Casey has been at this longer so it is no surprise he has a better record at this point, I'd rather have Stevens any day over Casey though.

Brad hasn't really had the chance to and I most likely would pick Brad over Casey too but it isn't like by some huge landslide until Brad does more
I'm sorry if its been discussed to death but what do the respect GMs expect to achieve with these wade and melo transfers?
And why dont we have another PG, is there really such a lack of talent out there.

As someone who also enjoys baseball a lot and football some, this is the best time of the year. My favorite sport starts, my second favorite sport is about to go into post season mode and my third favorite sport is well underway (I even have a team to root for now)

“I feel like all the work I put in this summer is going to pay off and I’m going to start building to being the player that I truly see myself as and the player I know I’m capable of being,” Winslow said. “The guy that’s capable of being the best two-way player on the court.
“I want to be an All-Star this year. I want to make it happen, I’m not going to sell myself short.”

How old do you have to be before you can join BIG3?
It's absolutely ridiculous that the worst team in the league only has a 40 per cent chance of landing a top-3 pick.
That looks better. Curious if it has effects.
If the bottom is (3) teams instead of (1) the race to get there should be less obvious.

By rodeoclown Go To PostIt's absolutely ridiculous that the worst team in the league only has a 40 per cent chance of landing a top-3 pick.It helps the smaller markets who dont have the stomach to tank but get stuck in the high single digits of the lottery have a legit shot at landing a superstar.
Like Indiana, who hasn't had a top 5 pick in what, 20-30 years? But gets stuck in the latter half of the lottery for years at a time.
It hurts smaller markets because it limits their ability to get star players. The worst three teams in the league now have a better shot of picking outside the top-3 than they did before, which is completely asinine and backwards from how this whole draft system is supposed to work in the first place.
I also think the evening out of draft odds means we're going to see more teams totally content to throw away their seasons. This won't work.

If the goal is to remove tanking you de-incentivize the race to the bottom. You don't make the bottom more appealing.
Was the draft process meant to encourage tanking in the first place? One negative unintended outcome seems worse to me.

Define "throw away seasons". If someone on the edge of being a play off team or not decides to not shoot for the plays offs, that product is still better than a 15 win or less piece of shit tanker.

You don't make the bottom more appealing.I personally don't believe that my favorite team should tank, but honestly, this is a solution to a problem that didn't exist. How is tanking an issue? Aside from the Sixers, how many teams have blatantly thrown away seasons to try and win the lottery (which is the only way star players might play in Philadelphia, by the way) and actually been successful?

They're hurting smaller markets and teams that actually need help to address something that isn't even a real widespread issue.

Also I wouldn't call Philly successful yet.

You don't see smaller markets willingly and blatantly all out tanking like you do with bigger markets.

There are multiple avenues to getting good, tanking shouldn't be protected.
its fixing a problem that really didn't exist....sans us most of the "tanking" teams just kinda sucked...naturally....and hell our incompetence problably puts us in that category too.
and I don't even know if this even fixes anything but hey, they can say they did.
will make rigging it a lot easier tho lol

Cavs had 3 #1 picks in four years and still sucked. Only saved by Lebron coming back.
Ditto for all of the Top 5 picks the Clippers and King’s wasted the last decade sans a player or two.
Tanking to get a top 3 pick is as only as good as your talent evaluation of the incoming class of prospects.
I don’t know if this solves anything at best it might be a lateral move but whatever we had before didn’t save small markets, either.

The Knicks for the last two decades

You're really underselling how shitty and obvious tanking is.

Sure but this doesn't mean a team won't tank. The product sucks when a team tanks

You will have less situations like Anthony Davis stuck in the trash heap that is the Pelicans.

I'm a fan of a team that basically when they are bad.. are going to be picking in the 5-10 range anyway. 2 top 4 picks in my lifetime and zero top 2 picks.

This move is basically just shifting the time of when it makes sense to tank.
Ehh the Kings have done a pretty terrible job of tanking, they are just really bad at winning. Last year was the first year i can remember them really embracing it.
Really ... I just hope this prevents the super tank. You're still incentivized to tank, like Kibner said, depending on the situation. You just don't need to be 15 games a season bad. You could be "watchable entertainment" bad. Which is an improvement.

Yo go check and see if I was wanting to tank last year. Or the year before. This site got receipts. Kado was in the back drinking margaritas laughing at my while I held out. Last year specifically I figured we would be #5 or so by the end was rooting for wins almost all season. Then we traded Lou Williams.
I fuckin' hate tanking
The whole point to the lottery was to make sure that the worst team got the best opportunity to get the best player so that they weren't the worst team.
This doesn't solve that in the slightest.
And it looks like they've taken the protection off of the # 1-3 picks? So you could now end up with the worst record, but not even get a top 3 pick? Just top 5?
It's pretty terrible reforms.
It does give the bottom 4 - 6, a better time.
But it does shift the "when to tank" line. Which doesn't incentivise 15 win teams, but you still get the best odds by being the worst, so it doesn't really dis-incentivise it either.
And it doesn't help or hurt particular markets one way or the other.
The way to stop teams tanking, isn't really through changing lottery odds.

If you got a better idea, rather than adjusting the lottery, I would love to hear it. I've never heard any other suggestions.
Don't reform. The solution of d-league development is already paying off.
