By Laboured Go To PostGoing to start XCOM 2: War of the Chosen tonight. Pretty excited.
mashallah lad. I've only had the lad Dean in my current squad and he's been an absolute madman. 111 kills in 22 missions. Disgusting.

Seem to remember Dean went full beast mode on my vanilla Xcom 2 game. There's something about that boy.

He went beast mode in my vanilla runs, too. Always got the Ranger class, no matter what. Xcom knows.
DS3 is really good. Noting as cool as the crowfeather set though.. More difficult. Makes me realize how OP the parry system in BB is.
xcom expansion doesn't add a new campaign but just a bunch of extra shit on top of the existing one?

yes. It's nowhere near worth the asking price, so grab it cheaper if you can find it, like i did.
Week of launch and Observer has sub 2000 viewers on Twitch
i'm sure it was worth giving streamers access early

I got mine from 2game with their GAMESCOM voucher code. Ended up paying £22 raheems instead of the bullshit more than full price rrp of £35
Making my way through this Destiny Story & Lore video
I'm about 25 minutes in. All of this is interesting, but...did Bungie make you use the cards to get all of this because I don't recall much of it when I was playing it.
The guy narrating video is good.

Most of the meat and interesting bits were in the grimoire. I never read it myself but plenty of people said Destiny has a story, it's just poorly told in the game. High hopes that D2 fixes this.
I'd heard that the Halo story was very messily presented, but it seemed okay from reading the plot summaries on Wikipedia
I wasn't prepared for Destiny

Whelp, looks like I'm addicted to XCOM 2 again. Sadly none of my character pool was saved so I'll have to start from scratch.

I watched his whole video. The majority of it was events that transpired before your Guardian was awoken by his Ghost. Lots of interesting stuff and he said he purposely didn't deep dive into other lore elements, and this was the basics. If he had to get all of that information from the Grimoire cards vs story telling, I imagine 98% of Destiny players have no idea what is going on.
There's flat out scenes with nameless characters in D1 that come and save your ass during a cutscene and you got no idea who they are or why they're helping you and you don't see them ever again lol
I think Gigantic would be more fun if it was a PVE game instead of PVP
because those designs are great but their abilities really dont feel fun when they're hitting other players

It adds a new campaign within the core and a tons of new misson types, assets and gameplay. To me it was worth the price... if you can get it cheaper that's bonus.
So far it's a better expansion than Enemy Within with way more content as well as intergrated better...

I think I'm officially at the point that playing anything on my consoles feels slow and annoying compared to playing on my PC. I just like having everything on my desk instead of having to switch to other stuff.

Is the Everybody's Golf soundtrack public domain?
Because MAN does it sound like some infomercial music

mynameisbyf did a great job on the lore vids
some of the stuff is actually legit awesome, but of course - not in the game for the most part. when they got it right in destiny, they fucking nailed it though. the final 'boss' in rise of iron to 'finding' that warlock in the vault of glass.
also, variks forever.

e: supposedly it is off by default because they can't guarantee every game will work correctly

He actually plays a lot of different champions. Last night was my first time watching him and he was asking chat which champions to showcase. He would pick them and use them several duels in a row.

Looking forward to Samus Returns on the 15th. Bit pissed off that the special edition sold out in the UK straight away. I am not usually one to go for these things but I wanted that soundtrack CD.
I am also looking forward to this VR game out on the same day.

why couldn't Samus Returns just have been sprites?!? Those graphics look so bad. It will still probably be pretty great though.
Everybody's Golf is pretty damn good.
Really wish there was an option to make the other golfers invisible in tournament play though. I find it extremely distracting to be teeing off along with 3 people right around me.

Sorry for the late write-up. Due to emergency work crisis, I did not do any video recording or get pictures of all the cool looking case mods.
QuakeCon was smaller than normal this year. The location they have traditionally used is closed for renovations (the Hilton Anatole is adding a water park and closed down much of the convention areas) so this one was thrown together at the last minute. The result was almost no panels (and none I was interested in), fewer vendors, and generally less space than normal. The guys who paid out for QuakeCon Done Quick badges particularly felt shafted as it didn't provide any benefits this year.
Now, on to the good stuff! The LAN was still massive. 3,500 computer gaming nerds playing random shit all day and night. In just the area immediately around me, we had Rocket League, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch, World of Warcraft, Battlefield 1, PUBG, Quake Champions, ARK, CS:GO, TF2, and a handful of indie games that I didn't recognize.
There was also a row or two of machines that were provided for convention attendees that didn't have BYOC passes to play some pre-installed iD/Bethesda games.
One cool thing they added a few years ago was having content servers on-site. This means that when you purchase a game off Steam (and maybe Origin?), you download it from a server that is on the same LAN as opposed to going out to the internet to grab it. This has helped keep the internet up and running so people can actually patch and play their games.
Unless the ISP and back-up ISP connections the convention center uses both malfunction. And then no one has internet for like 12-16 hours while things get sorted out. Whoops! When the internet was working, though, people were able to play games at low pings even while a sizable portion of attendees had Twitch running.
Many of them, like myself, were watching parts of the Quake Champions Championship. There were 1v1, TDM, and Sacrifice (mixture of CTF and KotH) tournaments for a total of $1M in winnings. I watched the last two rounds of the 1v1 duels and just had to keep shaking my head at how good some of these people are. Oh, and here is the main stage where people could watch live, if they wanted to:
And the medals for the winners:
Some pictures of the different vendors:
Indie game:
Pet Adoption group:
There was also a small tabletop section in an upstairs section. They had a library that you could use to check-out games for free and return after you are done, a whole bunch of open tables, vendors running demos, and even a small store. I bought Resistance (same thing as Avalon, for those familiar with the game) and Kill Doctor Lucky, which is like an inverse Clue.
On the last full day, they were going to run some DOOM boardgame demos. I was part of the first group that day, so I got a free hat from Filthy Casuals and an orange cup. I ended up buying the boardgame after I got home for $20 cheaper and am commissioning a friend to paint all the figures for me.
There was also some cosplay (and even a cosplay competition) but I missed out on all of it. When I saw some just walking through, it was usually on my way out to meet with friends.
Speaking of, much of my time was spent going out and eating with friends of mine that I only get to see this event. One of the guys who lives nearby brought his new wife with him and they hung out with us a bit. She wants to come next year with her own machine. A different guy (from Florida, this time) said his wife is getting into gaming (though, mostly ARK) and expressed interest in attending next year, too.
I also got to meet up with a former member of the wind ensemble I'm part (and now run the Baton Rouge "branch") of since she lived just 10 minutes away from the Gaylord Texan where the convention was held. Speaking of, that place is huge and is expanding even more! It's ridiculous.
Note: this "outside" is really inside an AC-cooled area that just happens to have glass ceiling.
It was very bright inside and I had to squint my eyes >_>
Supposedly, QuakeCon is going to be at the Gaylord again next year and is supposed to have the entire convention center as opposed to just half of that we had to split with Stryker Medical and Mary Kay this year.
Bonus image of my setup with my machine and stuff missing as well as pics of a couple meals I had on the trip:
e: rehosted images and found two or three that i forgot to upload originally
