Since its 1996 debut, the Tomb Raider franchise has evolved from pin-up lad mag material to a thought-provoking series of substance

I've got dependable 5 stars out of all of my rolls EXCEPT the one I started with. Jacob is buns and Leo just can't swing with the real mages. Cain is my other red and he's doing work compared to Leo. Also, still makes no sense how well Minerva works. It feels like she should be constantly dead but she's doing making the grass grow every match.
I picked up 5 star Effie just a while ago and she's already a huge addition. I mean... just give me Lucina or Cordelia. I don't ask for much.
I love the series, but I really wish Yakuza's combat was even half as good as the melee in Sleeping Dogs or Mad Max. It's just tedious. It's not easy. It's not hard. It's tedious. No matter how many 'improvements' they make, it's just the same sparkle on the same janky tedium. Just more animations with the same combat intact. At lower levels, it's full of guys with way too much health, with random armor frames, with random points on when they become unknockable or ungrabbable, and you might say 'git gud' but I never die. Because you can use as much health items as you want and health items are dirt ass cheap.
So it's just the same tedious fight over and over. I think the series might even be better if they just QTEd ALL the cutscenes.

With Halo Wars 2 finished, I'm hoping that Creative Assembly can make a sequel to Alien Isolation. Unless they do Alien again (which would be great, tbh), I want to see their take on Aliens.

By DY_nasty Go To PostYou in for a classic, beef ;_;Yeah I been able to tell that since Velvet gave him a name. Right now my roommates are using him and her, and I'm using Rokuro. I got the white pimp hat and headphones on him looking fresh as fuck, and one of the roommates keeps asking me to switch it up because the headphones clip through the hat lol.
Number 2 got the best fam a little homie could ask for ;_;
We've had to increase the difficulty a couple times because we'd mow through enemies like it wasn't nothing. Then we got back-attacked by a GROUP of monsters so we take everything extra careful now. They have me acting as a chaperone since I've been able to adapt to the battle system (which I'm not feeling as much as Graces, but it's like Graces is a 10 and Berseria is a 9, so no big deal) quicker than they have.

Majima is a total bro for that one.
And then the hype when they see each other wearing their OG costumes. Uncle Nagoshi getting your dick hard for Kiwami
GOAT.
I did finish the game, of course. Story-wise, it's probably my favorite in the series. Definitely the best roster of characters in series history. Even over 2. The only downside is that with each of these releases, it continues to pound into me that I'm sick of Kamurocho and I really dislike the combat system in boss fights. Unfortunately, I don't think they did a good job with other cities in 2, 4, or 5 either. I also found all the new mini-games outside of Club Sunshine completely awful or tedious. Like this is the quickest I've just stopped fucking with the new mini-games before.
I didn't find Kiryu's tale that fascinating despite having some great villains either. I was hoping the prequel setting would help with my Kiryu overexposure that I've been feeling since the end of 3. Majima's whole arc was fantastic though. I wish it was longer. I wish the Kiryu stuff didn't exist and it was an entire campaign fleshing out Majima even if Sotenbori itself underwhelmed me like it usually does. I loved seeing all the characters that molded Majima into the weirdo he is today, like Nishitani, Lee, and Sagawa. I loved his fighting styles.
I don't know if I'm that excited for Kiwami since I already know the story and that's practically the only reason I play these games anymore. It'll never happen but its another entry that I love but continue to wish they'd reboot with a new protagonist, setting and combat engine. The sour note in it all is that I don't think this one can be topped for me with the next 2 being 'Kiryu and more Kiryu. How many times can they drag Kiryu back into the family this time? find out next week on Dragonball Kiryu'

I thought enemies weren't shit then all of a sudden they were dropping coordinated bombs on my ass.

You'll unlock higher difficulty modes as you progress though. I float around hard or higher but its enemy dependent really. Especially because some of the cast are basically gimped until mid-game (Eizen omg).
Just hired two new adventures in PoE. No more traveling alone. I can already see how this game influence Tyranny.

I thought enemies weren't shit then all of a sudden they were dropping coordinated bombs on my ass.Yeah, we unlocked a harder difficulty by doing those hunt requests. We're hovering around Hard right now because some of the surprise monsters that show up during a fight wiped us clean. One time one of them showed up and the 2 little invincible minions it spawns with targeted #2 and him only. So we had the roommate controlling him kite them along while we did our best to slap up the main monster.

The roommates also said that they wanna try out the other Tales games too, since one of them has never played any of them, and Berseria is her first. I warned them about Graces, and they didn't believe me until I showed them the intro song. They said they'd think about it, lol
I'm being 100% serious when I say that I have no clue how I'll be able to go back to Symphonia's battle system. Free movement alone changed the game, but Graces and Berseria left it behind completely.
I'm at the last dungeon and I still can't decide between Graces F and Berseria when it comes to combat. Mainly because when you're fucked in Berseria you are truly fucked. That's maybe my only complaint. In Graces you could be down to your last character, pixel health, and half a meter and still clutch it out. In Berseria you're running for your life, remembering keenly how many times you fucked up to get into that situation and kicking yourself for not saving often.
When you're grooving tho its share mode lol
I know I'll never touch Xillia again though. At the same time, this is a fucking amazing prequel. I don't think I've ever seen a standalone tie-in done better. You don't need any of the knowledge from Zestiria but fuck its cohesive without being dependent at all.

Graces is still better and more polished systemwise because every character has a skill that works into each other.
The way Chain Capacity works lets you chain combos much more efficiently with dodges and cancelling into ougi. Compared to Berseria where you really need to continue to stun to keep your momentum going.
Berseria is good and free movement is nice, but the way combos are linked and chained don't feel "technical" enough in a sense. Velvet's gameplan in combat in particular is very linear compared to Asbel with the routes you map out for your combos.
I feel like Graces take account of your skill more, because like you said even when you're at your last character you can still clutch it out through skill.
You just reuse Graces's system, throw in free movement and 100% custom mappable combos like Berseria and you good.

Bought FFV PC since I needed a game for my shitty laptop and it was on sale and it's like the only FF I haven't played.
It's actually very good and the story isn't as bad as I was expecting? More pervy than I was expecting though. But lots of choices for combat which is good and makes the bosses and some encounters interesting while auto-battle helps a lot for the less interesting encounters. Pretty good. Good music too and good effects in the environments.

I've never been as sceptically excited about a game as I am for Horizon
Even for FFXV I was sure I'd enjoy it a decent amount at least.
Wish I was one of those fanboys who doesn't recognise the idiocy of the stance, and can convince themself that Killzone Shadowfall was a good game
As it is, I'll keep buying Sony exclusive games whether they look good or not. Except The Order. Fuck that.
