Though CP3 could play a long time jsut like Kidd did, CP3 has pretty terrible knee's.

By pilonv1 Go To PostI think CP3 could play until 40 if his knees hold up.Didnt he say that he doesn't want to play past 35 or something?
By rodeoclown Go To PostThe Wolves are now 9-5 without Zach LaVine.Maybe three negative defenders in the starting lineup was one too many and since they have better balance, things are going better? (I have no idea who replaced LaVine since the injury). (This post was also a badly written hot-take. I haven't looked into what has changed with them.)
(I like parentheses; they are cool, much like LISP)
Brandon Rush starts now, but he's so washed that it doesn't matter. It's more collective. Towns is insane, Wiggins is putting the ball in the hoop at a rate he never has, Rubio is playing like it's 2013 and he has to carry Mikael Gelabale and Dante Cunningham and Thibs is getting really good bench minutes from Bjelica and Tyus lately.
I'm reading comparisons between Embiid and Oden's situations, and they're kinda scary similar. Embiid has to play like 50 games next season just to match the number of games Oden played on his rookie contract.
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postso did the meniscus tear occur along with the bone bruise like KD?No.
By livefromkyoto Go To PostI'm reading comparisons between Embiid and Oden's situations, and they're kinda scary similar. Embiid has to play like 50 games next season just to match the number of games Oden played on his rookie contract. On the surface they're similar but Oden suffered multiple knee injuries to the same knee and had multiple microfractures. No doubt that Embiid's knee issues are related to his foot, but none of his injuries thus far have been anywhere near as devastating. When Oden came back from his first microfracture, he split his knee cap in half by jumping and then had another microfracture later.
Embiid doesn't know how to land. Him also growing two inches probably threw him out of wack. He also does too much.

I read that he had a slight tear in his meniscus (it was through the ESPN fantasy app), but that report was quickly taken down.

torn meniscus?
sounds like Oden again.
how awful is this?
Tearing your meniscus as long as you repair it isn't awful. Removing it is what causes long-term knee issues, e.g. Brandon Roy. Again, until Embiid has severe knee surgeries like Oden did, the comparison is superficial atm.
What I was saying with KD was basically asking if Embiid suffered his meniscus injury from the injury that caused the bone bruise. KD's bone bruise also resulted in a grade 2 meniscus sprain.
While many seem to criticize the style of offense, Knicks F Kristaps Porzingis is a fan of the triangle and believes the Knicks should have been stressing it from the start of the season. The main thing that playing more triangle does is it forces more movement and cutting in an offense where the point guard has no inclination of creating offense for others. It puts Anthony and Porzingis in more decision making spots and makes their two man game easier. I can get the backlash against the system when you're got competent passing point guards, but the Knicks current guys are Rose, Chasson Randle (lol) and Ron Baker (another high IQ player who benefits from the system). Fuck, triangle this bitch up. Might actually result in wins instead of playing closing and always losing at the last minute. The only starter who's ever complained about it this year ironically is Rose himself.
"We're starting to learn it now the way we should [and] we should have been playing from the beginning of the season," Porzingis told Al Iannazzone of Newsday. "So we're a little behind. But every game we're getting a little better. Hopefully, I don't know when, we can start using it properly and making some impact playing it."
The Knicks have been utilizing more of the triangle offense since returning from the All-Star break last week, and their 7-foot-3 big man, who the team considers to be their center piece to build around moving forward, is happy about the change.
"I like the triangle," said Porzingis. "My first season, the whole first season we played nothing but the triangle so I know it pretty well. I like the offense. It can only work if everybody believes in it and everybody executes it the right way."
The 21-year old forward returned to the court Wednesday night and looked strong after missing the previous two games due to a sprained right ankle. Porzingis started at center in New York's win over Orlando, and produced 20 points and 9 rebounds in 33 minutes.

The biggest problem is that you're turning your core over every year.
That makes it useless. Because there's only one team out there trying to run it as their primary set, and not just 1 or 2 plays.
So your entire core has to learn it all over again. From the ground up. And get buy in, all over again.

you writing this big ass blurb in favor of it but the Knicks ran pure triangle last season and they were a (deep!) lottery team.
By giririsss Go To PostThe biggest problem is that you're turning your core over every year. When you got a chance to pay Joakim Noah 4/72, trade a decent, low cost big in Lopez for Derrick Rose and sign Brandon Jennings to a 1-year deal (and then not trade Rose for Rubio), you gotta do it.

By Face it Tiger.. Go To Postyou writing this big ass blurb but the Knicks ran pure triangle last season and was a (deep!) lottery team.I didn't say they played better or were more talented, I said they ran more of a functioning offense and had willing passers. The offense runs worse than last year, and that's more due to whatever the fuck Hornacek runs not working, Carmelo getting older, KP regressing a bit and Rose being Rose. Would be nice if Lord Phil had a plan to rebuild or something...
By The Frankman Go To PostW I said they ran more of a functioning offense and had willing passers. (please don't say Rose is the factor, he really hasn't changed much.)
http://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/phil-jackson-brings-back-triangle-offense-and-thats-more-bad-news-for-knicks/
The New York Knicks are 25th in defensive efficiency in the NBA.
The Knicks are 25th in defense in the NBA.
The Knicks are 25th in defense in the NBA.
Why am I repeating this? Because for some reason, Phil Jackson continues to fail to understand why it is that the team he put together sits at 24-36, 12 games under .500 and 4.5 games back of the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. Jackson continues to believe that the real answer which will solve all of the Knicks’ problems is their offense, and, particularly, the absence of the triangle offense in their systems.
[…]
First, off, that’s Kurt Rambis, who Jackson put in charge of … the defense! That’s right, the same defense that’s 25th and gave up this disastrous sequence on Monday night. Of note, Rambis has never been in charge of a top-10 defense.
The offense has been fine. It’s ranked 16th, and that’s with a terrible bench. Jeff Hornacek has lifted up Derrick Rose’s career to a certain degree and gotten contributions from multiple players. The offense hasn’t been an issue. So why on earth is that the focus, when, again, the defense is 25th?

It's a combination of factors, but the defense is much worse due to deficient personnel. Lopez > corpse of Noah/Hernangomez, and Galloway/Grant are MUCH better than the net negative that is Derrick Rose. Even adding Courtney Lee is negated by Rose's Sphere of Deficiency. KP has taken a hit defensively also and Carmelo was never a good defender, so all of those factors make it more important for the offense to be better. In short, the offense is a problem because the defense is worse than last year. And for the most part, the O can be fixed more easily in the short term.

So the problem is the guys who can play O are bad at D. The guys who are mediocre at D are totally inept at O?

By giririsss Go To PostSo the problem is the guys who can play O are bad at D. The guys who are mediocre at D are totally inept at O?The lack of two-way players has been a Knicks issue for awhile, but never to the degree it's been this year. I'd say some of the guys good at O are good at creating their own O (Rose) and the guys who were good and O and set up for others (KP, Anthony) aren't as much this season and have regressed. It's more complicated than that, but simply put the team construction/plan on offense this year doesn't fit well despite having more talent.
By blackace Go To PostA combination of things? Basically everything you listed were direct moves by Phil.. why ... that can't be right. Surely you must be mistaken. But that would mean Phil Jackson is doing a terrible job as a GM--
It's cute when Knicks fans become self aware for the brief two week period after every trade deadline when they realize their team actually sucks.
