Nerlens isn't very good, though. He has no jumpshot and doesn't even have good hands so he can't finish 'oops.
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostNerlens is beyond built for this era but idk wtf is going on. I blame Philly. He's still good-to-great on defense. He just doesn't have near enough offensive skills to be worth much. Can't set screens, slipping them is unreliable, poor finisher, no jumpshot, no handle, not a notable passer, etc.
Vegas still has the Jazz as a sub-.500 team, right? Thinking of dropping like $500 or so to take the over just to feel a bit more invested in the season. I have to think that they're good for 43 wins this year, at least.
By reilo Go To PostOff what shooting?i heard Rubio fixed his jumper.
I mean... I kinda hope you drop $500 just for the drama, but I don't think that's a good bet. They're gonna have to grind out a looooot of close wins to get to 43. Not to mention they're in the West, and in the Northwest Division which looks a lot tougher this year than last.
If they were in the East I'd be a lot more comfortable taking that. But I'm sure their over/under would be higher in that case.

By reilo Go To PostThat Jazz offense is gonna look Byron Scott tier and not by choice.True DPOY Rudy Gobert has leveled up once again. After getting screwed out of the award last year, nobody is scoring on us this year.
Rubio can create looks for guys even when the spacing isn't the most ideal, but I have my doubts they're going to let him pound the ball and prod the defense like he needs to, though.
Jazz were 30th in Pace and 28th in PPG last season and they lost Hayward and Hill. Derick Favors died three seasons ago.
It’s gonna be a rough go.
It’s gonna be a rough go.
Why would pace and ppg matter? Ortg is the only thing. Favors only died last season, he was great just 2 seasons ago.

And it absolutely matters lol. McMillan Blazers were 1st in ORtg but last in Pace by a huge margin and delibaretely so because they couldn’t get easy points, which mattered a ton.
Warriors Small Lineup Of Death is precisely that because their Pace is unbelievably stupid.
By reilo Go To PostGood thing you were around average in Ortg last season and now lost Hayward and Hill?Pace only matters when it effects your offensive or defensive rating. If you mention defense or offense rating, pace can only be used a metric to help explain why. You can't be first in ORtg and not "get easy points", or at the very worst.. it doesn't matter.

McMillan's highest ORtg season got them to 54 wins on an average defense.. which is saying a lot because a lower pace should help your defense rating.
I really don't think there's a causation between pace of play and drtg. Rather, teams that play good defense tend to play that way out of stylistic choice or personnel necessity. A good coach knows that if his players aren't world beaters on offense, slowing the pace and having them focus on defensive effort is a way to maximize his talent and put his team in position to win as many games as possible.
Like, the Wolves played at the fifth slowest pace last year and were still miserable on defense because the roster had one good defensive player on it (and several more among the worst at their position). Playing slower basketball isn't helping Andrew Wiggins close out on shooters, you know?

Cookout is too gdlk
Them Cookout milkshakes..good lord
Playing a slower pace is supposed to (not always) at least cut down on opponent fast break opportunities, which will raise defensive rating.
By reilo Go To PostJason Smith in 2017 LolAnd people saying dc getting a 4 seed lol
Phaze pls
By DY_nasty Go To PostAnd people saying dc getting a 4 seed lolIt's the East, though.
By Kibner Go To PostIt's the East, though. No frontcourt vs Miami and Charlotte = free division wins that wouldn't otherwise happen.
It's Boston, Cleveland, Toronto, Miami/Charlotte - then Washington. Wiz will be a better playoff team than regular season though.
Detroit is a sane PG away from beating up on people too.
I'm hesitant about how good Miami and Charlotte are going to be, tbh. It's just BOS, CLE, and TOR and then everyone else.
Great promo.
But an ankle sprain to Durant or Curry is the only thing that might derail them. And even then it's a *maybe*.

By s y Go To PostStay in yo lane KibnerI see no evidence that the Heat are a tier above the rest of the teams fighting for the fourth seed in the East.

Nothing is going to stop them in the regular season, it just won't matter.

What a year the bulls are having
I'm surprised that Bobby got into a fight like that, but I'm not surprised that he's been so bad for the Bulls. I called that as somebody who watched him in college. He always felt like a second round pick at best.
By blackace Go To PostBe crazy if Mirotic pressed charges
File a police report and bring a civil suit. Hurt way more than some light community service. Both would be entertaining from an outside perspective of the Bulls shit show. WOJ saying fractured bone.

Which would be great.
