I'm inclined to think PUBG's problems lie pretty much entirely on the shoulders of Bluehole tbh
There's no way that 100 players, map size and the hardware are responsible for such a shitshow

It's 95% Bluehole. All the consoles have pretty terrible single threaded CPU performance, so that was a decision by Sony/MS.. but not properly multi-threading it is almost all Bluehole (maybe some blame to Unreal Engine but i haven't bothered looking into it much).
By Pennywise Go To PostThey usually got some normal deals around christmas that are better than the US deals, plus those 12 days throughout December.good stuff, I might get some games during the sale depending on what's there
Those 12 deals aren't really that great, but they don't have other good deals on. 2 for 30€ isn't bad, and the other offers are just for ps+ users (they are pretty good though).
By Smokey Go To PostDone buying games yall. Got content for days on my digital shelf and physical shelf. Goal in 2018 is to complete some of this shit (lol)Be honest with yourself you’re not touching anything you own and gonna buy new stuff
I'm retiring from the game . Been real.

Reigns: Her Majesty If you're not familiar with Reigns, the original was released about a year ago on mobile and PC, and essentially asked you to run a kingdom via a Tinder-like interface where every decision was reduced to a swipe left or swipe right. Some people will probably read "Tinder-like interface" and immediately run for the hills but trust me when I say it worked really well and was a fine game. Whilst the original put you in the role of a medieval king, Her Majesty has you play the Queen as the name implies. This being a medieval queen, that obviously has a quite a different flavour in terms of the decision making you are asked for and makes for a fresh experience even if the core gameplay is largely the same. The overarching story is a bit stronger this time round, though the satire is far too on the nose most of the time (Women had it difficult in earlier periods? Colour me shocked!). The biggest problem with the game this time round is that the impacts of your decisions are a lot more obtuse and unclear and you will likely spend a good period of your early playthroughs blundering into deaths. Nonetheless, it remains a good timewaster and anyone who enjoyed Reigns should pick it up. It comes in at £2.79 on the Play store.
Valkyria Chronicles 3 The third game in the series technically never made it outside of Japan, but a passable fan translation was released so it's not too difficult for anyone to give it a go nowadays. Whilst it was only released on the PSP, emulation via PPSSPP is good enough these days that any half decent phone or PC will be able to play it.
Despite being a PSP only title, the game loses very little compared to the original which released on PS3. Gameplay is not harmed and though the beautiful cel-shading is no longer present some intelligent presentation helps avoid that becoming an issue. In fact, i would say that from both a gameplay and presentation standpoint the 3rd game outdoes the original. Gameplay wise is mostly a result of small changes that make the game more strategic, like greater class and weapon options, more interesting map design and more strategic decision making outside of tactical maps. On the other hand, one would probably expect that a sequel would have such improvements.
The real difference comes in the superiority of the story. VC3 is set at the same time as VC1 but follows a 'secret' unit, tasked with doing the dirty work that comes with a war. There is plenty of overlap with the original but it always manages to keep it natural and not forced. The biggest strength of VC3 comes from realistic character motivations and depth to the various antagonists that makes them much more interesting than the cliched psychopaths of VC1. The story is not without issues, namely that it appears to have been written by 2 separate people; one guy in charge of the major story aspects and one guy in charge of adding various bits of anime bullshit. However that bullshit is pretty minor and shouldn't be too tough to ignore. I should also mention that the fan translation isn't the best but I don't think it was too flawed overall.
With VC4 coming, there is no better time to experience what is the best game of the series.
Tactics Ogre: Let us cling together I can't say I've played every strategy RPG ever made, but I have played a lot of them and most of the great ones. Without a doubt, Tactics Ogre is the best of the lot and it isn't even close. In fact this game should easily be within the 10 greatest games ever made. But for a handful of QoL issues, Tactics Ogre continues to shit all over modern video games and it is frankly embarrassing how superior the game manages to be on nearly every aspect.
The gameplay will be familiar to anyone who has played any of the Final Fantasy Tactics series, it is a not atypical isometric strategy RPG with a world map. You move between locations, you fight battles, you do side quests, you improve your units, etc. etc. Gameplay wise the game isn't a massive break from other titles, relying mainly on a refreshing originality in its classes/units/races/etc. alongside generally excellent map design. The main criticism I would have is that classes aren't especially unique, but it is a minor flaw.
The storyline concerns a conflict over the continent of Valeria, which has been beset by war since the death of a unifying king some years earlier. You are part of the Wallister clan, squeezed between the more powerful Galgistani and Bakram, whilst also being manipulated by the foreign invaders from Lodis and Xenobia. Over the course of the game the main character will have to fight to free their people whilst dealing with personal revenge, betrayal, the breaking of family and friendships as well as facing the weight of war. The game is full of choice and consequence, all of it utterly natural and on a par with modern paragons such as the Witcher series; there is no Good/Neutral/Badass here. It's really quite a shame comparing this game to the modern Japanese RPG which has been stripped of any such nuance, even with Matsuno's own titles.
I'm not much for describing music or art, but safe to say it is excellent. Tactics Ogre was re released on the PSP, so as with VC3 there really is no reason not to play it today. I will repeat: This is the best SRPG ever made and one of the best games ever made

By h3ro Go To PostI bought Witcher 3 for Xbox X. I don't know why I did this. That patch making me wish I had a X1X. I have the ps4 version too. Bleh I'd have to do some mental gymnastics to justify another console just for top performing 3rd party games and Cuphead lol.

