I don't really get why Phil Spencer has to pretend that the Xbox is in its healthiest ever place
Would anyone really be concerned if he just said 'we're aspiring to get back to the level we were at with the 360, and then upwards from there'? Give me that anyday over everythingisfine.jpeg
If he actually thought things were going great, I'd be worried for the future of Xbox. I'm sure he doesn't though.

By Phoenix RISING Go To PostEveryone has moved on to Horizon and Nioh, and here I am still reeling from RE7. Better than I expected.
Man, I'm out here starting up MGS V. Chasing that day one hype train is a sucker's game. Never forget:
Horizon's a Sony first party game, which more than likely means it'll be $15 inside of 18 months like Bloodborne, Killzone, etc. If people haven't decided they hate it by then, I might check it out.
By DY_nasty Go To PostEh… I'll buy digital when I'm certain a game is gonna be a mainstay. Plus some flash deals are too good to pass up
Yeah, there are plenty of games that go on sale digitally for less than their physical trade-in depreciation would be. It often makes more sense.
By s y Go To PostCombat is really fucking good in horizon. O wish there wasn't a restriction on sharing screens and videos until release.
That random fight I had with a Thunderjaw was crazy. Epic even.
Also, play on hard mode at least.
Hype increasing

I only started to listen to their GoTY pods this year but when i checked out what crap they rewarded GoTY in the last few years i was shocked.

9/10 my arse. 7 at most.
@Dipro, in fairness that was a particularly shocking year
What did you think of their GotY podcasts last year btw? I found them very frustrating. Jeff and Brad completely dominated the discussion, with the odd interjection of Alex saying 'this doesn't hang but I wanted to give it a mention'
Also seemed like they were trying to crowbar Doom into every category.

It came down to a protracted debate between Mordor & Bayonetta 2, and Vinny wouldn't budge. "Bayonetta's just more of the same!" he said, defending the LotR-skinned Assassin's Creed.

I felt like everyone was aware that Jeff is the boss and nobody really went hard against him. If he liked something it got top 3 even if only he liked it. If the others liked something they usually bowed out very quickly.
I can't stand Alex so i found him obnoxious as fuck. I love Dan so him bringing up Stardew in every category was funny to me. All in all it was alright, even though i rarely agree with their opinions on games i thought Hitman and Doom were alright picks in a mediocre year.
(Mass Effect 2, Skyrim, GTA4, Mordor and Uncharted 2 are inexcusable those are all 7s at best at time of their resp. releases and have not aged well)
I already get mad just thinking about listening to Jeff shit talk Zelda now that he's a Horizon fanboy. 😆
Mass Effect 2 and Uncharted 2 are brilliant games :(
I wouldn't say I like Alex, but he's grown on me to the extent that I don't hate listening to him any more. For a good long while he had a kind of 'humanity is doomed' schtick that angsty teens usually grow out of by the time they're 17, but he's suppressed that over the last few months. Personally think the Beastcast is miles better than the Bombcast these days. Vinny and Dan are my favourite people from Giantbomb and Jeff Bakalar is great as well. They vibe off of eachother much more than the west coast guys, who frankly seem to be running on fumes right now. They can't muster any enthusiasm for anything, good or bad.

I would agree that they haven't aged well but those three are some of defining games of the generation.
I'll defend GTA IV forever though.

inquisition was good
I was just playing it again last night, I think it's fine. But it's not day-one-hype-train-must-own-one-of-the-best-games-of-the-generation good like those reviews suggested. I just brought it up because sometimes people get super hyped over early reviews for something that has a huge marketing campaign and then down the road...
...the consensus ends up not liking it as much as the day one hype and reviews may have suggested at the time.

Like...I know games lose value, but this is the quickest I've seen it happen. Titanfall 2 has double the value and that game released a MONTH earlier. People been trading FFXV in like its an executive order. Jesus.

Outside of promotions where it makes sense to deal with them, avoid GS and check Best Buy or Target. They'll almost always offer twice the amount.
I got Final Fantasy XV for $10 brand new back in December. The value cratered right away.
(I played about an hour.)

I traded mine in after getting the Platinum. Don't see any replayability in it, and not interested in the DLC either

LoL, I have not played MGS 5, DA:I, or even Mirror's Edge catalyst. , and I own the latter two. Glad to know that I'm not the only person who frowns upon $60 games.
I'm actually thinking about trading in Resident Evil 7 before the free DLC so I can get Max price four Horizon. Wife says she bought it on sale....

I more or less retired from DOTA. Have not played since before the last International. OverWatch demonstrated to me in convincing fashion that there are other games I could be playing that are multiplayer and competitive and don't take an hour per match so that you are stuck with garbage teammates for eternity, or stuck with your Heroes after getting terribly out picked.

Bro is hating it too. The matchmaking is literal trash. He goes from one game where his team will roll the other, and then roles reverse the next game. There's literally no curve

Now this is garbo opinion.
What's cool about For Honor is that I have to wait to level up despite finishing a game that should level me up because their infrastructure is so shitty
how bout that? I have to WAIT until THEIR shit gets sorted despite it letting me do the work to get hte level. Legit have never had this much issues with an online game since the broadband days

I've always been weird I guess. There are tons of things wrong with 3 - the ending is FAR from the worst thing about it too.
Its just that ME2 enabled nearly all of it with poor choices everywhere. ME2 completely removed the intimidating feel of the reapers, introduced a kind of level design that's plain bad, killed the RPG attributes, and made you scan for fun.
At least ME3 had dope gameplay. The story was already halfway down the drain after 2.

ME3 also had the worst cast of characters ever assembled in an RPG. ME2 had the best cast in RPGs since like Baldur's Gate.
Jacob, Miranda, Thane, Not Morinthe, angry DLC man, Kasumi and Grunt were lame af
The good characters were great but there's a lot of dead weight on that roster. A whole lot.

By Dark PhaZe Go To Postim never buying any console game digital ever againnever doing mid gen upgrades so I am good
it's horrific when it comes to mid-gen console upgrades because you have to do the annoying system transfer, and you don't get to recoup some value from the games when you're done
