By Laboured Go To PostYeah but that was more than 10 years ago and therefore doesn't count.
10 years is a long time. People change.
Or is Wenger still a great manager because he once went undefeated in the league?
By Wedward Go To PostThere are plenty of examples of the contrary.Sure but for every trophy that an Atletico and Leicester have won, how many have City, United, Chelsea, Bayern, PSG, Monaco, Barca and Madrid etc...won? It's not even close.
By n8 dogg Go To PostWhat the fuck did Ranieri 'build'
idk jtb out here just typing shit to pass the day along i guess.
By n8 dogg Go To PostWhat the fuck did Ranieri 'build'Is anyone even arguing Ranieri vs Mourinho?
edit: missed that particular jtb post

What's your point? One is clearly a more impressive managerial feat than the other.
By Hitch Go To PostIs anyone even arguing Ranieri vs Mourinho?
Fuck it, I'll argue it. MOURINHO WON TROPHIES WITH A TEAM RANIERI BUILT.
kidding
By Wedward Go To PostWhy is he only there for 3 years? He's a cunt. We all know he's a cunt. But he's a cunt that wins trophies.
By Hitch Go To PostShit teams used to be able to win the CL in those days tbf…
like liverpool amirite
no but seriously, the winners in the years before porto winning it were milan, real madrid and bayern and after porto were liverpool, barcelona and milan. none of those were shit teams back then.
I don't think Mou is stale. He won the league two years ago. He's in with a chance of winning two trophies this season. It isn't as easy as throwing money at it, otherwise Pep would be doing better this season, Gaal would have done better, Chelsea would have done better in the years between Mou and his return (save a top ancelotti year and CL madness)
That said, I think he has been left behind a tad tactically. If he wins the league in two years and then fucks off that's fine by me. Still won shit. As long as we aren't in disarray :lol

By Wedward Go To PostBelieve he was taking about the last decade.Actually he amended that to his post-Inter tenure (titles after that don't count for some reason, i.e. spending money on players).
Van Gaal is the perfect example of someone who got old and stale! I thought he was the perfect manager to replace Wenger, and his spell at United was fucking turgid and awful.
What have you done for me lately, etc.
My personal belief has been (not that it really matters): Mourinho's motivational tactics haven't worked since he gouged Tito in the eye in the name of "motivation." Because he's a fucking sad petty man and, after that, everyone knew it.

Different not winning anything meaningful for 10+ years to winning the treble with Porto over 10 years ago and repeating that treble since with Inter and winning many other big titles in the meantime.

If you finish below Everton, you're shite. Simple as that ¬¬
By Bold 2 in One Go To PostEpic bottle job incoming?
Nah. Chelsea aren't very good at defending but Saints will shit the bed and let them score a couple more.
Would fucking love it it Chelsea bottled it. Don't see it unfortunately. Spurs will get shook at some point and Chelsea's run in is too easy.
Was just told about this local stabbing. Guy was stabbed so he beat the stabber unconscious, told onlookers the only reason he didn't kill him was because it was Good Friday, then said a prayer while the ambulances arrived. Fair play all round I say, shake hands and move on.

So everybody doesn't do it the same way.
By Bold 2 in One Go To PostEpic bottle job incoming?probably not but i would love it
tbf if City were in the EL and fell behind the top 4 in the league reasonably early on, they'd probably have gone far

Odd how Pulisball and Fat Sam still work wonders though. English football is the worst.
By jtb Go To PostWhat's your point? One is clearly a more impressive managerial feat than the other.Oh, okay. Kudos to them and their massive achievement. I'll stick with the latter though because that is unfortunately the modern game now.

He'll win trophies with United, go to PSG win trophies there and people will still bitch about him not being up to it.

Even Bundesliga winner Magath failed in England, all while stars like Pep Guardiola is struggling as well.
Only one reasonable explanation.

Related, but unrelated Q: do you guys think Zidane is a good manager?
Everything I've seen is pretty uninspired. Perez's attempt at his own poor man's Pep.
And yet Roman didn't think he was the right man for the job. Sad!

I think he has clearly lost a step.
Don't think he is incapable of winning trophies though. I think almost any top manager given enough time and money can win a league title.
By Hitch Go To PostTrophies at PSG mean absolutely fuck all tbf, or will do once Monaco get dismantled. He'll win the CL with PSG too.
