My 8 year old nephew is really into Sonic and his irresponsible "I was a Genesis kid so it's okay" father is doing nothing to stop it. Now he watches emo AMVs about video games on youtube. The poor kid's probably already on a watch list, he never had a chance.
what are yall playing fortnite on?
i only want to play it if i got people to play with and not randos

if i have a complaint about fortnite, its that they hold your hand forever on the gameplay and hit you with every menu that you've ever dreamed of in the meantime
Played some Elders Scrolls : Legends.
Pretty good, range of possible strategies seems pretty large.
Effects look clean aswell, f2p aspect is very generous.
Might put more time into this.

Smokey or anyone else that plays PUBG, did that vaulting update come out already? Space was kinda tight so I put my PC away for a bit but this console life ain't for me so I set my PC back up. Been like a month or two since I last played it

Fought a 4 hour+ boss fight (issa trial boss, so I didn't need to do it now) in Brave Exvius. Christ. I should have waited until I got better units/gear, but my setup wouldn't let me die. I feel like I can beat any and all jrpgs now.
Ended up missing a mission requirement, due to using magic, but fuck that. I'll do it again in the future, when I can one shot the different parts.
The writing for the game was pretty weak, in the beginning. Now though? If it had an actual budget and a console release, it would rank decently in the series (I think). I'm engaged with the story.
The Nier units are coming soon. Hopefully, I still have some luck and pull 2B.

I think my only complaint with that, at least at where I'm at now (Power Level 13) vthe game feels too easy. Needs more enemies or at least more aggressive enemies.
Throw some more of the propane dudes on the field, let us get shook about our forts getting knocked out.

like i was saying, i got drawn into a match (i used the "help another commander" thing on the map) and got drawn into a level 30 something game. bruh it was RAW out there. none of that roll around solo looking for treasure shit. get caught lacking in the open if you want to....
we ran around for 10-20 minutes cheek to cheek trying to find the objective, and when we did it was in the side of hill in such a way that we couldn't wall up like normal. one side would be exposed for about 3 tiles (excluding a roof of course), so there's this huge tunnel essentially running straight to the atlas
so i'm like, fuck it. i can't help outside of team shooting and my rocket launcher so i'm gonna rack up on bluegoo to provide buffs when i can. this other guy.... dude runs across the map to this building we'd cleared prior then builds a 5 floor sniper perch. didn't even know what he was doing was possible until he'd finished. then the defend phase starts and we're getting hammered by fucking goku zombies and flying motherfuckers and this giant son of a bitch that didn't even look like it belonged in the game lol
we got wiped hardbody but dude was doing work in that tower. wish i could've seen his equipment setup. legit covered a whole quadrant of the map solo while we got taken to suplex city
probably
but its fun for the time being, and its lets me get loot while killing stuff and exploring. if it gets me to destiny 2 then its a win. also its gonna be free anyways

FUCKING postal service fucked up my Splatoon delivery so I probably won't be getting it until Monday.
Fucked up my whole weekend.
At least Amazon gave me a full refund and $5 credit so I'll live with it.
But fuck I'd rather have it now than have it free.

:wow:
The defense scenarios are always great when the Atlas is located on the edges of cliffs or on surfaces with weird elevation because the zombies WILL start to outsmart you and take like little alleyway cuts to hit your shit from the back. They're smart to adapt when they're getting funneled into death halls so you always gotta put up cover walls if you're not about that life.
I think the Radar Tower guides are the best because it teaches you just what kind of shapes you can put walls and floors/ceilings. Both strategically and aesthetically.
Splatoon 2 is pretty fun. Don't know what the longevity of it'll be like for me since I played so much Splatoon 1 and its just that again. Even moreso than a new Call of Duty is just Call of Duty again
makes me wish theyd put the universe in a more fleshed out story mode or co-op mode or something. salmon run and the stages just feel very limited.

Yeah but that's the whole point. It's so insanely long that you feel legendary when you finally clear it.
By livefromkyoto Go To PostYeah but that's the whole point. It's so insanely long that you feel legendary when you finally clear it.ahh so thats the reasoning for Final Fantasy 15
And FF XII has now been beaten. There is still a ton more to do (hunts, espers, 100 floor trial mode, strong mode, weak mode, etc.) but the main story has been beaten. I liked the remaster a lot. Music was fantastic and turbo-mode was a much needed necessity. The Zodiac system forced you to pick classes, which kind of sucked at first. Not sure how I feel about it as I played the original so many years ago and never beat the game.
Would recommend.

