okc hasn't had a team long enough to be impacted much by how bad they fukt up

By s y Go To PostThat's good to hear man.It still might be in the best long-term interest of the franchise. Who knows, maybe the Czzzzz blow us away with a Godfather offer before the draft.
Even though two months ago you wanted to blow it up and trade Westbrook
What's a defensive win share.
Drummond and Steph doesn't belong on that list. That advanced stat is broken af.

By Kabro Go To PostWhat's a defensive win share. It's essentially minutes played, blocks, steals and defensive rebounds factored into how good the teams defense is.

Steph gets steals on a great defensive team, and Drummond gets lots of rebounds.
I don't think you need that stat to tell you that Gobert is the most impact-full defender in the NBA though.
By Kibner Go To PostThat's a pretty garbage stat, unfortunately, as Drummond is on the list, along with Westbrook and Curry. A fifth of that list being average, at best, defenders isn't a good look. IIRC, it highly values rebounds which is why all those guys but Curry is on there (he gets it through his high number of steals).
I can never trust basketball-reference.com again.
De'Aaron Fox would be such an Orlando Magic pick
If Charlotte drafts TJ Leaf there needs to be a full blown investigation

Nah, just need to learn about what goes into a stat, the strength and weaknesses of it, and any caveats.
e: Don't trust any all-in-one individual player defensive stat, basically. Use them to inform and get general ball-park stuff so that you can refine what you are looking for. Just know that they are pretty categorically bad to use in player-to-player comparison. Especially when on separate teams.

Sure, this I knew. I just happened to remember seeing that yesterday and being like "Harden? Huh." Because the stat's not any kind of measure of man defence, but it is at least measuring some kind of meaningful defensive contribution. And my impression of Harden has always been that he has two moves on D: reach for the steal, or just stand there.

Other random thing I noticed: Kyrie Irving is in his 6th season, but is still only 24. That seems crazy to me, the guy has been around playing in major games forever but he's still years away from his prime.
By chandlerparsons Go To PostThat 'somehow' is Harden. He skipped playing in the Olympics so he could work with the front office to find guys that could fit his style. He bought into D'Antoni's proposition to play point guard (which I thought was stupid when I first heard it, but it was more a change of mindset than it was a change in amount of time with ball in hand).
When we missed out on Horford and Bazemore (lol) and ended up with Anderson and Gordon, there were concerns about their defence and durability. He thinks about getting those guys involved offensively, which probably helps when they need to play on the other end. Anderson hasn't played this many games since New Orleans were the Hornets, and Gordon hasn't since his rookie year. For that I'm thankful, but I feel like a change in scenery has done them some good.
There were doubts about Harden's leadership, about how he'd gel with D'Antoni, about his lifestyle, about his empty stats and ability to share the ball coming into the season. The turnaround in chemistry led by Harden from this to what it is now is worth way more than 2 rebounds to me.
I mean that's exactly what it is, Harden buying in and getting everyone else involved. That is the somehow, and it is a huge turnaround from the cancerous seasons he had with Dwight and prior to this season.
I'm not discrediting Harden at all. Even though I think his game is ugly and I hate watching the way he plays, what he is doing is incredible and you can't knock that.
That's why I've been saying that what he does all this season, is more impressive than Russell Westbrook.
finally doing a little draft scouting
I may have underestimated fox

The first half of this video in particular is the sort of stuff you just don't see at the college level from a freshmen too often. With that kind of trash court spacing he routinely is able to keep his dribble alive at the free throw line, know there are guys all around him and a defender in front of him and still get those little mid range jumpers and floaters off.
He's probably going to be pretty good.

Knicks rumored to be looking hard at Josh Jackson if he's there over Monk. While I have no huge issue with that even in a great guard draft, the rumored reasoning is that "Jackson would be a better Triangle player due to his skillset".
...
I wonder if Jeff Hornacek likes being cuckolded.

since rob might get fired after the season i dunno what the situation is for the magic but if i had to guess they'll probably go for one of the 3s if they don't have a shot at ball or fultz

Given his injury history, this really might be his prime. He might be one of those guys that has to retire by the time he's 30.
half of dsj's threes were unassisted
he was a malingerer at time and didn't really try on defense but his skillset is so tailor-made for nba pg play that i can't help but feel he's being undervalued. no way should monk or fox be above him...people will likely smarten up by the combine and see his athleticism up close

By pilonv1 Go To PostWarriors have been better defensively without him thoWhich is baffling, because KD was playing really well on defense.
Wonder if it has more to do with playing conventional lineups more? (Haven't been watching).

KD actually being on court and doing shit this early, god is real. Or Lacob rehired our entire medical staff to be as shady as Chicago/Utah/New Orleans

Andre played more minutes and looked like Philly Andre again, I think that is part of it. Also West has been fitting in really well.

They're about to be 12-4 in March, they've been really good since Middleton returned to the starting lineup and Giannis might be the 2nd best player in the East. Don't sleep on them.

Yeah. And if Giannis finds another gear in the play offs shit could get REAL.

Still plenty of time
What even happened to Charlotte? They were supposed to be much better this season because MKG actually survived a whole year and you came odd career Marvin, you have career Frank, Kemba.
Did all your dudes just say fuck it I got mine and paid?
Looks like Batum and some others just clocked out after getting their money.
