so basically a game that delivers on the trailer visuals and is good up until end game which is trash
...shit, i'd take that in a heartbeat

issa no from me dawg. The Division is one of Ubisoft's biggest offenders.
I liked The Division.
I can't see myself liking anything from Bioware anymore. I remember seeing someone post something like 'oh fuck yes the gameplay of destiny with the quality writing of bioware'

By Dark PhaZe Go To PostI would say so.there's shit in the trailer on a gameplay level that isn't in the gameplay at all
rocket launchers
size of the map (lol whole zones missing)
coordination between multiple squads
division 'was good til the end game' is trash too. zero story (even worse than vanilla destiny but but but realism my ass), no enemy diversity, stale ass abilities, repetitive as fuck mission types, trash weapons top to bottom
only thing that kept division from going quietly into the night was the dark zone fukkery - and of course the devs had no idea how to manage such a good thing.
Not at fucking all. They downgraded just about fucking everything from textures, lighting, weather effects, fog/smoke other particle effects and generally emptied the streets hugely. While games obviously change all the time, this was a huge down grade from what was shown. Everything adds up to it looking a lot less impressive. I believe eurogamer did a comparison in depth video of it, but this does the job in very few seconds.
This looks gud and you should read about it.

The Division had a much better story than vanilla Destiny
That doesn't mean it was at all good, but still. Destiny has the worst presented story of any piece of media I've ever consumed.
Even terrible stories like FFXV have one or two decent moments in them amongst the mess.

We're gonna sit here and pretend Destiny has interesting abilities on launch
That's what we're gonna do.
That's what we're gonna do.
Watched a Centerstrain video and learned you can't assassinate people above your level. Kinda dampened my whole desire to try this now.
I'd like to thank all the fuckhead rpg boys that ruined Assassin's Creed for the few that liked them

if you had the ability to kneecap someone, it'd immediately be the best thing in division lol

Everyone goes back to that video but just because the 1:1 trailer area from that game doesn't match what it looked like in the full game doesn't mean those elements aren't there in different spots in the game. There are spots in the game where things are very dense visually in terms of particle effects and fog. The biggest thing is the map detail is not really comparable to the trailer but its kind of meaningless anyway.

what level was your division main smokey? when the last time you booted up far cry primal?
Graphics wise, the trailer of The Division looks more similar to the PC version of what I played than the version in that Youtube comparison.

Sure it doesn't. But in the end, it's fairly easy to make the conclusion that it was downgraded. Even the individual effects (like the fog/smoke/fire) just look so much worse. I think it still looks pretty good as a whole (but that wasn't the argument here), but I can confidently say it certainly looks quite a bit worse than the trailer.
Anyway more importantly, the game was poop, and I hated every second of it even if it was "free" with my keyboard.

Wasn't Divisions "story" about a bunch of white paramilitary types going around and killing dark skinned NPCs with bandanas?

love destiny but it does have the worst story of all time
it was so bad it was recently revealed that large parts of the story don't even have answers yet--even for something as simple as having a tangible understanding of what the darkness even is .They get around this in Destiny 2 by just focusing on the Cabal.

at least in destiny you see a bad guy and you kill the bad guy
division just has you running around in the streets, to be continued
You guys are seriously going to sit here and knock Destiny's launch while propping up a loot game where the loot at launch was Old Navy clothes and woolly hats. Rilly.

Nothing compared to Mafia 3, where you could shoot white people just for dressing up funny.

the ultimate bad guy in destiny is the darkness and its nowhere to be found nor is it really described
The Division has a tangible A to B storyline along with solid background stories with audio/visuals in the form of echos. There are like 60 of them.
TLOU has neither a big antagonist or a proper resolution
Dy must think it's the worst story ever told

By s y Go To Postwhy do any of you care about story in pretty much online only shootbangers?
The back story to each map in CS is very important to me. Like the way the terrorists have to bomb de_chateau, which is owned by Lord William, who also own de_cobblestone. It adds a sense of achievement, when you plant that bomb.
By DY_nasty Go To Postneed a website for anything high tier these days. you want to roll with not-scrubs in overwatch to get that good loot? same thing.Nah, Overwatch you could solo queue it up and find people your skill level to group with more frequently that way. Especially since the pool you play with gets smaller and smaller the more you skill up. It's how new people get picked for competitive teams in every team-based game with MMR.

By reilo Go To PostHow were the post-launch content updates and support for Division? Not good enough tbh, at least immediately. Didn't bother with the expansions as I wasn't a fan of the repeated hard missions or the first Strike thingy thst they released

By reilo Go To PostWasn't Divisions "story" about a bunch of white paramilitary types going around and killing dark skinned NPCs with bandanas?Nah. It was about a virus outbreak and various factions wanting to solve it in different and competing ways. Also, someone from the organization your character belongs to released the virus and you have to hunt them down for an antidote or research for one or something.

Isn't the darkness just portrayed as the entire horde descending on the Earth? Maybe there's a dark equivalent to the Traveller, but light is a general force rather than an individual, so I don't see why the darkness would be. Oryx is the real final boss of Destiny 1.
By reilo Go To PostHow were the post-launch content updates and support for Division?Pretty good, actually. I ended up not liking the base gameplay much, but they released survival mode and a bunch of other things within a year of release.