Seriously, though, music is great. Atmosphere of the game is great. Aesthetics in general are terrific. Gameplay is aight (I love gambits to play lazily) but not much depth. Story is more believable than most JRPGs but doesn't hit the emotions hard like Berseria did.
Beat Pokemon Platinum. I forgot how fucking savage Cynthia was as the final boss. Got multiple Pokemon creeping past 60 while the E4 is barely at 55. Gonna get started on White 2 since I legit forgot I got it when I worked at Nintendo. Only cracked it open yesterday for the first time.
Also Awesomenauts is still fun, but it's a MOBA so I still end up hating myself afterwards.

I've been playing a lot of Android games of late. I don't know if anyone gives a shit about such things, but here are some reviews for you if you do. Ratings are scored 1 - 7 in a Likert-esque scale. Reviews are in descending order of rating
Retroarch, PPSSPP, Drastic, etc. - 7
I feel like this should be pretty obvious, but in case you are unaware: by far and aware the best gaming you can get on a mobile phone is via emulators. Even 3 or 4 year old phones should be able to handle everything up to the Gen 6 handhelds (PSP, DS) at this point and the emulators available are all generally of good quality - in fact the DS emulator listed above is actually so much faster than the PC DS emulator that you are better off running an Android emulator and then Drastic when emulating on a PC.
Naturally there are some issues, number 1 of which are controls. For RPGs, puzzle games, strategy, really anything that doesn't need precise or timed inputs it works just fine but don't expect to play old platformers or action games without an Android controller. In addition, more and more old classics have been released for Android so for something like the final Fantasy series you might as well just buy those.
Reigns https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devolver.reigns&hl=en_GB - 7
Reigns is one of those games that really makes use of the platforms strengths. The gameplay is essentially Tinderized; you swipe left or right to advance the game. Reigns puts you as the ruler of a kingdom, faced with a constant series of yes/no decisions to manage your kingdom and keep your head. You manage 4 bars - Religion, Peasantry, Military and Finance - and need to keep each one from running out or filling up in order to remain in power for as long as possible. If you fail or die of another cause, then you'll take control as the next in line to the throne, and so on and so on in a basically unending line. The game does actually explain this as part of the overarching story, which is nice, but you can equally ignore that and just enjoy the game in short bursts.
Reigns costs money to buy, and as such is free of microtransaction bullshit or ads. The game has also been released for PC but as mentioned is actually better on a phone.
Monument Valley https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ustwo.monumentvalley&hl=en_GB - 7
Chances are you're already familiar with this delightful puzzler. Even were it on PC, this is a game that would still stand out for it's stunning artistic style and clever puzzle system. The gameplay itself is really quite a simple affair; rotate the map in order to allow your character a path to the ending, Escher style. It doesn't really need much more than that when everything around it is of such high quality. There is a story as well, but it is subtle and just serves to string together the levels, more than anything. Nonetheless, it fits in well with the rest of the games aesthetic.
Unlike most of the other games in this list, Monument Valley has no endless modes or much replayability, and is quite short so might not be what everyone is looking for from a phone game. the sequel just released last month but it's iOS only for now.
Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.konami.duellinks&hl=en_GB - 6
Of the big franchise gacha style games I've played, this is by far the best of the bunch. I'm gonna assume everyone has a basic understanding of the franchise and skip that; Duel links itself presents a slightly stripped down version of the card game. Various extra play strategies, such as Synchro fusions, are not available (yet...) and the game format is known as 'speed duels' to allow quick bursts of play. In addition, only a limited number of cards were available at first, though again that's expanding rapidly. For prior fans of the game it might sound a negative to have such a stripped down format but unlike other gacha titles it really works in the games favour. Endless complications, ridiculous cards and strategies are gone. Forgotten cards and playstyles are viable and the cost of entry is considerably lower than the actual card game. A common refrain from players is that Duel Links feels like playing the game as kids again, before it grew out of control.
Regarding the app itself, the 'single player' involves standard duelists - AI randos with pre built decks that change as you level up - legendary duelists - characters from the show, again with decks varying by level - as well as set challenges and a fuckton of events. I should stress that last point, because it is very impressive how much Konami supports the title with streams of free content. The duels are fully voiced with all the castmembers of the show, with nice graphics and even cutscenes for certain cards.
On the monetization aspect, the game generally does it perfectly. Just regular play will get you a ton of cards. Yes, at the top end of competitive whales will outcompete but if you don't care about that you'll have no troubles with not spending money. The game never pushes you to spend or advertises at you either. Even if you don't care much for yugioh, give this a go
