By Hitch Go To PostIt looks incredible tbf
Solid 30 is acceptable in most games unless you're a knobend
I had to Google what that meant.
I don't spend what Smokey does, but if my frames even PRETEND like they're about to drop under 60, I'm upgrading.
Shit, even installs on new consoles annoy me. Should be just plug and play. I got a PC for that.

*Bethesda being the exception obviously.

Installs take forever on consoles.... shit is sad. It is bad enough that the network is slow as shit when you buy digital..

My console is basically sports and exclusives.. everything else I buy on PC.. Games like Madden, NBA 2K, and the Show take forever to install..
By blackace Go To PostInstalls take forever on consoles…. shit is sad. It is bad enough that the network is slow as shit when you buy digital..We can argue about downloads and especially patches that are a pain in the ass, but the majority of games is installing pretty fast on the PS4.
GTA takes longer and nearly every Bethesda game, but apart from that I haven't really found anything that takes longer than those 20 - 40 seconds.
Never played Madden or NBA.
Download/install is the same thing these days. Thanks battle.net and Steam.
I am interested in what this looks like with the Switch going back to cartridges.

I'm so lucky I can't tell the difference between 60 and 30 fps and unless its Bayonetta on 360 bad I don't notice frame drops either.

In the CRT days, I could tell the difference between 60, 75, and 85. Of course, it may have also been because of the refresh rate of monitors, too, since 75hz was when the flashes stopped making my eyes and head hurt.
By Xpike Go To Postnioh offering 60fps mode is something everyone should copyYup.
40 hours into horizon, don't think I'm near finished(i've been running around doing other shit)
also, this story is surprisingly interesting!

By blackace Go To PostI don't understand how Zelda looks better than Horizon at this point..It doesn't look better... But it seems like it will be more fun to play. Horizons next on my list though.
By DY_nasty Go To PostBecause its called ZeldaYeah people can't have different tastes, gotta be a conspiracy.
duh
Both look great! probably won't get to play Zelda until the Switch's price drops though.
Although, looking at how great Zelda's art direction is has me very disappointed in the Switch's hardware when I think how much better it could look if those grass fields had shadows and more efffects.

Yeah people can't have different tastes, gotta be a conspiracy.
From a tech standpoint Zelda would look better if it was designed from the ground up on Switch, the systems quite a bit more powerful than the Wii u.
honestly after seeing the prices for the canadian eshop (which i must use since international and all that jiz), think ima just buy horizon right now and wait for a switch to play zelda

Because they are kind of the same game... maybe Zelda controls better? I know that Horizon looks way better than it should
By masud Go To PostFrom a tech standpoint Zelda would look better if it was designed from the ground up on Switch, the systems quite a bit more powerful than the Wii u.I keep forgetting that it's on the wii u. If it looked like that E3 2014 trailer(that nintendo swore was actual gameplay) then that would be amazing.
By DY_nasty Go To PostJust being honest. Zelda is more teflon than pokemon. How do you figure? You have people like yourself trying to convince gamers that the media is lieing to them about the quality of a game you've never played. For every Zelda fanboy who overrates the series you have other gamers who won't give them the time of day because of console racism.

Being critical of a Zelda title is legit asking for death threats.
By blackace Go To Postpeople can have all the taste they want… but just saying it looks more fun to play is a little baffling to me…How much Zelda media have you seen? I don't know how you could say they're the same game. Breath of the wild is a systems heavy physics playground that can be completed in any order while Horizon seems more narritve driven and "scripted". Zeldas combat is also primarily melee while Horizon looks like more of a shooter. Horizon looks phenomenal, like I said it's the next game I'm buying after Zelda but besides both being open world I don't see the similarities.

By DY_nasty Go To PostI'm not trying to "convince" anyone. Being critical of a Zelda title is legit asking for death threats.Hey you make dope games for 30 years and you're gonna attract some ride or die types. I just don't like the implication that I'm lieing to myself about the quality of the games I like to play because of brand loyalty.
Well,I can say is that in my 40 hours there hasn't been like a single set piece or a moment where control is taken away from the player(no auto slow walk scenes either) or scripted event in horizon, you can approach combat how you want pretty much. setup traps, observe robo routes, go straight action, stealthy etc.

Sure Zelda is a good game.. but I am pretty sure reviewers can't give it under a B+ / 85% even if they want to..
Most likely the same for Horizon too... but Sony isn't as gangsta with their first party games (at least they weren't in the PS2 days)
By blackace Go To PostThe media doesn't "lie" but they do pad scores… know that for a factYeah but why would they be doing this for Nintendo? A company that's pretty much irrelevant to large swaths of the market? A company who I'm sure gives zero fucks about the scores it receives from the enthusiast press in America?

The things you are "sure" about are fairly wrong... Nintendo is very hands on with the media... always have been. If you want to get review shit from them you play ball..
By blackace Go To PostThe things you are "sure" about are fairly wrong… Nintendo is very hands on with the media… always have been. If you want to get review shit from them you play ball..Can you give me an example? Cause the gaming media trashes Nintendo all the time (usually with good reason) and I haven't heard of any fallout. I also don't see how Nintendo would have any leverage to strong arm reviewers considering their market share.
By masud Go To PostYeah but why would they be doing this for Nintendo? A company that's pretty much irrelevant to large swaths of the market? A company who I'm sure gives zero fucks about the scores it receives from the enthusiast press in America? Now you're just playing lol
The media only really trashes the Nintendo shortages that really only helps power their pre-orders.. Main stream media is always very Nintendo friendly. I can only tell you about from when I was writing LONG ago during the Gamecube launch.. Maybe now the media laughs in their face and Zelda is a 95%+ game..
I mean...has there actually been a console Zelda game that would warrant something like a 75% or whatever people claim to be low? I can't think of a single one. Even with Skyward Sword's issues, it's still better than the vast majority of open world games that I've played.
It's kind of hard to see conspiracy with this particular series, when it's easily the one that spends the most time in the oven. You want to see a nintendo series that gets a pass? Paper Mario after Miyamoto decided to trash everything that made that series amazing. Apparently, Star Fox wasn't that great either. Mario Party fell off too.

I'm saying you can't even get critical. Great games get picked apart all the time. Zelda? Naw fam, not worth it.
tbf Gamespot did give Skyward Sword a 7.5
But Edge gave it a 10/10 so *shrug*
Then again, the only reason Giant Bomb exists is because of a 8.8 rating by Gerstmann. So if you want an example masud, read upon that if you don't know the story.

All Nintendo 1st party get more love than they deserve a lot of times. But Skyward Sword would have only have a hardcore following if you took Zelda out of the title.. the game wasn't that good... Was it terrible? No it wasn't and it was fun...
But anyone claiming that Nintendo is an underdog in the market, all while being worth more than Sony at this point and doesn't punk reviewers for their 88% is really fanning too hard to me..
My original point wasn't even about review scores, I could care less about those and whether or not they're being manipulated by the Nintendo mafia. I just said that to me Zelda looks more fun to play than Horizon and got mad when people tried to imply that this was only because of some hidden bias. It's fine if you don't like something that I like just don't try to tell me why I actually like it.
