Liverpool lost £20 million annually despite bringing in record revenues.
#ConcernPost
The Reds' overall revenue increased to £301.8m from £297.9m, as the club retained its place in the top 10 of the Deloitte Money League (ninth place).
But the figures show a significant drop on the £60m profit reported in last year's report, which was an anomaly borne from the £75m sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.
The previous year, ending May 31 2014, the Reds reported a £0.9m profit.
A number of factors contributed to the 2015/16 deficit.
Included in the latest figures was the cost of sacking Brendan Rodgers in October 2015, the appointment of Jurgen Klopp and his backroom staff and recruiting 12 new players including Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Marko Grujic, Danny Ings, Nathaniel Clyne and Joe Gomez.

New TV money and stadium expansion gives them more to play with going forward.
By Laboured Go To PostLiverpool lost £20 million annually despite bringing in record revenues.Surprising the revenue only grew by £4m in a year. That's half a noodle sponsor. Seriously though at a time when clubs are growing their revenue base as quickly as they are a ~1% increase is....bad.

By Laboured Go To PostHitch's assessment of Ayre as a Woodward-lite is looking uncharacteristically optimistic.Seems we must have badly plateaued after a few seasons of decent growth then
I'm not as anti-FSG as a lot of our fans are, but reckon they'll be looking to sell the club if the commercial arm doesn't pick up again.
There have been rumors about FSG bringing in outside investment, I think from China, but I hope they don't sell the club. They've been fine as owners, about as good as you could expect in terms of player fees and wages. New owners always bring an element of instability, where things have definitely settled off the pitch for Liverpool under FSG, and they've made big investments in infrastructure, expanding Anfield, the new training facility, Etc
By Hitch Go To PostSeems we must have badly plateaued after a few seasons of decent growth thenHmm, not sure about that. It’s been a while since I’ve looked at these finances closely but this is the first year where the revenue has stayed flat. It will bump up again next year because of the new TV money and additional match day revenue. And in general, the football market continues to grow richer. Global demand keeps increasing and I don’t think we are that far off all 380 PL games being televised.
I'm not as anti-FSG as a lot of our fans are, but reckon they'll be looking to sell the club if the commercial arm doesn't pick up again.
Your commercial revenue is still higher than Arsenal and Chelsea (may have changed now with new deals etc, but in the same ballpark) so you are doing okay there…but there is a question about whether you should be doing better. Okay the club doesn’t win and hasn’t for a long time…but it still has a big big reach.
Would have to look at the report for exceptions but one thing I would be worried about is that you sold Sterling for £50m in this period…but still reported a loss. I think you did have a positive net spend that summer but it was relatively small (~£30m). That suggests the club are more or less up to the wall in terms of spending power and unless they are willing to carry risk you can’t go out and spend £100m net.
From the perspective of FSG…the cautious approach is understandable. Why carry that risk when it guarantees nothing. The club as is will keep ticking over…revenue will keep growing in line with the market…and the manager might just develop a good enough team to get into the CL for a year or two at which point you might look to push the boat out.
This really is a classic case of between a rock and a hard place and the problem Liverpool have is that all of their rivals are in a better position than them (Spurs excepted...who have a better team on the pitch and have a new stadium in central London around the corner..)

Premier League champions Leicester have held informal talks with former England boss Roy Hodgson about becoming their new manager. So goodbye yellow brick road,
However, it is thought that the 69-year-old was just one potential candidate spoken to in the search for Claudio Ranieri's replacement.
And acting boss Craig Shakespeare could stay in charge until the end of the season if results continue to improve.

MUCH better imo but I really don't think anyone has ever put out such a complete body of work as this.
