By s y Go To Postyeah, I wish I could play but I can't justify a Wii U/Switch purchase.I guess. Nintendo consoles have always been worth it for me as a secondary gaming machine (I'm primarily a pc gamer) but everybody's different. I don't get people that would buy a PS4 pro or Scorpio but I'm not gonna harp on it. But if you're a 3d Zelda fan and you're not playing this game... I weep for you.

By Hitch Go To PostIs anyone good doing a 100% completion Let's Play of Zelda without using a guide?id be very impressive considering the hyrule compendium
Got some people on Twitter telling me I "just dont get it" when it comes to the weapons complaint.
By DY_nasty Go To PostShit was fucked, b.I knew something was up when Magilou dropped the comedy completely. Then we did a simultaneous "oh SHIT" when Velvet tasted the pudding.
BOTW is a great game with some unique ideas and a whole lot of flaws that drag the game down badly because of how core they are to the gameplay that you can't overlook them and a ton of technical shortcomings
This thing is the most 8/10 game I've played in some time
This thing is the most 8/10 game I've played in some time
id say 9/10 because it does actually make an open world interesting, but its flaws are just things that leave you scratching your head thinking how this got out of the alpha stage.
By jjasper Go To PostWhen does the open world get interesting? I am like 5 hours in and it is pretty boring so far.even perfection gets boring.
BOTW also fucking murdered any ecstasy or anticipation finding a treasure chest in a Zelda game brings. 'oh boy a chest. with like 5 rupees in it' 'oh boy a chest. with a boomerang in it! that breaks in 3 hits anyways'
By shun Go To Postwow.it's a work, brother
The state of that apartment. Yikes. And yo needs to tone down on the Mt. Dew.
By data Go To Postit's a work, brotherOh it is? Weird. Now I don't feel bad though.
The roommates have a passing interest in playing Graces F if we ever beat Berseria. I'm both looking forward to it and dreading the day it comes.
Symphonia got tossed into the bushes though LOL

By jjasper Go To PostWhen does the open world get interesting? I am like 5 hours in and it is pretty boring so far.Which way did you go after getting off the plateau? If you think botw is boring then you must find all 3d Zelda games boring it's probably the most dense out of all of them outside of SS.
i think botw isnt the greatest game of all time
but its definitely the best zelda game, a collection of everything that has made the series great

I meandered to the tower of the area I landed in climbed it. Did some shrines a side quest and made my way to the village.
mario gonna be like 'you used 3 fireballs. fireball suit broke. you jumped 3 times on yoshi. yoshi broke.'
By data Go To Postmario gonna be like 'you used 3 fireballs. fireball suit broke. you jumped 3 times on yoshi. yoshi broke.'Then Ubisoft is gonna come in with their next open world and game and be like 'pay $3 to repair your weapon'.
Still impressed by how well Horizon controls.
Only thing wrong with it is aim sensitivity in focus mode. Wonder if it'd be frustrating without the concentration slow motion

By DY_nasty Go To PostI love the controls until any verticality becomes involvedYeah took me a bit to stop trying to climb up ledges that aren't supposed to be climbed up while running around during fights
Would like the inevitable sequel to be more free in its traversal, with the obvious addition of flying mounts as well

Is this literally your first Zelda game? It's by far the best at that. Previous entries had text pop-ups like this explaining rupees:
Every.
Single.
Time.
chests didnt need to have a 30 minute animation to open 100 rupees either
botw is the only one that has done it right since Link to the Past

video got me thinking how disappointing no mans sky was smh
landing on planets and messing around was one of my fav things to do in me1 so i'm all for this

Yeah that's absolute bollocks
It's a 6/10 at best
A shooter/driving game with atrocious shooting, driving and movement controls deserves no more. Janky as fuck as well. Very much doubt that stuff changed between beta and now.

Man don't trust that shit.
Just started Torment: Tides of Numenera.
I've only gotten to the entrance of the first town and talked to a few people, but it feels like I spent five hours doing nothing but read a giant wall of text.

By Splatt Go To PostJust started Torment: Tides of Numenera. If it's anything like Planescape: Torment, that will be the majority of the gameplay. It's just the type of games they are. Combat and such is an alternative solution to problems that will sometimes also give you different dialog options.

Is there an option to turn off faces?
I just finished Wolfenstein: The New Order. People like that game, right? I thought it was quite good.
Very keen sense of pacing. It wanted to tell a detailed story with a lot of characters and world building but never fell into extended cutscenes or something like that. Cutscenes would never be more than 10 minutes and even where story was given a lot of focus there would always be some break to chainsaw an officer or find some data. It was neither too long spent on 'downtime' or never ending 'uptime' without any break.
That being said, I didn't think the storyline was amazing. Blazkowicz was always a bit of an enigma, without much to drive him except kill all the nazis. In a way that was congruent with the Wolfenstein franchise but when this game was so story driven it needed something more. Also whilst it was obvious that the story wasn't going to be super realistic, at some points it really did defy disbelief with how things would proceed, Blazkowicz was basically immortal. They could have just redone some scenes.
I liked how the gameplay catered effectively to different styles, with a run and gun, dual wielding approach being pretty viable and fun, but players were still perfectly fine to stop and pop or just use stealth if they wanted. Of course, the stealth itself was pretty awful but it was a nice extra option and useful in the harder difficulties for clearing out the commanders. There were some continual annoyances like having to pick everything up all the time but it rarely detracted from the core gameplay loops.
It was all fairly inventive and never minded about certain mechanics being underutilized as long as there was still lots of variety for the player. Perhaps there is another version of this game where certain things are cut such that others are more tightly controlled but I'm not sure that much could have been changed to make the game better in this regard.
So to summarize I enjoyed it quite a lot. It's certainly not been left behind by developments in the past 3 years and should make a nice bout of nazi killing for anyone disturbed by recent political developments. I did find the 'hard' difficulty setting to be a bit frustrating and would suggest normal for anyone planning to play it though.
