By Zabojnik Go To PostAny particular reason? Attitude problems or not up to the task? Not up to the task. He is talented but lacks on the tactical side of things.
That's quite the coincidence.
By Hitch Go To PostDon't think I'll be watching MotD tonightYou mean you don't want to watch the extended highlights from a 0-0 draw between Stoke and West Ham?

By Laboured Go To PostConsider this United lads: Moyes's United contract still has 2 more years left on it.Would that contract expire at the same time as Pardew's at Newcastle?
By Laboured Go To PostConsider this United lads: Moyes's United contract still has 2 more years left on it.It's like no one used a modicum of common sense when coming up with that ridiculous contract.

It was 8 years from 2012 wasnt it
lmao
Wonder how much money Newcastle had to pay to release him

He was lucky to be at the club, not the other way around. You held all the cards to say '2/3 years, maybe an extension int he summer if you impress enough.'
If the idea was to make him feel like he had his feet under the table and get him confident to make the big calls correctly, it didn't work. Job was clearly too big for him a matter of weeks into his tenure.
La Liga refs fucking hate their job
Can't wait to get into the dressing room
2 minutes at the end of the Clasico ffs

By Hitch Go To PostIts bizarreYeah, I guess that was the idea, but fuck man, a 4 year contract works just fine. Then if he wins 3 trebles in a row give him a 10 year contract or whatever. It was a massive change and like you say, even at the time it wasn't like he held any of the bargaining chips.

I dunno. To me he always looked fucking clueless and it was funny for a while. I've no doubt in my mind he really believed they were going to sign Ronaldo and Bale and Cesc and whoever else for him. He was that clueless and over his head, which makes you wonder about the people who sit in a room with him to evaluate him ahead of offering him so much.

John Barnes, not that he knows anything in particular, thinks Van Dijk would be the perfect signing for Liverpool.
Have they been linked with him extensively? I could see that working out (as in he'd be a good fit).

The more interesting point there is that Monaco expect to sell only him and Silva, which was something I felt would happen for quite a while. Probably better at protecting their players than an Atletico or a Dortmund would be for the simple fact that they are in Monaco (both physical and taxation benefits). I feel like if they can keep Madrid away from Mbappe they can quite quickly become a powerhouse

Expect he'll be at City next season. For £50m we'd almost certainly have to ignore other positions that need filling.

I expect the same since nobody else will fork up the £40-50 million or whatever his estimated worth might be. Not to pile on them too much but they do have a habit of cutting extraordinarily large checks for defenders.

They made that change nearly two years ago.
