By Phoenix RISING Go To PostDudes on consoles used to playing at 30 frames per second. It's normal for them.
In terms of the novelty that is Wii U Hardware or Nintendo Hardware in general, yall laugh because you don't have kids old enough to play video games. having your kid play Mario Kart 8 while you use the TV or something else is beautiful. Or maybe you're playing Smash Brothers when your wife is watching something you have no interest in.
Switch went in the wrong direction. They are catering to Nintendo's bread and butter which is portable enthusiasts. It's the Sega Nomad in the era of PlayStation all over again
Yeah, off TV was an amazing gimmick, I think it just wasn't necessary for enough people to be a big sales driver. Their commitment to local multi is great too - it's all but dead on the other consoles.
By reilo Go To PostLike DY said…I just don't see how re-mapping buttons is a valid complaint. There's plenty of other more important things. Button re-mapping is not a standard in console games.

By Dark PhaZe Go To PostI have PoE. What would you suggest as a class/race for a relative newbie to these sorts of games?
Rogue Archer - Wood Elf archer have a real straightforward build path
Starting starts will be something like this.
MIG: 19
CON: 3
DEX: 19
PER: 16
INT: 18
RES: 3
Get abilities/talents that boost damage, apply dots and debuff your target.
On my next play through I going to build a battle mage.
Problem with switch is that nobody is really going to use that thing mobile. Thing is like 8 inches wide and the battery life sucks. Maybe that flies if their handheld teams were switching over to switch as well, but it seems Nintendo is planning on a 3ds successor.
So switch ends up being Wii u 2 in all but name basically. They haven't expanded their base with this move nor does it do anything to bring in people from the hardcore camp.

By Hitch Go To PostI feel like Nintendo did absolutely fuck all to press home the 'someone watches tv, someone else plays WiiU' thingWhen Jimmy Fallon described it as a controller for the Wii I knew it was in trouble.
The messaging for Switch has been better, but their online, and VC silence is troubling at best, and amateur hour at face value.

Not a huge fan of everything they did.. battery life if criminal
But I am just saying people in Japan will use the Switch mobile...

Weighs less than a pound too. It's something you'd have to put in a bag instead of a pocket but the handheld market has been past that point for a while.
The battery is what it is. I don't see how they could have done much better. I think Nintendo will have to make sure that there are a lot of low end 'mobile' games that you can get 6 hours out of. Nintendo's focus on Indy games should help with this.

Tell em
I'm got some fresh one for y'all coming next week too
By blackace Go To PostSo they said play?I believe their exact words where: Kill your entire family and hand Nintendo $500 on Friday/out of five.
They accidentally put up the Zelda banner image in a review of another game for moment then took it down. Nobody's seen the review.
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postnow if only nintendo could get out another metroid first person shooterthis is why i'm glad companies just don't listen to fans
By DY_nasty Go To PostMetroid has to be one of the most mismanaged IPs ever.
Samus should have a movie by now.
I don't understand it. I know the sales weren't spectacular, but there are companies not even trying and making shooters do millions. Absolutely no reason why it sat out an entire generation.
Only thing wilder than a lack of Samus in a film, in an era where Sci-fi is doing billions, is the lack of a live action Zelda film.

no video game films, just make games
specifically a metroid game. a real one, not that federation force nonsense

Do they have the manpower in house to handle what it would take to maintain what they've already created and then a Metroid game? Maybe there's something in development now?
Zelda is the last game that needs a movie... I love the franchise but the reboot concept is ok in game form I don't need it on the big screen as well..
I would rather see Metroid in 3rd person tho..
I kind of think only Retro can handle a shooter.. so maybe they need a better dev for it?

Zelda never needs a movie.
Samus was probably Nintendo's best bet at breaking its self-created mold though. Could've really been the bridge. Even without a movie or anything... kids want to shoot and not that splatoon nonsense. Metroid, briefly, was for the people.

By data Go To PostI always wanted Insomniac to make a 3rd person Megaman gameYou mean you just wanted Megaman Legends 3 like rest of the free world.
That's what you meant right. Of course you did. Anything else would be absurd.

The problem is Metroid isn't just a shooter it is kind of an RPG too... Nintendo doesn't really have a studio for it.
Eh. There wasn't a major fantasy film for a while. They could have easily slid Zelda in, in LOTR's absence, and made coin. Even up against the recent Hobbit films, I'd put money on them killing the box office, especially internationally.
I'm more saddened about the loss of the Battle Network series, than I ever will about Legends. >.>

I would hope that the collective minds of everyone involved in that hypothetical production, could find a way around that detail. They either stick with it, make him talk, or frame the movie around someone else in Hyrule.
There isn't even a real reason why he can't talk. It's actually dumb, considering that he communicates with everyone without the use of sign language, verbal, or written communication.

I don't think it's that he physically can't talk.
Silent protagonist is just a design decision.
Having him talk in a movie wouldn't contradict any established lore within the narratives of the games, but it'd be a completely different style of story telling than what the games aim for. There's no point in doing something like that imo.
i dont believe nintendo could do metroid justice
we would get New Super Metroid with cutesy graphics, remixes of already existing songs, and a dumbed down experience without techniques like shinespark in order to "reach a new audience"

I mean Retro COULD make another as well..

I feel like in an era when every one-man shop indie dev on kickstarter is putting out a metroidvania, Nintendo could probably find some way to pull it off.
I really think it's because they feel the property is going to take a lot of resources but doesn't sell in Japan. Donkey Kong was way more worth Retro's time. And they probably took all the wrong messages from Other M.
By blackace Go To PostI mean Retro COULD make another as well..By all accounts, they hated working on the Prime series.
Very nice, Shun! How is that lightbox you are using made? It's the first time I've seen one with a black backdrop. Is it the same as a normal one?
