That looks cool, was pretty close to getting the note 8. Note 9 doesnt look massively diff which I'm fine with so could jump in. Plus headphone jack so massive yay from kidjr
I got the Android 9 update on my phone. The swiping navigation stuff is weird and I turned it off, but I like the visual refresh.

throw it in the trash, google plz
also got Pie on my Pixel last night. I'm trying out the gesture thing to see if I can get used to it. So far it seems alright.

I feel like we didn't talk enough about Kidjr putting his phone in a tray, let alone putting that tray in the oven.
By Hitch Go To PostI feel like we didn't talk enough about Kidjr putting his phone in a tray, let alone putting that tray in the oven.I think we all just thought it was a normal Kidjr type thing.

Theres more coming on this stay tuned.
And putting your phone in the oven is a perfectly normal accident.
It was the tray basin, my rice was about boil over so had to rush to that in panic put phone on the tray face down. By the time I had come back to the tray I forgot my phone was there and didn't see it because of the black on black. I then put what I thought was just garlic break in the oven and not long after I realised. See perfectly sound logic (to me atleast lol)
Anyway yes I think Ima get the note 9. Would have loved to stick with pixel man, I don't know if it was the phone or android but just felt so liberating coming from iPhone.
If you want the best performance and apps on a phone, you go iOS. Fuck developing apps for Android lol

diehard was the one that stated he's switching to iPhone this year 🤷🏻♂️
Unless y'all wanna argue that diehard doesn't know hardware?

tl;dr: Google Fiber cannot be serious.
I'm selling my house and am moving into an apartment, which is pre-wired for Google Fiber. I decided to go with their internet, and they shipped the network box to me this week and I went over to the apartment today to connect it. Fast forward, and the fiber jack never connected to their network, and the person helping me via phone told me it wouldn't be until August 24 that they could get a tech out there to troubleshoot.
What in the hell.

I have to hand it to the Spectrum rep I'm chatting with. She's awfully persistent in trying to have me transfer my service to the new apartment (I'm going through back-up options, but I plan to call Google again next week as also suggested by their rep earlier). I'm moving on 8/18, and I cannot be without internet until 8/24 (I work from home).
Worst comes to worst, I'll transfer Spectrum and then cancel it when Google gets their shit together.

I would blow through my mobile data [the fast data, at any rate] by the first day or two if I tried to use my phone's internet. Leeching onto someone else's... no.
The plan now is that Spectrum will be out on the day I'm moving to "upgrade" my service from Time Warner Cable's old standards to Spectrum, which means faster service (and higher prices, until I separately return my cable equipment and cancel that). But then when Google comes out, and assuming they get it completely together, I'll just cancel all of Spectrum. Though if I'm not satisfied with what Google is doing, I'll cancel them instead. It's not a good first impression to have the service not work, and not be able to get someone out for 2 weeks. Am I going to wait 2 weeks the next time I have an internet issue, also? Spectrum's 200 Mbps internet is slower than Google's 1000 at roughly the same price point, but I've at least been able to rely on TWC/Spectrum over the years. Who knows. Still would prefer to use Google if they can prove their value.

SECURITY MELTDOWNS ON your smartphone are often self-inflicted: You clicked the wrong link, or installed the wrong app. But for millions of Android devices, the vulnerabilities have been baked in ahead of time, deep in the firmware, just waiting to be exploited. Who put them there? Some combination of the manufacturer that made it, and the carrier that sold it to you.https://www.wired.com/story/android-smartphones-vulnerable-out-of-the-box/
That’s the key finding of new analysis from mobile security firm Kryptowire, which details troubling bugs preloaded into 10 devices sold across the major US carriers. Kryptowire CEO Angelos Stavrou and director of research Ryan Johnson will present their research, funded by the Department of Homeland Security, at the Black Hat security conference Friday.
By Smokey Go To PostGuess that settles it.Just doing consumer advocacy, m8. Nobody said anything about iOS.
IOS is literally perfect.
By rodeoclown Go To PostThat Pixel 3 notch is gigantic. What the fuck.
Very glad I joined #teampixel with the 2, jfc
I think we should all pool together some money and buy Cupertino for $400, no one in their right mind would turn down double the value. SLAENT HQ is something desperately needed
How is it?
I will say this update to android is great, really can't believe I spent so long on ios. Its just little things that I find quite cute about android that just make my life easier.
Last phone I loved this much was the nokia 8800 and I didn't even own one.

Reilo Alert
You can say that about both OS's though.
Like, why do i have to go into the settings app on Android to search for phone settings?

Dunno, it's a stealth pic of it in the wild. Not mine.

Really hope someone will make a smaller phone, plan to get a new one this Oct and the Sony compact line looks tempting

Update: Seriously probably just going to drop Google. At least 2 Google guys, and then at least 2 from another company that apparently does their wiring (or part of it) were in my apartment for 3 hours today and I still don't have any service. Last I heard is that yet another company that handles external wiring will have to be involved. Every single person I've worked with has been professional, so no slight on them as individuals, but it just doesn't seem that they're ready for primetime.
To be honest, my Spectrum internet has been pretty good, and I don't even have it going full speed yet (just bought a new router, so once I get it hooked up, we'll see how fast it goes, but I was only getting ~30 Mbps on my current router [though it has been as fast as 50 previously] and the tech got ~243 on his direct connection). I'm streaming TV with DirecTV Now, and I've had simultaneous streams going on 2 TVs and MLB.TV streaming either on a third or on my PC, and the picture quality has been fantastic. I don't think I need Google Fiber. Would it be nice? Sure. But if the service can't get up and running, and if Spectrum is performing great as is and should be better with my new router, I think I'm good to go.
