This is probably the best Thunder rebrand I've seen. I have quibbles but it's pretty good.

By blackace Go To PostEven more than Jackson?
Jackson seems undersized and with little to no shooting touch.
Could be his flaky form though.
He also seems to have feasted in college largely on his athleticism.
Tatum seems to have the better frame, developed basketball skills, to go a long with his athleticism. Someone you can genuinely play at the 3 or small 4.

Nope, Boston clinched at least the 2nd seed tonight, they're 2 games up with 1 game to go.

pretty sure Jackson is bigger than him. or at least the same size at worst.
also a much better defender than tatum who plays zip zero on that end.
now that the lakers dont have a shot at 2nd worst,
watch them lose their last two.

Tatum is much wider and thicker. Jackson is more Ingram.
Jackson is the better college defender. But that regularly doesn't translate. His biggest defensive achievement is that he can defend 1 - 4 in college. He won't be able to do that in the NBA. 4's will brush him off, and the step up for point guards ....
Effectively meaning, Jacksons biggest plus side will be that he can defend either SG or SF. Maybe one day PF. So we're drafting Aminu with the 2 or 3 pick?
Jackson doesn't look like he'll ever be a floor spacer either. His 3pt % seems more a small sample size thing, when he's only a 55% FT shooter. Tatum is a genuinely improving shooter, who has his 3pt % up to 34.2, along with a 85% FT shooter. He would appear to be the more solid shooter.
Literally everything Jackson does, Tatum does better, except defend. Tatum already has the basics of the PnR / PnP. Post game. Spot up shooter.
Suns have a guy just like Jackson already in Chriss anyway for athleticism. And an athletic slasher in TJ Warren. Both of whom highlight the perils of Jacksons big downsides. TJ Warren also doesn't have a big frame, and he struggles to the point of not being able to, play the small ball 4. Chriss is a hyper athletic pogo stick, with minimal shooting touch and mediocre footwork.
I'd rather be trying to teach a guy defense in the NBA, than trying to teach him everything about offense.
Giri if Jackson's good college d won't translate to the league what do you thinks gonna happen with Tatum's bad college d? Tatum looks like a Tobias Harris Donyell Marshall type to me.
By Kabro Go To Postnow that the lakers dont have a shot at 2nd worst,It's ok the Lakers young core is good enough. Y'all don't really need anymore lottery picks. Now's the time to sit back and see where Randle and Russell can lead you...

I'd rather teach defense than offense in the NBA. Tatum can play D, he just doesn't. Whether that's because of how much he's used on O, or other excuses, i don't know. But it's much easier to make a defensive deficient player defensively average. Than it is to make an offensively inept player, offensively average. Ones about skill, the other about effort.
I could be way off. But where Jackson reminds me of Chriss / Aminu, Tatum makes me think more Klay/Melo.
By blackace Go To Postthey the same weight tho..
Noticed that. Weird, look at their frames and they're very different. Several sites also commented about it.
Yeah but Tobias Harris isn't garbage. If Tatum can come out to be a solid role player like Harris then that's good enough for where he's projected. Which is mid lottery or end of the lottery.

How many top lottery picks learn how to play defense in the NBA? Most of the time, they go to terrible teams where they won't be asked to do that and never develop the skills. I'm not saying Tatum won't, but the odds are against him.
I think it matters that Jackson has already shown that skill set. I think he's a better passer, too. He's just a more well-rounded player.

Then I saw that they still had Josh Jackson at #1 and then realized my mistake.

And his only offensvie skill i've seen has been beating people with his first step or jumping over them.

Guys with that limited skill set don't seem to make it in the NBA.
You're not wrong. Tatum could be a complete no go on defense. But i'm not sure you draft Aminu in the top 5.
By giririsss Go To Postnbadraft.net has Boston taking Josh Jackson first.
That would be amazing if the Suns landed Fultz.
The only teams that would pick Jackson first over Fultz if they won the lottery is Orlando, the Kangs, and post Hinkie 76rs
Again, Jackson could be more Giannis than Aminu. He seems to be a decent passer. But so does Tatum.
Jackson seems to be more SG/SF Tatum SF/PF.
His first step is really good. He is very good athletically. And he is a more than willing defender.

There is no single team that wouldn't pick Fultz first. Even the Celtics would take him and just deal with the IT situation later.

By masud Go To PostMuscle weighs more than fat.
I think Jackson could be the best player in this draft. He could be what people thought Wiggins could be. Yeah his shot needs work but he can get his own shot and that is a premium skill that many wings lack and never learn. That being said, Winslow and MKG were very similar and their creation ability did not translate and thus they are 3 and D guys...without the 3....Winslow especially is the reason I pulled back on my Jackson stannery because I also thought he had next (still could for all I know...shit takes time afterall) after he was pulling off Eurosteps and putting the team on his back doe in the tourney, only to realize he was doing this against college 4s....just like Jackson. So yeah.
I also think the fact that I have stayed away from watching Fultz due to not wanting to set myself up for disappointment when we stay at 5 also comes into play. But still if you have a wing player that can get his own shot consistently, play passable defense, and not be a full on black hole....you contend. That is the holy grail IMO of building a team for me....

NBA draft.net is shit. Draft express and to a lesser degree Chad ford are the only two that semi know wtf they are talking about. Lakers wouldn't take Ball over Fultz right? Like come on....... edit: I forgot Lakers were number #3 wtf lakers slaent.....
With that said if the Suns somehow came into Fultz and Booker.... wow. They could be legit contenders for best back court duo next year.
With that said if no one moves up. I don't see Tatum lasting past Orlando at #5

Fultz, Booker, Ulis off the bench. Back court solved. Trade Knight AND Bledsoe.

You're stuck with Knight but a trio of (healthy) Bledsoe, Fultz, Booker...... would destroy a lot of backcourts. I wouldn't rush to trade Bledsoe tell you the truth.

Bledsoe will get moody. And his trade value won't get higher. Just pull the trigger on it.
Knight will get moved. Just not the return a lot of people thought.
Suns biggest problem is they don't have a definitive long term solution at 4 or 5.

It opens up the trademarket for Bledsoe. And they should get some solid returns for him. Almost worth throwing the lot in on a potential PG trade.
