Yeah, they legit hammed it up.
By diehard Go To PostI realize its importance and all that, and that it in the big picture it means my complaint means nothing, but i hate that we are to the point we can't avoid politics in everyday hobbies/interests.nah im glad we're at this point. politics is something that effects us every day. people were always afraid to talk about politics because they were afraid people would find out they were a white supremacist, but now it's cool so that's why you see politics everywhere. there's no shame in that anymore
for people who want politics out of your hobbies, maybe try to help address those politics? if 16 months ago people said "yeah, stop killing unarmed black men!" this past weekend would have never been a thing. but people would rather unarmed black men keep getting executed and expect them to be happy about it
By s y Go To PostPlan the parade
For the most part, sports and politics do stay away from one another. You hear about player protests for the upcoming healthcare disaster we've been facing? What about the NK drama? How about redistribution of wealth? Betsy Davos making it her missions to fuck the public school system? Anyone taking time off twitter to go from flat earth to environmentalist?
Race relations is a special issue. It's more than politics. In today's case, it's an issue where a bunch of white people feel like telling the black people they cheer on for sporting events to shut up and realize their place it entertaining them.
Ideally these issue don't arise and we can treat sports like the diversion it is, we just don't live in the ideal.

Take politics to the politics thread.
I'm all for Athletes using what ever platform they have to fight for change. And any celebrity with a TV Camera pointing at them criticizing an athlete is pure hypocrisy. But i don't want to debate the actual politics here.
diehards point that while he doesn't mind the political statements, but he doesn't want to get into a political discussion / debate and have a NBA thread derailed by it, is entirely justifiable.
So please, take politics to the politics thread.
What an odd retort . Should he have posted in the politics thread and linked his response to Diehard to it here?

Russ would shut him the fuck up in 3 seconds. This isn't NY, he's a 3rd banana.
But to be fair to the guy, everyone said he was a model teammate on Team USA, I think he'll be different with all NBA teammates and something to play for.

If I failed to get my students to see that there is politics in everything--EVERYTHING--then I felt I failed to do my job; failed them.
To get to turn off the critical lens, or live oblivious of a need for one, is privelage.

By pilonv1 Go To PostSeems a lot to pay for Josh Jackson's backup who also can't shoot threes
I actually like his game
I like TJ Warren. He seems really good at scoring. And put a lot of effort into defense last year (still mediocre at it). If he could add a 3pt shot he would be a very valuable player. Hopefully he gets more burn now that they're not determined to start PJ Tucker ahead of him.
Seems that whenever he was going to get a lot of playing time, he's managed to get injured. One of those guys that you know the second he is on another team he'll have a break out year or the like.

WHOS MANS IS THIS
Dwight Howard has always had a vivid imagination, and it roared to life once again Monday afternoon as he sat down for his first Media Day press conference as a Charlotte Hornet.
Rather than take the moment just for what it was – a late September afternoon on the day before Howard has his first official practice with his new teammates – he imagined what he wanted it to be.
In Howard’s mind, the calendar read June 2018. The setting was the NBA Finals. And Howard was arriving to a postgame press conference after the Hornets had just beaten Golden State. He folded his 6-foot-11, 265-pound frame into a chair and began.
“Talk about the win against Golden State,” Howard asked himself, changing his voice into that of a press conference moderator.
“We played a good game,” Howard replied to himself, looking down at his imaginary stat sheet. “Kemba (Walker) did a good job. Coach has always been great. Jeremy (Lamb) hit some tough shots. Frank (Kaminsky) hit a big three in the fourth quarter that put us over the top. And Cody (Zeller) got a big rebound over Steph (Curry).”
Then Howard smiled his big smile, breaking the spell. The rest of the time he veered between the serious – he vowed of President Donald Trump that “only thing I can do is forgive him and love him” – and the silly.

Happy Dwight is actually kinda new. Hopefully it translates to a resurgence on the court. He's a cornball, but I don't remember the last time he's been openly having this much fun.
Also, Malik Monk is a great interview for a rookie.

My lasting memory of 12 baby mommas will always be a hidden camera in some hotel room with 2 underage looking girls that he was trying to bang or something.

I say until January.

I think it was about $150, and we got 10% off for auto-renewing. Much better than the $300 they're trying to sell it for locally
