I'll accept that the hit detection in the original arcade Strider was iffy, but the art & atmosphere still stand up. The NES game and Strider 2 - the PS1 one, not the shitty US Gold one - are amazing. The recent metroidvania revamp is pretty lifeless though.

I bought this game back in the day riding that Final Fantasy VII "I love JRPGs" high and it's fucking trash. Annoying, tedious combat, with an absurdly high random encounter rate, coupled with one of the worst translations of the era. Abominable.

Chrono Cross is a bad sequel to Chrono Trigger, but I really like it. That soundtrack is untouchable.

That soundtrack was great, and the timing-based combat system was really enjoyable compared to most rpgs of the time. I got it in a bargain bin and liked it way more than I expected to.

I've been trying to finish Chrono Cross for years...I kind of don't get why people go over the moon for it. There's a nice soundtrack? I got stuck in a certain dungeon with everybody dead but Magus and he only does like 2 points of damage so my options are to restart, or hope the RNG lets me run away from everything until I get out. It's pretty low on the pile of shame list at this point tbh.

Seriously though, I can see a lot of it not ageing super well, but Shenmue II on the DC was one of the best experiences I've ever had with a game. That fakeout triple ending was incredible. The environments were like nothing else. It really felt like I was travelling to someplace else.

Shenmue was before its time. A lot of the stuff yall say is bad about the game, you tolerate the mechanics of in some other game that you do actually like.

Like someone else said, I'm glad we'll just get to see the end, regardless of jank. If HL3 ever comes out, I can retire from video games.

For as much as I like horror, I thought I would enjoy Bloodborne's story/premise a lot more. As it stands now, I think Dark Souls 2 was a bit more effective in drawing me into the world. This game could use some more exposition from npcs, instead of these cryptic 2 sentence elevator pitches they give to fill in the void. I doubt I'm anywhere near the midpoint, so maybe it gets better. I just got kidnapped by some fuckboi with a dirty burlap sack.

Is there a respec option in the game?

There were no lesbians on the first one and that was a pretty good game that did some interesting things at the time, specially their kind of cel shaded look.