He plays with Real Madrid.
He quits 20 minutes into the match, being down by 2 goals.

My biggest complaint with most third person shooters is that over the shoulder zoomed in crap. Save that for the single player campaigns.

Day 3: In spite of my earlier cynicism, the game is starting to grow on me. The free-form wandering & real time combat is reminding me of FF XII. It feels a bit like a simpler, lower brow but kind of more fun Dragon Age Inquisition. Also, so many elements are giving me FF VIII flashbacks (JPop + jackets, modern retro aesthetic, drawing magic from spots on the ground), but it's not as boring as that game is.
But I feel wary because everyone says the game lets you down.

I overleveled hardcore in FFXV to the point where nothing scares me. Hit level 40 before the end of chapter 1 and enjoy the game a lot more as nothing scares me. I love leveling up fishing as that's great.
Got two years of PS+ for $80 and realized 2K16's dribbling shits all over Live 18.
I have to beat FFXV, NMS, Live 18, Nioh which I'm about to quit because it's too scary, and WD2. I hate WD2 five minutes into the tutorial mission but I'm all digital this gen so that's a sunk $20.

I played it after the last big patch and it was still bad. I was drving around in one of the land vehicles, got out of it near a building and the building straight up ate me. I then bought the game again on PC earlier this year, and besides it running like shit on a Ryzen 1600/GTX 1080, it'd crash within 5 minutes. I had to refund it because it was literally unplayable.
It's the game I want to love, but it doesn't love me.
How good is Wolfenstein 2? I bought a copy of it for my brother in law for Christmas, since he likes shooters/Destiny and that seemed like a better bet than CoD/Star wars. But I found an affordable set of the Skyrim lore books and he's huge into that game.

At least with CoD/BF, you know you're getting it for the multiplayer ahead of time.

The loop seemed to be mine minerals, upgrade your ship, move to next planet. But they don't give you a compelling reason to do it. The lack of any real multiplayer in that game makes it such a snore.
I feel like I should've trusted my gut on PUBG and not bothered with it. Spent just shy of two hours playing it and it is the most boring online game I've ever played. I swear it's been like playing Conquest on Battlefield with only 24 players, so you spend the majority of match holding sprint down in the direction you'll hope to find some action in.

Learn to play the game, possibly with a buddy or three. It's one of the most engaging online games of all times.
People that compare Sea of Thieves and No Man's Sky are way off, by the way.
During the last play sessions, I was flying solo and sailing towards my next quest objective in my sloop. Another player passes by me in his sloop and on his way away from me, fires a cannonball. My boat takes a direct hit and starts to sink. Luckily, I'm near an island, so I jump out and swim to the shore, evading sharks as my ship goes under. As I'm wandering around this beach, I see a ship anchored offshore, so I head to that because fuck you, I'm a pirate. I sneak on board, raise the anchor, lower the sails, and as I'm taking off, I see this guy running to the beach with a treasure chest in his arms. All he can do is watch from the shore as I sail away in his boat, leaving him stranded pretty far from the nearest harbor.
Emergent things happen all the time in SoT. Having other people around makes it a fundamentally different game, even if you're playing solo.

But what are the objectives? Treasure?
The guy on the bench who's ship you took off on, what are his options with the treasure without a ship?
Where do you have to take treasure to secure and save it?
And what do you do with the treasure?

I know my experience is more or less an outlier, it's just how things have gone for me in the 5 or so rounds I played. Drop out the plane, land in a village or town, spend 10 minutes picking up gear then spend the rest of the round running around looking for something to happen. If I keep playing it, I fear I'll die of boredom before I die in game due to another player.
Playing with friends, then yeah it'd be different, but that's the same for most online games. They're always more fun with people.

By GQman2121 Go To PostBut what are the objectives? Treasure?Right now, they have two different quest types, treasure hunts and another that involves you hunting down a skeleton to assassinate. You do quests to raise your rank with the factions so that they give you more difficult and more involved quests that give you better rewards.

Where do you have to take treasure to secure and save it?
And what do you do with the treasure?
The guy without a ship will have the ability to spawn a new boat back at the outpost, but he won't be able to take the treasure. So he has to bury the treasure, wait a few ticks for the game to give him the option, and then respawn.
You take the treasure back to one of the outposts (the handful of in game towns with NPCs) to sell for gold. With the gold, you'll be able to buy new clothes, gear, and upgrades for your ship and weapons.
