I just don't think Dice have any idea how to balance a shooter worth a shit. It's just big sexy maps and have at it. These games should have evolved to have more structure and fun by now but they've had the same issues for years.

Plenty of people find those games fun, just because you don't doesn't mean they're bad or they have issues.

What's unbalanced to you? Snipers? That's pretty much every shooter and with BF open maps you're gonna have some of that.
The big draw of BF is that every match is literally different.

I felt so deflated when I saw they'd added another one.
destiny was ok, didn't play uch of the pvp, got a good a mount of content for a low price but I didn't find anything about it interesting or fun enough to make me play it again. Never been a huge bungie fan.

Taken King pretty much nailed what they were after. The only critique I could level is that they didn't really get the multiplayer balance right until Rise of Iron's patch a month back.

Controls like a dream though, which only serves to frustrate tbh. Certain departments of exceptional work bolted onto a load of shite that sinks the entire thing.

What puts Rise of Iron in the 'complete shit' category for you? It didn't have a ton of content, but the raid was decent, there was some cool gear, good times were had in supremacy, there was a bunch of stuff to like there. And they finally gave us that much needed shotgun nerf. It was clearly a stopgap put together by the b-team, but I had a decent time with it.
First, at launch Destiny was a mess.. and I have learned over time that the whole "Shared world shooter" thing isn't for me..

- Dropping us in old russia again
- Re-skinned enemies advertised as a "new threat"--this happened with the taken king, but it felt fine there because TTK fixed so much of destiny and had so much new content. So despite it being new content nothing really felt new about the expansion but the raid.
- New guns just largely ended up feeling like the same guns we've been shooting since forever except with a new skin. Hell TTK brought in two new weapon types (swords and sidearms)
It was a "I know yall bored" expansion by Bungie's own admission, but to me it felt like I purchased fatigue in game form. Shit killed my interest in Destiny so much that the sequel is really really going to have to look like a new game to get my interest
That IQ bump makes it very tempting to just emulate it instead of buying a Switch
