Love this thread! Shoutout Reilo for linking it.
Mostly play TTRPGs like D&D 5e, Pathfinder 2e, and other stuff like Alien and the Star Wars RPG. Trying to find some more quirky and two player (one GM, one PC), that my fiancée and I could play together. Folks that made Alien RPG are also doing a Bladerunner one I’ll probably cop.
Looking into board games too. Gloomhaven is hella fascinating.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostLove this thread! Shoutout Reilo for linking it.I made an SRD of sorts for the Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG, if that is the one you are playing: https://sw-eote-srd.vercel.app/

I haven't updated it in a year, though. Some of the rules in it (I think mostly/only the spaceship rules) are from the Genesys rulebook since they are more fun than the ones that come with the actual EotE game.

Descent 3rd Edition seemed like a bunch of busywork with the app no?
I like a companion app sure, Gloomhaven & Lord of the Rings did it perfectly but what I saw of Descent seemed 50 % app gameplay & 50 % actual boardgaming.
Also the price is putting me off a bit at 155 € :/
The scenery, art etc .. all looks great though.

By Lupercal Go To PostDescent 3rd Edition seemed like a bunch of busywork with the app no?Not for us. We spent relatively little time in the app compared to planning out what we were going to do. Most of the time is spent at the very start and very end of missions (going through narrative stuff, setting up the board, buying/selling/crafting in town). During the actual mission, it records damage dealt to monsters, shows the next monster action, records results of our interactions with the board, and displays narratives and environment changes as the situation warrants. We also use it to do range-checking, if we are unsure.

Of course, I am mostly comparing it to the Imperial Assault app, which isn't as streamlined and polished.

By Lupercal Go To PostHmmm, I might need to check it out at the store then in person, maybe they can show me the app.Fwiw, you don't track movements or do rolls in the app. The app does sometimes pick a specific player to attack, if able. But it is a flow chart kind of thing. Like "if Lupercal is in range, attack them. Else, attack nearest healthy player." You still control where they move on the board as the app has no idea.

Greg Stolze is one of the best tabletop writers/designers ever. Highly recommend basically anything and everything he is involved with.

By Lupercal Go To PostOne roll engine are table top rpgs a la DnD or?Yeah. Stolze has some real creative ideas for settings and systems. They can sometimes have a learning curve because of how different they can be, but using them in a game usually resolves an action quickly and comes with a result that is more descriptive than just "you succeed".
He also appears to be a genuinely nice person.

Would highly recommend Chronicles of Crime if you want a great cooperative mystery experience. Have been playing it with the GF and it's been something we really look forward to playing lately.
If anyone knows of any good Star Wars tabletop, let me know. We've been on the lookout.

Imperial Assault is good tactical SW game. Supports 1v4, 1v1, and a total PvE story mode (when using a somewhat clunky app). Good figures, fun battles that are usually tense. May be hard to find now, though.

Oh there is also a rpg called Edge of the Empire, if you want a DnD kind of experience.
I created an srd of sorts with rules but no lore or anything. Also, the ship rules are slightly modified to be more fun for the party: https://sw-eote-srd.vercel.app/

@Phaze
Imperial Assault is a great find, perfect dungeon crawler with a Star Wars theme. The Core box alone will give you plenty of playtime.
Outer Rim is a newer game, play as one of several bounty hunters with up to 4 players. FFA but you can cut some deals if you want.
Rebellion is a more complex strategy game, 1v1 or 1v2, 2v2, think advanced Risk with some 4X elements.

Pledged a complete Ankh Kickstarter long ago, finally made a ticket.
Helpdesk employee tells me my pledge manager bugged and didn't come through..
Now I get my money back -15% of Kickstarter fee, shit sucks.

Damn, man. Kickstarters are like that too often and the site doesn't make any effort to improve things. Instead, they are spending time on block chain and nfts. Ughh

I see some classic favorites like Settlers of Catan, Risk, and Monopoly mentioned, and they are indeed timeless classics. I wanted to share my personal favorites from back in the day: Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, and Betrayal at House on the Hill. These games have provided endless hours of fun and excitement with friends and family. And of course, let's not forget about good ol' Dungeons & Dragons, the OG of RPGs! There's something special about immersing yourself in fantastical adventures with your imagination. Also, check out roll d20 if you want to use a digital dice. If any of you are still around, I'd love to hear if your board game collection has grown or if you've discovered any new gems over the years.
