the little bit of randle i've seen he's looked ok. He looks a little short. And he is.
He seems to want to play big, which is great in the long run but it looks awkward now. I wonder if thats just because he's used to being the biggest guy though, and if he can adjust his game.
He certainly doesn't look in the best shape, but rookies get a year or two to really get in shape.
He's not a bad pick for certain. But where he'll end up is really uncertain still.
His game already shifted significantly from college IMO. In college he was using his size every possession and in Summerleague he looked like a tweener who wanted to be a guard, like he knew his size advantage was a thing of the past, shit had me ready to write him off.
but once preseason started and the competition got bigger/more skilled he has started to look like a tweener who wants to be a big, seemed like either he realized or the coaching staff told him not to try to start from scratch cause he still has good speed with his post moves that can be almost as effective as overpowering your man. That alone should be pretty huge for his development, I can sleep knowing that he has shown enough competence as a PF to not give the coaching staff an excuse to run him at SF.
JJ Barea is now on the market.
He's bad at basketball and not a popular locker room presence, but at least he had that triple double a couple seasons back?

hmmm, Nash needs a replacement in case Jordan Clarkson/Jeremy Lin get injured. Mitch should give him a call.
I would enjoy this so much. And fuck it, man, if you're trying to be bad, just keep signing guys that were on bad Wolves teams.JJ Barea is now on the market.

One of the NBA writers I follow on twitter implied he was headed back too Dallas. Monta and JJ will have it all
That may be the best part, It'll be JJ that starts it.as soon as kobe sits down on the bench so jj can reach himI would enjoy this so much. And fuck it, man, if you're trying to be bad, just keep signing guys that were on bad Wolves teams.JJ Barea is now on the market.

4QF brings back some bad memories...
JJ Barea is now on the market.Hmm salaries match with JR Smith. And theres no way he'll use his player option in Minny so its basically expiring for expiring....

Counting on JR to pass on money
"Fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is 'Never get involved in a land war in Asia,' but only slightly less well known is this: 'Never play a game of chicken against JR Smith when his money is on the line."
If JR puts up the kind of numbers hes capable of he this season would definitely opt out in Minnesota. Hes making Jodie Meeks money right now. Only reason he wouldnt opt out in NY is because he knows phil would tell him to kick rocks.
Jodie's last season was about as good as JR's and better in a few regards. They have eerily similar career numbers plus he's 2 years young, hasn't had serious knee surgery, not to mention he's much smarter, a better team player and he isn't toxic to an offensive scheme as well as any and all young players (hell even vets too).
You can only hope that the new TV deal gets JR thinking he can get a bigger contract and he opts out. Not a bet I'd be willing to make.

Ellington - Concussion
Ryan Kelly - both hamstrings
Steve Nash - Back
Nick Young - Thumb
Xavier Henry - knee
Jordan Hill has a strained neck, but is probable
Price has some sort of knee injury but is also probable
LA's opening night lineup could be looking like:
Lin/Clarkson
Kobe
Wes
Boozer/Randle/Davis
Sacre
ARE YA READY FO SUM FUCKBALL???

DALLAS -- Mavericks guard Raymond Felton will miss more than just the first four games of the season.
NBA rules prevent Felton from serving his four-game suspension, which stems from his guilty plea on New York gun charges from last season, until he is healthy enough to play.
lol

Jodie Meeks is an overpaid scrub. That was by far Jodies best season (fluke) and JR played half the season injured/recovering from surgery. The year before that JR put up better numbers than Jodie would in china. He may be smarter and less toxic than JR but he certainly isn't as good at basketball. JR could easily fetch 6-8 mil in the current market. And I wouldn't take that bet either. JR wants to play in New York and he knows Phil doesn't want him.

This time, there's no lucky 3 pointers to save us from defeat.
All hail the long 2.
Just had my fantasy draft yesterday. How did I do SLAENT brehs?
Russ
Drummond
Horford
Jabari
Wade
Jimmy Butler
Markieff Morris
Elfrid Payton
Draymond
Gallo
Alec Burks
Primo Pasta
Rodney Stuckey
Marion
Jason Thompson
I feel like it's gonna go either really well, or horribly horribly wrong.

