Anyway, why do liverpool struggle with the small teams. I rarely watch those games.
This is the same Crystal Palace that just beat Chelsea and trounced Arsenal. They're a team of good players who were being mismanaged and are now playing at their potential instead of far below it.
The proceeding two fixtures (Stoke away, WBA away) were both more difficult and we came out of those with 6 points, so there are signs of improvement.
So on the one hand you're right that it's another loss against a low-table team, but considering recent form from Palace and ourselves (not to mention their superb record at Anfield) it's not really a shock result or anything to get too upset about.
To answer your question about why we struggle,
I'd say it's because we lack players who can change the tempo of a game. It doesn't help missing your best midfielder (Hendo), your fastest player (Mané) and Lallana, whose role is hard to define but still so important to the team. With Can and Lucas in midfield and Origi as our right winger, we don't have enough attacking guile. As for the goals conceded, we constantly misjudge and overcommit against players who we should just muscle out or foul in the build-up. The corner was basically a brain fart moment. Should have done better there, really disappointing way to concede.
If we maintain our 2 points per game it'll put us on 74 points which should be enough for CL qualification this year. We'll have two win two and draw two (or better, obviously).
And count me in the group who doesnt give a hoot if Sakho and Benteke want to celebrate getting one over on us. I don't think they were hard done by the club—Benteke wasn't good enough and Sakho violated the club ethos, and a good manager should be willing to dismiss good players who aren't 100% committed—but at the same time if I were in their position I'd be happy getting one over on my old employers. They were friends while at LFC so if they wanna celebrate together be my guest, they deserve if.
According to Kicker, we're in for Alexis Sánchez.
Not bad, I guess. Although, we are going full cuntiness.

No other team in the world would show the fighting spirit our boys showed even after going down to 10 men. There are plenty of clubs out there who just give up, who would sit back and try to minimize the damage. We managed to push forward and equalize in the last few minutes, we still tried to push forward recklessly towards the end to get another goal and suffered for it.
But we did not lack spirit or heart. We can lose this joke league and I wouldn't be pissed (ok, maybe a bit) because at least our players did not give up in any of the matches this season.

I don't think any of the Castilla defenders including Lienhart are ready for this level.
We'll probably play Casemiro as CB but his short height along with Nacho's makes us very vulnerable In aerial battles, and he's gotten very reckless recently..

Your little fighting spirit nonsense, which I'm assuming unironically really does make you feel better, might be suitable if you were talking about Leicester - but you're not. You're talking literally about the most expensive squad on earth (over 20x that of Leicester) like they're some scrappy underdog.
Shit like this is exactly why everyone rolls their collective eyes before, during, and after these Clasicos, because the drivel that pours out of each set of supporters is so out of touch with reality it's become theater. The two clubs really do deserve one another.
They are both as bad as each other - which makes it all the more hilarious when both sets of fans try to claim the moral high-ground.

You're using money and squad value as indicators for success.
What the fuck are Premier League teams doing in Europe.
What the fuck did Chelsea do last season to end up in that position and then end up being first in the league this season.
What the fuck is United doing with all that money they have, buying one of the most expensive players of all time and being 5th in the table.
What the fuck City everything.
You use Leicester City as an example of an underdog with no money but then they go further in the champions league than all the other premier league teams and their money. Shit goes both ways.

Problem being that if every team maintains their current PPG, Liverpool end up 5th. I'd like to see you guys make the CL next year, and United's run in makes that a little more likely, but you guys must be one of the more infuriating teams to watch. So clearly have the ability to blow teams away.
You've predictably missed the point. I'm not using money or anything other than your "woe is us attitude" to point out how absurd it is to make excuses for the players or manager. You can claim to only be supporting your club, but that's bullshit. You're giving them an excuse for failing and disappointing you in the moment by making it seem as if they routinely have some uphill battle to win.
You can't find a post from me here or at the other site acting as if spending money isn't a fundamental key to success. But you also won't read any unironic posts from me claiming any big spending Prem, French or Italian sides are little horses or need more time to grow and mature. That's also bullshit.
Chelsea were the biggest failures of the year last season. United have been failing since the old man retired. But again you don't see their supporters week after week after week in here talking out their ass acting completely out of touch with their situation. That's almost exclusively a Barca and Madrid thing.
And it's ridiculous when we have members who support clubs who are already relegated to lower leagues to have to come and read this shit from not a big club, but the biggest clubs.

I'd rather win the CL every year than the league to be honest.
Nobody has won the CL twice in a row, teams have won their league 3-4-5-... times in a row.
Especially in a 3 team league like La Liga.

You said this, not me: "You're talking literally about the most expensive squad on earth (over 20x that of Leicester) like they're some scrappy underdog. "
I'm not giving them an excuse for failing. I'm commending them for keeping up their fighting spirit where other teams have failed. There was no "woe is us" in my post at all, and where the fuck did I call Real Madrid a little horse. We're the biggest club in football and possibly one of the biggest clubs in sports. You're putting words in my mouth.
I'm going to be real for a second and put away my bias: We're facing Barcelona in the league every season. One of the best footballing sides of all time with one of the greatest players of all time (Messi). We're just not consistent enough. This is not a one team league like Bundesliga where Bayern can play like shit the whole season and still win it all.
And fans from different clubs have different expectations, don't bring in that lower league bullshit.
We won the champions league 2 times in 3 years and I'm still happy about that. 1 champions league is worth way more than league titles to me.

He's right though.
This loss and not winning the league is a huge failure in my opinion. Barca is miles away from having consistent form. They are literally at the end of an era. Their midfield is in shambles. Their coach clueless. They went into a line of 6 defenders against 10 men for christ sake, after scoring the 1-2 and invited pressure, dissolving the midfield, turning completely passive. This isn't the Barca we know from the last few years. This is a bad joke of a team that stands and falls with the performance of individuals, be it Neymar, Messi or whoever. But not a team.
On the other hand we have Real fans gushing about 40 games without a loss, but might end the season with nothing in our hands. How on earth is that not an earth salting fucking disappointment of huge proportions. If I'd be Zidane I would have burned the goddamn dressing room down and chained the door with every player inside. And if I'd be Perez I'd try to do the same thing with the team AND Zidane inside.
And me personally. I want to do the same thing with the team, Zidane and Perez inside.
No this is unacceptable. Having won the title only once in 8 years is bad enough, but this year there are absolutely no excuses.

I don't think it's a huge failure in my opinion, I see things differently.
Zidane has played a whole bunch of youngsters and Madrid youth products. Compare this to Ancelotti who ran the team into the ground playing the same starting XI over and over. OK, maybe we're not winning the league now (which is not over yet, and neither is the Champions League) but we'll see which team comes out on top in the future when Ronaldo and Messi decline/retire. Depending on how we build the team now for the future, we might turn La Liga into our very own one-team league with Barcelona's horrible transfer policy, the neglect of their own youth academy which gave them their best players and their current aging players. The worst performances last night incidentally came from our most veteran players (Ronaldo, Benzema, Ramos)
There were some terrible blunders last night including playing Bale, which by the way, every Madrid fan in this thread called out and we were met by dismissal. Until it turned out we were right. We also played with a 4th choice CB because our best ones were injured and Ramos had a moment of madness. Terrible finishing and lapses of concentration also let us down.
People quickly forget how long we were mediocre in the Champions League and we finally overcame that block and won 2 of them in 3 years. We do have a La Liga title drought but this will end too.
I didn't intend to make a light-hearted post to bring some positivity to Madrid fans here to generate this amount of discussion lol. I am disappointed too but I'm not enraged.
