orsolini.
Crazy not to include a player who could be starting for the CL champs next season.

You can only say hindsight is 20/20 so many times. How many other clubs have frozen out so many players of that quality?
De Bruyne and to some extend Lukaku I am upset about.
Salah and Cuadrado were pure unadulterated trash. Don't care if they went on to get decent careers elsewhere, they had to go. Feel like they were failing such fundamentals of playing football, that it can't be blamed on the coach.
Sturridge? eeeh. I liked him, but he was constantly injured and a bit of an idiot at times, when it came to decision making and whining in the media. He went on to some good seasons, but also again being very injured and now a bit shit. Not a mess up that one, really a fairly decent decision I think, for a player that got a lot of chances. Every time he started being good and playing well, he got injured again. Just a never ending cycle.
No idea about Matic. Seems like he became a very different player over the years at Benfica, from what I read. But I never actually saw him as far as I remember, before he went to Portugal... Or in Portugal.

No idea about the board tbh. Kind of expected them to not listen to Conte at all, but I'm a pessimist at heart.
I reckon Chelsea need:
- a Cahill replacement
- a better RWB than Moses
- an upgrade on Matic
- a Costa replacement
- potentially a Pedro replacement
Hard to say how much of that can be fixed in-house: can Christensen step up as a valuable option? Could Azpilicueta improve on the promise he's showing going forward and replace Moses? Will Fabregas stay as an incredibly good option to have?
But I think the worst thing football clubs can do with their squad is have sentiment. I feel it as a fan - if it were up to me we'd still have Evra, Rafael and Welbeck - but the board have to know they can absolutely improve on Cahill and Moses in particular, and it would be crazy if Chelsea went into the new season with them as bona fide first choices.
Leicester bought Slimani, Mendy, Hernandez, Musa and Zieler last summer and not one improved their first team. It took until they bought Ndidi for them to look somewhat comfortable without Kante.
Meanwhile they went into the new season with Huth and Morgan still as first choice assuming the new normal was they were great and not, with all evidence to the contrary, having remarkable seasons in the midst of average careers. Chelsea have to move forward.

By Qindarka Go To PostWhat's the general opinion on Bakayoko?I thought he was their worst player by far in the first leg vs Juve. Didn't play well in the 2nd leg either but wasn't as much of a liability. Honestly, he didn't have a great tie in general vs us as well but he got the winner so he probably gets a pass, ha. Either way, he is young and has time to improve -- I'm sure whoever signs him will be happy in the long run.
Seems to be a lot of negativity around him.
In a little over two seasons (three summer windows & two winter) Mourinho gave:
Lukaku - 1 month (preseason summer 13' - loaned to Everton sold summer 14')
Moses - 1 month (preseason summer - loaned to Liverpool 13', Stoke 14', West Ham 15')
De Bruyne - 5 months (Aug 13' - Jan 14')
Mata - 5 months (Aug 13' - Jan 14')
Ryan Bertrand - 5 months (Aug 13' - Jan 14')
Schurrle - 1 1/2 seasons (Aug 13' - Jan 15')
David Luiz - 1 season (Aug 13' - June 14')
Torres - 1 1/2 seasons (Aug 13' - Jan 15')
Salah - 2 half seasons (Jan 14' - Jan 15')
Filipe Luis - 1 season (July 14' - July 15')
Cuadrado - 8 months (Jan 15' - Aug 16')
And a number of other players like Oriol Romeu, Marko Marin and Patrick van Aanholt who didn't even get a look and we're loaned then sold.

By n8 dogg Go To PostI reckon Chelsea need:This is all very accurate though I think I've been completely convinced that Moses can do the job at WB. He's obviously a winger at heart, and that's a nice trait while in possession, but the fact he's willing to hustle and do the dirty work at the other end is commendable. He's shown that some players are in fact coachable and can adapt. And I think that deserves a bit of rewarding if not at least faith.

If Van Dijk is the buy then Cahill will have to worry about Christensen. The board is turning down real money to work him into the team, so he's going to be given a chance though Cahill will have a leg up having played so many games in the system already.
Azpili can certainly also play RWB if need be.
I don't know what happens with Zouma. I love him but it's potentially getting crowed if two new players come in.
Bakayoko looks to be the focus to pair with Kanté. Fabregas still in his sub role. Matic I guess should leave or stay and play less often. I still hate him.
Willian I think will push to leave. He's only happy playing and that might not be a sure thing. He sulks while on the bench. Pedro's been excellent in year two and is really versatile. I agree though that this is still a position to spend serious money on. There could and should be more goals from this spot. Sanchez is the dream but that seems slim. Bernardo Silva could do but also will be difficult.
Fully expect for Costa to go and Lukaku to come in. But perhaps Morata too...? We have a lot of money.
I'm overall shockingly not hard pressed for any one position except who is paired with Kanté.

I don't think that table is really trying to demonstrate who has a young team.

Fair enough. Though if you look at the teams with 0's, you have the champions and two relegation battlers. Hard to justify giving young debutants a go when the stakes are as high as they get.
Liverpool have given a few teenagers their debuts this year, not sure about Arsenal.
