By Phoenix RISING Go To PostHarden was not traded. They offered him something like 2 mil below the max and he bolted to the Rockets. He was....
Everyone took an L.
By blackace Go To PostJust not many good coaches out there…
Sam is a real funny GM tho… He found some great talent in the draft but had failed to fill out the roster to compliment it and he couldn't keep his talent so far
But as DY said, it wasn't working. They could have had Donovan years earlier. Or ... Any other college coach if they wanted to keep that "atmosphere".
There were lots of directions.
Presti seems to be a solid enough GM who is basically the anti Ainge in terms of strengths / weaknesses.
By blackace Go To PostThink it has more to do with they aren't as good… They are full on roleplayers… every one of them.
Take Nene for example… he was a b tier star at on point, he knows how to step into that role if he gots that touch that day…
So is Adams (B tier player). And oladipo should be able to step into that role.
It's year 1 after KD departed, so the roster needs work. But there are guys who should be able to step into that role who just haven't been asked to do so all year.
Which has been the real difference between the two teams / players. Late in the game, more people on Houston are warm / have had and made shots. Where as OKC gets very tight cause guys just haven't.

He was "Traded". He was gone, he just allowed them to get peanuts (and trade his bird rights).
How bad is your roster if it's completely dependent on the ghost of Rajon Rondo?
omg, Smart making a big deal out of getting a manly rebound and then immediately gets his pocket picked because he sucks at offense.
Gerald Green having to calm Smart down...

By HasphatsAnts Go To Postdamn. sucks to hear from Steve Kerr.how come you hate kd,klay and curry?
He and Bob Myers are the only dudes I like on GSW. :/

There isn't really any "" to it... He didn't allow them to get anything, nothing he could do about being traded.
Sam rushed a trade and moved him in the preseason. He would have walked in the offseason but this wasn't a S&T type of deal he had 1 more year on his contract..
Am I just imagining growing up in the 90's when games were tighter? I feel like I remember less runs and deficits by teams than in the modern NBA, and more blow-for-blow.
The Celtics/Bulls game is on, but I'm just not interested because of that score. Rockets/Thunder looked entertaining, but I had household chores to do.

I mean the first round is made for blowouts.. Just look at any 90s year and most were sweeps or 3-1 in the first round (I miss the best of 5 1st round tho...)

Easier to get a 15 point lead at half time when halves use 50 possessions instead of 40 possessions.
Even with comparable team quality differences.
And more threes leads to more randomness as well.
By diehard Go To Postbest of 7 first rounds started in early 2000's.To benefit the Lakers + mo money.
By Kuma Go To PostAll the foulsBulls driving more than last game. That's what usually happens when you take it to the hole aggressively.
Easier to get a 15 point lead at half time when halves use 50 possessions instead of 40 possessions.3s really changed the game up.. looking at the 94 Suns first round against the Warriors and the Sun shot a total of 36 3s in 4 games.. Boston shot 18 tonight so far..

When the guy refuses to sign ...
You're right that presti organised the trade (very late in the off season because they kept trying to sign him i believe?)
But ... he was gone.
Harden was a RFA with one year left on his contract. If the Thunder wanted, they could have kept him for five more years.
By IWMTB19 Go To PostHarden was a RFA with one year left on his contract. If the Thunder wanted, they could have kept him for five more years.1. Not if Harden declines.
2. They didn't want to pay him max.
3. He was going to get a max offer sheet.
They were never keeping him if he didn't take a pay cut.
um he was a RFA , he has no say in it. I mean he could do the 1 year deal thing but its never happened before.
Ummm.

They lowballed him so he was gone. But he was still a RFA and nothing he could have done could have stopped them from matching if they wanted plus making a better trade at the deadline would have been better but really Harden didn't allow them to trade him.. lol
Only positive was Jimmy getting to line. Would be single digits if he hadn't missed like 3 free throws.

The thunder made it perfectly clear they did not want to pay him max money. They wanted to pay ibaka and keep perkins, and stay under the tax.
He was going to get a max offer sheet.
They would have had to match the max sheet in order to keep him.
The fact that they traded him away over it should be perfectly clear that they never had any intention of matching a max offer sheet.
Harden had no problems staying there. But made it perfectly clear he wanted max money.

but the bottomline is he really had no say in anything besides the money he demanded. Really the Thunder did him a favor (while fucking themselves at the same) by trading him when they did.. being a RFA might have hurt his market value to some degree since a lot of teams don't really like banking their next season on a RFA...
Jazz really have no excuse not to win the series with no Blake. I know Rudy is gone but its an even series now.
By s y Go To PostJazz really have no excuse not to win the series with no Blake. I know Rudy is gone but its an even series now.Rudy is absolutely more important to the Jazz, and a better player than Blake.
Without Rudy our defense is trash, without Blake .. CP3 will just shoot more and thats bad.
If Favors was even 50% id agree though
By blackace Go To PostThunder couldn't weather a game where Westbrook played like Harden did today
It's on Presti and Gondo. Not on Rockets fans to feel guilty about the lack of personnel or however it's phrased up in OKC.
Hopefully their season ends in game 5 so this tired argument can be put to sleep, and we can wait in anticipation for another season where the Thunder are picked to finish ahead of the Rockets because of Presti's genius.
No it is not on the Rockets fans to feel bad that the Thunder roleplayers aren't that good... lol
But it is on the Rockets fans not to pretend that their squad is in as poor as shape as the Thunder and James Harden had to do it all himself..

Out side of IT, Bradley and Horford they all seem dumb as bricks.