Just had my fantasy draft yesterday. How did I do SLAENT brehs?Well, you don't have any 3s, but it seems alright. Minus the Wade part, I wouldn't want to be counting on him.
The start of the season's gonna be weird. Hopefully we just keep our heads above water until KD gets back.
The Morrow injury just adds insult to injury. Our floor spacing is gonna be TURRIBLE.

It was either gonna be him or Wes Matthews. Rolling the dice on this one. As I am with Gallo and Jabari. :(
Jesus Christ.
Reggie and Lamb are questionable for the opener. We might only have 9 players available.
Bassy Telfair's gonna get major minutes. :(

I'm thinking
Wall/Dre
Temple/Rice
Porter/Rasual
Pierce/Hump
Gortat/Seraphin
will be the rotation given injuries/suspensions

Jr isn't as above and beyond Jodie as you think
JR's last injury free season 2012/13
18pts 42%FG 35.6%3pt 5RBnd 2.7asst 1stl
15.6FGA
Jodie last year
15pts 46%FG 40%3pt 2.5Rbnd 1.8asst 1.4stl
11.6FGA
JR's career stats (Sans last season & his first two seasons)
14pts 43%FG 37.5%3pt 3.5Rbnd 2.3asst 1.1stl
11.8FGA
Jodie had a break out year but it wasn't an absurd uptick in FG% or anything, he just got more minutes and more touches. He was playing 3 quarters a game instead of 2, he has had a very similar career projectory as JR with the difference of JR being groomed to be an NBA starter from the jump and Meeks labeled as a bench player. JR is obviously more talented and eager to shoot, but he only showcases that talent every so often and pretty frequently is blows up in his face.
Once you consider all of JR's baggage, him making Meeks money doesn't sound that off.
Ellington - Concussionim going to predict some things:

Bscottie will be public Enemy #1 by season's end.
kobe will regret signing that gigantic contract extension
nash would have released his 2nd doc about his struggle in tinsel town.
Laker fans turn on kobe and hails Randle as their new Caesar.
Hey, I like Telfair. He's totally adequate for a backup that's going to play like 10 minutes.
I always knew you had a soft spot for Clipups.
Out of NOWHER Kawhi wants a max deal.

Why would the Spurs not even give him the full max right now, anyway? It will be a steal of a contract in 2 years when the cap moves up a lot.
Kawhi is going to be that dude that got drafted one year too early. Anthony Davis' max is going to be much larger...

wait, that's out of nowhere?
lol no
Yeah, why not after the end of last season? Why two days before the season begins and the Oct deadline?
I am back from my wedding/honeymoon and ready to get this season going. Can't wait for the Bulls to knock the shit out of melo.

Sounds like it's a cap hold issue for next summer.
Who knows, I'm beyond questioning Spurs FO moves at this point. If they do something, I just expect them to have a pretty good reason to do it.

They're not perfect. See: Richard Jefferson.
I always knew you had a soft spot for Clipups.A few. Ryan Gomes is probably most irrational.I had to latch on to something during some of those real lean years, I regret nothing.
Yes, signing a guy who just shot 41% from three to a 1 year minimum contract is just terrible.Jefferson was awful in San Antonio, didn't fit at all and then they had to pay Golden State a pick and take Captain Jack back just to unload him. It's a pretty big misfire for a team that generally doesn't miss.

It's a pretty big misfire for a team that generally doesn't miss.We are talking about recent signing RJ right? I just don't see how you can claim signing a guy to a 1 year minimum contract that just had a decent year is a misfire.. before even playing a game.

What are you talking about? I'm talking about them signing him to a 4 year nearly $40 mil contract.
They also gave Scola away for free (when he was good).
The Spurs have the best front office in the league, but they're not perfect.
edit: Um, dude, he's a Maverick.
