Is it ethical to have children?
I'd say the answer is clearly no. They will be brought into this world only to suffer and die. Any joy they feel will be fleeting and will be forgotten when they die. Especially given the current political climate and humanity's impending extinction due to climate change.
A person's choice to have a child should not be considered ethical or non-ethical. How you treat or raise one, is.
I'm not going to tirade someone for wanting and choosing to have a child like I won't do it for someone who chooses not to.

This can be said for a lot of this when you just focus on the negative.
It can also not be ethical to have pets. They're just going to die anyway.

I genuinely laughed out loud when i saw this was Qin
Breh there is a chance they'll get to see Bad Boys II, cum a bunch of times and eat a whole load of steak too
If you had that outlook on everything life would be a pretty miserable thing. The world being a terrible place doesnt stop me loving my wife and kids which are reason enough to experience life.
Haha qindarka you legend.
There are many, MANY good and positive things out there to experience while having the privilege of life. Even going out to the park to lay on the grass staring into the sky and feeling the wind is a nice feeling. I am lucky to be born to be able to do that.
Having more than 2 kids i do think is unnecessary but regardless of number of kids i definitely disagree that all they will experience is sufffering and death, there's more to life than that m8
Will humanity exist for all of eternity? No, but that doesnt mean we should just give up on reproducing. Everyone has their troubles and struggles but you just gotta find what makes you feel at ease during your crack in this universe, appreciate the good things. As cheesy as that does sound lol.

By Hitch Go To PostI'd be fucking livid if I'd never been born because of this bollocksBecause of global warming? Well, blame humans for that.
This seems more like a question one asks themselves to justify their already set in stone position to not have a child. Even though there's a bit of turmoil in the world right now, it is still a notably safer and better place to live now than it uses to be.
i knew when clicking this thread it was going be a political thing, and bam its right there in the OP.
King Trump sucks but man, the hysterics I see on forums and social media. "Don't bring kids into this world", "Minorities move out of the US before Death Squads get you you will never be safe not for one minute" etc etc. I think everyone needs to take a deep breath.

On a real though, having a child is a serious decision, one many make without much thought. You seem to be coming from an emotional space, I suggest ou go for a walk and get some centre. Gaze at a waterfall, and stare at the grand canyon

Yes.
Babies are tougher than people think.
In my youthful exuberance 11 years ago, when I brought my daughter home, I did an Ultimate Warrior-style running powerslam into our bed with her in my arms. I was in mid-air when I finally thought OMG WTF AM I THINKING???
I had the back of her head cradled in the palm of my right hand with the rest of her tucked like a football, swaddled. I extended my arms from my body so my weight would fall on my elbows rather than my chest and stomach (and on her). Her little 6 lb. 14oz self bounced up a bit when I landed because that's how physics work, but she did not stir from her slumber. Oh and she turned out a fine child.

No it's not just Trump. It's also the rise of right wing nationalist movements in Western Europe. It's the continued presence of corrupt and even murderous dictators in the rest of the wotld. It's the feeling of powerlessness and despair as these people and movements seem to get waves of followers no matter what terrible things they espouse or commit. And the sense that even this is ultimately trivial, that we have fucked up the environment beyond repair and that our reckoning is upon us sooner than most expect. Even if the world was fine and dandy though, my question would still apply. What use is it to be born when all will be forgotten upon death. All your experiences might as well have never existed at all.
I think that's an issue that a lot of us have kicked around at some time or another. But I don't live my life to remembered forever and I hope my unborn child doesn't live her life that way as well. Honestly, who cares if people forget who you are 70 years after you are dead? The best thing is to enjoy life on your terms as much as you can..

A. The first part of your response is because you're biased to see what you're currently living. Like I said before, by all metrics the current period in time in which we live is much less shitty than previous times.
B. The second part of your seems like fatalism almost. Maybe nihilism. I think it's odd you question having children when doing so would mean you're not forgotten upon death and your experience will live on through them. Either way it's a very depressing outlook on life.
