Share with a friend or partner on a train/flight on the go out of the box, play online through LTE anywhere I want with very little data usage, strong, quality games to play for whenever is convenient, and best of all not needing to be tied to a television. Next year I can play Phantasy Star Online 2 anywhere I want too.
Most important of all, being able to use it as a karaoke machine with JoySound is a game changer.
This thing is GOAT.
Having to be tied to a television or monitor when you already have to so long at work is garbage. I want to have fun, I don't want to masturbate to a calculator and pretty wallpaper like Smokey used to. Bench marking got him all fucked up but now he got a kid and a switch and now he chilling,
If I could just do all this shit on my iPhone I would. Most of the shit I play is on smartphones anyway. Throw good software and joy con on it and there is my ideal console/handheld.

Is Terra Battle 1 as difficult as 2 at the start? I'm on chapter 2 and it feels like I missed something important, because I'm taking L after L.
By reilo Go To PostAnd like mentioned before, because they went portable they sacrificed on both sides to make t work. Not that great of a portable device, not that great (okay terrible) of a home console.
Really though for Nintendo games the power doesn't mean much. Just cripples AAA third party content
I don't want to be tied to a monitor all day
I must have a screen in front of me at all times
Nintendo fans, man

Congrats on your purchase, Smouki. May your blacks be deep and your colours bright, and may you be spared image retention. RIP

Just picked up Red Dead zombies for $9. Love RDR but never bought the DLC at the time for some reason. Going check that out after I'm done with Pure.
Found the DLC underwhelming as fuck after all the glowing praise for it unfortunately
Just bought Xcom 2 on PS4 for £14 through ShopTo on ebay, next cheapest is like £20
If it runs unacceptably to me, I at least won't have spent too much on it. If it runs well enough I'm not sure whether to buy War of The Chosen though, or wait for it to drop in price. £35 is a lot for an expansion, as good as it seems

Thinking of going straight in Legendary Ironman
Only ever played Normal save-scumming in Enemy Unknown, and it takes something away really. Just gonna have to get over the hump of accepting that stuff will go badly wrong and I'll spend some hours limping along with a doomed game while I learn
Ironman makes me worry about game-breaking glitches though

i get that technology is improving and there are now 8k TVs but I'm fine with my entertainment looking like highly compressed jpg
the problem with ironman is everytime i've taken a huge loss (team wipe, something close) it's basically set me back so much i feel like im fucked

I've watched a fair amount of it and have nothing else that I'm desperate to play, so can live with lost progress. Whenever I've played Xcom before I've wanted to get through the entire thing so I could move onto a different game, not the case this time
Might semi-bottle it and play with the ability to save-scum, then start a new campaign on Ironman when I've learned the ropes. Do the console versions have the character pools?
Unless they've fucked the controller support, I'm not really bothered
My pc is of an age where it'll presumably look and run roughly equivalent to the PS4 version, I will always prefer controller to kb+m*, never cared about mods
Wish Sony would make an official DS4 driver, last time I tried using it with the pc it was too much of a pain in the arse just to get it working terribly
I've not got the patience to be a legit top boi
*obviously doesn't apply to things like mobas and RTS

By reilo Go To PostIt’s compatible out of the box on Windows so in theory it should.Steam lets you configure the DS4 like it's a Steam Controller. You get a lot more control out of it than just custom mappings.

Yay, just got so much hardware in today. Ordered these things across different days, weeks, and months (if you count kickstarter) ago:
- Kinesis Freestyle Edge 1st edition keyboard
- SCUF Impact PS4 controller
- Card sleeves for my Descent board game
- Smart power strip
- Emotiva ET-3 Trigger Expansion Module
Got the power strip and the trigger expansion setup so that my speaker amp now turns on/off when my tv does instead of just when it detects a strong enough audio signal. The auto detect on the amp wasn't sensitive enough and would shut off at low volumes automatically when I didn't want it to. :(

I've pretty much saved Horizon and (tried) to save UC4 for when I got a 4k TV. Which one should I try first? Thinking Horizon. Start over and see what it's talmbout

It ain't even cool.
By Smokey Go To PostPicsFine, but I already installed everything:
On the far left is my stereo amp, the Emotiva BasX A-100. In the middle on top is a miniDSP DDRC-24, which is just their 2x4 HD with the Dirac audio correction software license. Underneath that is the One Connect box that came with the KS8000 tv and handles all the inputs and outputs. On the far right is the Emotiva ET-3 Trigger Expansion Module. Forgive the wires. I have too many of them and not the skills to organize them better than that. =\
This is a TrickleStar Advanced PowerStrip. I plug my TV into the "control" slot and the trigger module into one of the "switched" slots so that my TV controls whether the trigger expansion is on which controls whether the amp turns on. This is supposed to be better for the amp than having it hard power off/on every time the TV does.
Original PS4 Pro controller, a SCUF Infinity 4PS PRO with a mangled left stick cover that I'm about to send in for repairs (trigger stops are too loose and paint on face buttons is fading), and then a SCUF Impact on the bottom.
Last, but not least, the Freestyle Edge keyboard.

By DY_nasty Go To PostSchool me on scuf. Is it worth it?I like the way the Impact feels in my hands much more than the stock PS4 controller. The trigger stops and adjustable sensitivity can be useful for weapons where you need to tap fire. The paddles are nice when you want to jump/reload/duck while still aiming. You can also have them remove rumble for a lighter controller, if you would like.
Everything else it does can be accomplished with custom skins/wraps and third party sticks or stick grips. Up to you if that and some nice paint jobs is worth ~$180.

I run "jumper" settings on most of my shooters so the extra input options are worth looking into.
