By jjasper Go To PostBeen playing with the PSVR through the Sony 2 week trial. It was pretty neat for the first day or 2 and the X Wing mission is pretty damn awesome but it definitely feels like it needs a few more iterations and a much more powerful system. If the fad lasts long enough I’ll look into it more when PS5 comes out (or if I ever build a pc maybe look into those options then).
pretty much my thoughts--though I haven't tried PSVR.

I agree. I don't trust digital on any console.

Witcher 3 in 4k and HDR? whew
In 4K Mode the game will run in 4K resolution (or supersampled on a non-4K display) with stable 30fps gameplay, whereas Performance Mode enables dynamic resolution scaling (from 1080p up to 4K) while targeting 60 fps during gameplay. Both modes support HDR.
An upgrade patch introducing HDR support will soon be released for the PS4™ Pro console as well.
List of changes for Xbox One X:
2 new graphic modes: 4K Mode and Performance Mode
support for 4K resolution
HDR support
enhanced shadows, ambient occlusion and texture filtering
higher resolutions textures
dynamic resolution scaling (from 1080p to 4K)

I’ve been toying with the idea of buying a Vive. Fallout 4 and LA Noire VR are both piquing my interest.
Room scale, the £600 price and looking like a twat with the headset on is holding me back though.
For whatever reason, I am not a fan of any tech that requires me to "gear up" in order to use it. Having to spend that setup and tear-down time every time I start/stop play will annoy the fuck out of me. Especially if it tethers me to an area and I need to spend that same time to go check on something irl real quick.

I have no experience with VIVE so I couldn't say if it is better or worse but I have an Oculus Rift and I couldn't recommend it enough. It is the most fun I have had gaming in a very long time.
Most of the time you only really need enough room to swing your arms, Its only £369 right now and when you show it too others you get to watch them looking like a twat.
By Smokey Go To PostStill need to try VR. There shouldve been new and improved units out by now tho.
all this hardware obsession by you over the years and you haven't tried VR

Yeah saw that was going for £349 recently too with the touch controllers, but Fallout 4 and LA Noire don’t officially support it do they?
They’re literally the only VR games I’ve seen that have impressed me so far.
By Red Blaster Go To Posti didn't play it this way myself but i know others who have and re7 in vr is a game changerOnly available with PSVR though isn’t it? I’ve heard good things, but I’m a shitbag when it comes to horror games anyway.

I'm actually about to bring back internet cafes with this idea.

I don't think we will see new headsets from Oculus or HTC for a while because current GPUs are not powerful enough to do a worthwhile resolution upgrade.

I haven't tried these two games yet but I have seen some videos of them working on Oculus Rift on youtube. From what I understand every Steam game works natively on Rift because it is an open platform and every Oculus exclusive works on VIVE using software called Revive. You might need a 3rd sensor if you buy a Rift to do full 360 tracking and sometimes you get control issues because VIVE uses a trackpad and Rift uses an analogue stick. Most the time this is not a problem but it is probably worth finding out yourself if this is an issue with those two games or not.
Apparently RE7 VR is a 1 year exclusive on Playstation so it might come out on PC at the end of January.

Current GPU strength is enough with foveated rendering--I don't think Vive or Oculus want to drop a new set without it, because you're not even gonna be competitive with a set that features it. You'll have higher hardware requirements with inferior visuals/fidelity.

i think it's just a year exclusivity on psvr and so next month vr should be available for pc

Speaking of VR:
Magic Leap today revealed a mixed reality headset that it believes reinvents the way people will interact with computers and reality. Unlike the opaque diver’s masks of virtual reality, which replace the real world with a virtual one, Magic Leap’s device, called Lightwear, resembles goggles, which you can see through as if wearing a special pair of glasses. The goggles are tethered to a powerful pocket-sized computer, called the Lightpack, and can inject life-like moving and reactive people, robots, spaceships, anything, into a person’s view of the real world.https://www.rollingstone.com/glixel/features/lightwear-introducing-magic-leaps-mixed-reality-goggles-w514479?ref=producthunt

That's a really cool breakdown. There's a lot of stuff there that I'd noticed but never really thought about in great detail. VF4+5's GOAT training modes really did a good job of going through the open/closed stance stuff, and why it matters in gameplay. But now I'm not sure whether I prefer the way VF or Tekken handle it.
That video also makes me miss the 3D terrain of 3tb. I know a lot of players didn't like it because it messed with reading move heights, but it was cool.

They’re rumoured to be picking up a Brazilian Siege team.
By RobNBanks Go To PostGetting tired of getting spanked by Brazilians in CS so they wanna pick up Brazilians in another gameThey won’t have much look in that case. Brazilian teams haven’t won anything in Siege yet. They’ve got some really good teams/players but always go to shit at the finals.
Still, nice to see some bigger organisations get into Siege. Hopefully spice things up and a bit and save the Pro scene from being dominated by European teams.

Kinda sums up why I never hit it off with 3 fighters. Good find man
It would be cheaper to buy the GT Sport PSVR and Doom. The GT Sport version is 199 plus the 59 for Doom so 259.99 unless you really wanted the limited edition
