By blackace Go To PostBut that is kind of the strange thing… They were the greatest O ever in the history of basketball for half the season… They had an idea what they were just when they added these new players they didn't adjust to their games..They started to lose before thy added the new guys.
When DeRozan was on prime Kobe / MJ scoring they were an amazing Offense. When that slowed...

By shun Go To PostHire Mark Brownis that the love child of Mark Jackson and Mike Brown?
By shun Go To PostEither one would work to be honest. Both are terrible offensive coaches.
They need an offense, while being held accountable for effort on defense.
Not sure how many of those guys are floating around.
By blackaceWho do you hire to mold the Raps?
If you're going to give up on Casey, the smart move is to steal Messina from San Antonio. He's ready to run his own show in the NBA and he'd bring exactly what Masai was talking about.
But I'm not so sure they move on from Casey yet. I know some connected dudes and I've actually had lunch with the main Raptors stats guy. None of that Casey scheme was him acting alone, it's the organization as a whole looking at everything from the player skillsets on up. They have one of the most expensive sportsvue installations in the league and 2-3 guys in the gondola for every game taking metrics. That's why I know Masai wasn't throwing Casey under the bus in that presser, there's a collective "we" under everything he says.
If you look at the collection of guys on this roster, and what they did before they got here, it's clear that for the most part they're putting guys with flaws in positions to thrive. I'm not so sure this group would actually be better if they'd come out trying to move the ball like the Spurs. Yes, they need to in order to break the traps on DeRozan, but TOs would go up if it was their default mode. As both MIL and CLE feast in transition that's the last thing you want.
For sure you can question Casey's game management and counter moves, and you won't catch me saying he's elite. TBF I'm still surprised he survived the Washington sweep, he was originally a Colangelo hire. But as a franchise custodian I think he's actually been pretty capable overall.
By shun Go To PostHire Mark Brownhe must be the coach that developed Al Richardson right?

Alvin Gentry off to the Pelicans
Luke Walton to the Lakers
Mike Brown??? I just want him off our staff and sucker some other team.
Some team will bite. The Raptors don't need another defensive minded coach. They need someone who can run an offense around the versatility of their players and part of that is moving pieces to get that to work. Players like Jonas need to leave, DeRozan really needs to expand his offensive tools. A supporting cast that will not stagnate the offense.
If you want an offensive coach, take someone out of someone else's coaching tree or be creative and hire someone fresh. Sean Miller? Shaka Smart? They chilling in NCAA, if the Raptors didn't get sweep then maybe they would have taken a good look at a NBA debut. Give David Blatt another chance?
There are a lot of options other than retreading known names.
Why you hate Mike Brown on your staff?
I understand why you wouldn't want him as a HC but he is a great assistant.

He's sort of redundant with Ron Adams tho.
I don't hate him, he seems like a chill guy. With Kerr questionable moving forward, I'm unsure Brown is the guy that makes the adjustments, substitutions, and rest as the interim head coach.

So who are the heat targeting? With the way they finished the season I have to imagine they are hungry
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostSo who are the heat targeting? With the way they finished the season I have to imagine they are hungryResigning James Johnson, picking up Ellington's option, healthy Winslow, giving Reed a small offer, I wouldn't mind keeping Waiters but I don't think we'll have the money and Philly or Brooklyn will sign him. Maybe going after JaMychal Green? I don't know. I think this core minus Waiters but plus a healthy Winslow could do some things.

Pat Riley has both confirmed and clarified his contract status to in the wake of an inquiry from the Sun Sentinel.Article
The Heat confirmed the report in ESPN the Magazine that Riley a year ago agreed to a five-year extension to continue in his role as team president, which would keep him under contract through the 2020-21 season, when he will turn 76.
In that profile, it was mentioned that Riley's agreement is "with the understanding that he can work anywhere, including his [Malibu] perch overlooking the Pacific." However, when asked about that element of the agreement, with Riley's long-standing ties to the Los Angeles area, where he both played with and coached for the Los Angeles Lakers, Riley clarified through a team spokesman that "he is not going anywhere for an extended period."
Riley has commuted between homes in Malibu and Miami, with the bulk of his time in South Florida since joining the Heat in September 1995.
I don't think he plans on completing that contract. My guess is as soon as he gets another ring he'll retire.
