i must be the only one who thinks yookalaylee looks like shit. One of those types of game that people think they miss until they actually play it.
I think people who think Banjo Kazooie is better than Mario 64 are fucking insane and should probably be locked away.
fuck yall nothing like collecting random bullshit* while listening to a podcast or whatever

So glad that Donkey Kong 64 broke me of the habit of trying to 100% every game. I would never finish open world games, if not for the struggle.
By data Go To PostIt's crazy to me that I still can't just buy a nes miniI'll buy one and mail it if you want.
Just popped into a Gamestop after going to the market to see if they had a demo or one in store. They didn't.
But there are only three launch games and no virtual console?! I honestly thought there were at least ten games for some reason. Jesus.

I went to go pick up Zelda. In the mall they have a Nintendo store/kiosk thing, with Switch demos. They let me pick the system up and play with it. It felt...surprisingly kinda cheap? Maybe it's not fair because my current frame of reference is the Vita 1000, aka the Cadillac of handhelds. That thing feels solid and luxurious, the Switch is...kinda plastic-ey and lightweight.
In terms of ergonomics I thought it would be more like the Wii U gamepad, which melts into my hands, but nope. It's just flat all the way around, nothing terribly ergonomic about it save for the size and rounded corners. The triggers are really close together, you'll be using your index finger for both, not really any room to rest both index + middle fingers on them - but that's pretty normal for a handheld. It's not big at all, either easy to handle. The infamous *click* is legit too.
Anyway, there were a bunch of high school kids having what looked like genuine fun with 123 Switch, they were getting right into the gunfighter poses etc. And Snipperclips looked really good on a TV in person.

No, there's definitely more than three. They had Just Dance, Skylanders, and a couple of other things on the shelf. There's a bunch of stuff like Shovel Knight and I am Setsuna on the eShop too.
By Lupercal Go To PostI'll buy one and mail it if you want. Are you in the states?
Nintendo advises that people don’t put the Switch behind a TV, near an aquarium or “within three to four feet of another wireless device, such as a wireless speaker or a wireless access point.” Doing so can disrupt the signal the console sends to its detachable Joy-Con controllers.
But...
By s y Go To PostNo online saves for some reason.Worse, you can't even backup your saves to the SD card.
By Hitch Go To PostBig early game Horizon spoiler:Good to know. Gonna spent my fast travels on it for sure.
Might break my fast travel rule just to regularly visit Rost's grave, apparently there's new dialogue after every main mission
By Adam Blade Go To PostBut…FWIW, I was instructed to tell people the same thing when people had trouble connecting their Wii/3DS/Wii U online wirelessly. Nintendo is basically covering their ass with this.

Digging the system so far, I was a little upset that the joycons are a little to small for me to comfortably play with one in each hand wii style but on the plus side the grip is more comfortable than I thought it would be.
And I haven't had any technical issues with Zelda so far that I can notice and I've probably played for about 12 hours (it's really
fucking good) maybe these issues are so sporadic that they didn't detract from any of the reviewers experiences?

It slows to a crawl when they are in a forest and it starts raining.

I just finished a main mission and went back there and got a new dialogue. The problem with this is that you have to spent 2 fast travels to go there and get back to where you were lol.
Hopefully this fast travel thing is not that rare to find / craft.
Loving the game too.

Imagine what the industry would look like if companies were willing to high-five each other like this.
Quick update everyone:
In case you didn't notice, I renamed this thread to Console Gaming & Hardware and the PC Hardware thread to PC Gaming & Hardware. We get a lot of great discussion about hardware in the other thread but not so much discussion about PC gaming in either this or that one. And likewise, we get a ton of great console gaming and console hardware discussion in here, so we wanted to focus those threads down a bit more.
If anyone is so inclined, feel free to create separate console threads as well, for example a Nintendo Switch thread or a PS4 thread. All of those would be welcome additions.

I mean, you have people discussing pc gaming in this thread(smokey, data, kibner, blackace & more), I don't see the reason for restricting this to console gaming. PC hardware is definitely worthy of it's own thread but this seems off putting.
Further splitting of the community into seperate console threads would just result in more dead threads.

On Wii U I've only seen the big frame drops happen in two areas so far - unfortunately one is at the very beginning (though only during the day) so everyone's going to see it. I'm not sensitive to frame drops, I can play freaking Saturn games, but when they happen in this game they are pretty jarring.
That said, I'll save any rankings for when it's done, but so far all the effusive praise is true, the game is amazing. Nobody except serious weirdos are going to be playing this game and thinking "this would all be awesome except that frame drop 45 minutes ago ruined it." My brother & I sat down & played it for 4 hours straight passing the controller back & forth and figuring things out. They really did rethink the Zelda formula from the ground up, there are even outside the box solutions for accessing gated areas. I'm pretty sure the initial territory is bigger than Twilight Princess by itself, and judging by the map it's one of the smaller ones. This is going to be a journey for sure.