X-com Enemy Unknown and This War of Mine - 6
I'm putting these together for a simple reason. Both are excellent games but really there is no reason not to play these on PC. The mobile ports are very good, if you want a portable version of either - yes X-Com is not stripped down or missing things from the PC version - but if you want a unique mobile experience there are other titles to pick.
Attack the Light https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.turner.stevenrpg&hl=en_GB - 6
A Steven universe RPG. don't worry if you know nothing about the show, you really don't need to to enjoy this very solid Mario-RPG style game. The core battle system is a great implementation of that style, with a good 6 hours of dungeon crawling to get through. Graphics are nice, music is nice, and at a solid price.
Hoplite https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magmafortress.hoplite&hl=en_GB - 6
Just sneaking a 6 is this turn based roguelike title. It's "free with option to purchase full title" that is probably the best way to monetize on mobile, giving you a chance to demo but avoiding irritating microtransactions. There's no story and presentation is stripped back, which may put some off. Each level is a Hexagon with stairs to reach, a couple of enemies and a shrine to receive power ups. There are only a couple of actions you can take - an attack, a leap, a spear throw, a shield bash - but it all combines together very well to make a nice challenge to pass through the levels. It's a perfect format for a short mobile play. You've got nothing to lose by downloading this and trying it out
Polytopia https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.midjiwan.polytopia&hl=en_GB - 5
A.k.a. Mobile Civilization. A lovely artstyle, but just a bit lacking in complexity to really scratch a Civ itch; you'll probably only get a couple of games out of it before you've done everything there is to do. The title is free, with very simple microtransactions to buy additional civs, so very simple to try and no pressure to buy anything if you don't like it. Apparently the devs are continually updating the game so hopefully more features will be added in future to make it worth revisiting.
Eternium https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.makingfun.mageandminions&hl=en_GB - 5
Apparently some consider this the best RPG on Android, and in a lot of ways it is very impressive. It's a Diablo like, with graphics that are really quite good for mobile and the combat is perfectly done for touch. Also just a load of content, for free, with pretty easy microtransactions and little pressure to spend or watch ads. There are timers for stuff, though it seems you can mostly get through them with free gems. Still, I just don't enjoy Diablo games very much, I guess? I suppose if you do feel free to add a point to the score.
Zombie Gunship Survival https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flaregames.zgs&hl=en_GB - 5
A game with the word "Zombie" in the title, whose gameplay is entierly just a gimmick from Cod, with microtransactions and ads, getting a 5? Yes, this actually is worth playing despite those giant fucking red flags. Mostly this is once again down to the easygoing microtransactions, which can largely be avoided with free gifts and don't pressure you to spend or watch ads. In addition, the gameplay benefits a lot from a healthy dose of strategy including a neat base building component. And at it's core it's just fun to blast zombie hordes with giant rockets.
Castle Battles https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lightarc.castle&hl=en_GB - 4
I wanted to like this game. RTS's are my favourite, now forgotten genre, and the story takes an irreverent, sarcastic tone as opposed to dour seriousness. Unfortunately the section of game that i played (the game having the "free with option to purchase" model) was a) just a bit too simplistic to hold long term interest and b) howlingly unfunny. Imagine a storyline written by 9gag and you'll get a good idea of what the 'comedy' they try to push. It might be that things get better in the paid sections but I won't bother to find out
Virexian https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.firstmutant.virexian&hl=en_GB - 4
A duel stick shooter that is well done, should be a 5 or 6... except it desperately needs a controller to work well. Download if you actually have an android controller.
Marvel Future Fight - 4
Just about a 4. It's fine, will waste some time without subjecting you to any bullshit.
Fire Emblem Heroes - 3
The other gacha game I mentioned above. Yes, it has Nintendo's high quality production behind it, but who cares when it fundamentally lacks the aspects that make the original titles any good - strategy? The core gameplay is just so fucking dull. And there's more than enough waifu, gacha bullshit surrounding it to warn everyone to steer well clear.
Ninja Arashi - 3
Mehhhh platformer. Only for genre fans
Pokemon Go - 2
I don't think i really need to bother talking about this, but if you haven't played it, don't bother. In the end there is just no point to the game. There is nothing to really strive towards, no sense of progression, no achievements and the app sucks from a technical standpoint as well.
The Simpsons: Tapped Out - 2
There could have been a really good game here, but instead it's boring microtransaction hell. Fuck you, EA
Asphalt 8: Airborne - 1
The pinnacle of stupid mobile shit. False advertising, crap controls and gameplay, endless stupid bullshit to deal with. i just want a half decent driving game, is that too much to ask?
Retroarch, PPSSPP, Drastic, etc. - 7
