Silver needs to end the back to back scheduling crap and then end this bullshit where teams sit stars for play off rest. They also need the Lakers to save their ratings so he better deliver Fultz.

I really couldn't believe Lue rested those guys on a Saturday afternoon primetime game against another playoff team. Especially when they played the Lakers the night after. That was a head scratcher and the first thing I thought about was him getting a nice fine for it.

Teams are there to win Chips. Chips bring major sponsors and ad money. Rest is a huge part of preserving players for play offs.
We can hate it, but the solution is to drop back to 60 odd games. But that means less broadcast rights. So that's never happening.
By giririsss Go To PostAnd i'll say it, with out Gentry there as an assistant the offense really doesn't seem as .. fluid.Well if rumors out of New Orleans are true, there is a good chance they will get to be reunited.
Maybe Gentry isn't a head coach (i still say it's hard to judge anything on his time at the pels), but he is a very good assistant.
I wonder how much of it is them not revealing anything before the play offs, versus just not having as versatile a roster.

Which is going to be nuts. I really don't know who they'll get to replace him, that is definitively better.
How about if you sit out a game, you have to sit out a minimum of games.. like 4?
Teams will probably just have a guy check in and somebody will foul and they will check out.. but it's something.

By diehard Go To Postyeah the NBA is totally going to let that slideDoing it to themselves with the schedule and the games they decide to feature. Don't want players resting on a nationally broadcast game? Then make sure there is at least a day of rest before and after it for both teams.

I just wonder if he fits the roster and the direction they are going.. Having a real twin towers who can almost do everything is a tricky juggling act to get going

Well ok not the day after..

By diehard Go To PostThat game literally had exactly that.I thought they played the Lakers the next day?
Oh, see your edit now. Yeah, a team with realistic championship aspirations will be more than fine with punting a game from a b2b. Just schedule the game so that all the features don't have either team on the front or back end of a b2b.

Cousins still is struggling to adjust and definitely has some conditioning concerns, but all of that was expected.
I don't even understand the Cavs resting their starters that game, they weren't exactly on a heavy road schedule:
They had a 1 day break between their two prior games, so it would make more sense to rest them against LAL.

Guarantee this is Durant and his reps speaking anonymously through the team. He already showed that he cares way more than he should about what people think of him. Skip Bayless got to him ffs.

They have beaten a few decent teams in that time.. but so we will see...
Have you heard who they might be thinking to replace Gentry?
By reilo Go To PostI don't even understand the Cavs resting their starters that game, they weren't exactly on a heavy road schedule:Not if you subscribe to the thought that it is better to go 1-1 than 0-2 while also playing the game that pushes their bodies the least.

Fire Gentry for.....who? Thats where I get worried.
Ettore Messina? JVG? Monty Williams(who no way Demps would hire back lol)? None of which I would consider sure things.
By blackace Go To PostThey have beaten a few decent teams in that time.. but so we will see…Not from anyone I trust. They think that if something happens, Demps is gone and who knows who the new GM will bring in. The fear is Dumars and Avery Johnson since they are native sons.

JVG would be an interesting fit.. I feel it would be either really good or super horrible..
Shaka Smart from Texas could be a Brad Stevens kind of success story..
JVG's name gets brought up every year as a potential coach. Dude is not coming back, he's been out of the game for over a decade.
Smart isn't nearly the coach Stevens is. He had only a couple good years that he made noise in the tournament. Was unable to dominate his weak conference consistently.

He isn't out the game by choice.. I figure every team was like we want to run like the Warriors and JVG told them he would slow the gane to a crawl..

He stayed in command at VCU, and had a decent first year at Texas and a not so good one this season. NCAA basketball is more about recruiting than anything else..
I worry that JVG would be to the Pelicans what Mike Ditka was to the Saints.
A coach that has been out of the game, who's current outlook somewhat boils down to "well, back in my day, we did things like this... and these kids today, I'm telling you." Which I don't think has ever really worked for anyone, at least in modern sports. Politics is another story...

If JVG wanted to be back I'm sure there's a franchise somewhere that would take him. But really, we're nearing the 2-decade anniversary of him being out of coaching. He's missed the evolution of like 3 different eras. Isn't it kind of unlikely that he's really the answer anymore?
________
I don't even know what a true max contract is anymore. Is it even possible for Boston to offer Hayward one outright?

I always had him pegged as an amphetamine guy. Coke lasts like 30 minutes, he stays wired and edgy for days. I still remember announcers saying "he was so amped for this playoff game, he didn't even sleep last night! What a motor!" ...as he spazzed around the court screaming at people around him the next afternoon. That has speed freak written all over it.
By reilo Go To PostHe last coached the Rockets in 2007.

You're right, I completely tuned out him being exasperated with T-Mac chilling on hospital beds for four years.
By reilo Go To PostPCP is a helluva drug
"PCP in low doses produce a numbness in the extremities and intoxication, characterized by staggering, unsteady gait, slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and loss of balance. "
Those effects better describe a different player...
By diehard Go To Postwell, new Career high for Hayward.
It's only 38 points is the kinda surprising part
He's making like a slow-motion Westbrook tonight, totally carrying the Jazz.
Indiana looks like such an easy first round out right now. I don't blame George for being frustrated.
_____
He daggered that one though!
Gobert and Hayward were completely dominant and we still lose.
Get absolutely nothing from our 4 spot.
I'm really down on our playoff chances right now.
