The second tier Sony phone, the ZXs is available starting today. Like the LG6 it has last year specs but the updated current Sony camera tech that will ship on their flagship (ZX Premium) in early June. $699 unlocked at retail with no carrier partnership in the US.
Just demoed the LG6 and S8. Both screens are very, very long. Much bigger in person than I was expecting. Neither felt too big to handle in one hand though which was nice. And I like the lack of a bezel on both phones.
S8 just seems like a longer S7 with a curved screen. I don't like it. I also don't like the gimmicky app drawer ability to pull apps from the side of the screen. Looking at the settings there is a fuckton more Samsung stuff running in the background to support their VR and Bixby assistant. Yuck.
The LG had a nice metal body and is covered in glass. Build quality feels real nice. Settings seemed pretty straightforward.

Samsung OS are trash. If you're buying a Samsung phone, I always urge to get the Vanilla Android variant.

Plus, with the new bill that allows ISPs to track all your shit, none of us should be running a provider made OS variant. Who knows what kind of fucked up malware/adware shit is in there.
By GQman2121 Go To PostLG G6 drops on Friday. It's packed with identical internals as the Pixel.
Got burnt hard with g4. Loved it right until it decided to kill itself, and just absolutely refuse to boot after that. Googled a lot and realized it was a common problem with the motherboard I had, and LG did not bother helping whatsoever despite several attempts at getting through to them.
Still rocking the LG G2. Just replaced the battery and I feel no need to upgrade whatsoever. Long may it run still. Definetely the best phone I've owned. Thanks again, Bla.
It's quite possible that having Facebook installed was what was killing my Nexus 6p's battery. I uninstalled it on Sunday and after a full charge, the battery has been dropping respectfully for how much I've been using the phone. The app never should a lot of battery usage when I looked, so it's an odd thing for sure. I'll keep monitoring it.
Twitter as well. There was a point where Twitter iOS was draining my battery so badly that I uninstalled it for a week just to let my battery go back to normal. Reinstalling it a week later made it normal usage again.
The battery and ram control, as well as, ability to put apps to sleep using zero power is one of the nicest features of Android Nougat.
It's the only thing that's allowing me to squeeze out five hours of use on this S7.

I like some of the other features my Denon has. One is a smartphone app that will let me control it from anywhere in the house (helpful if I misplaced the remote or ran out of batteries).
It also has dual zone control which would let me install some stereo speakers outside (or in another room) and have them be powered and controlled independently of my main speakers.
By Smokey Go To PostI hate samsungI don't know how much you write with your phone or if you do business with it, but if so, I really like the Blackberry software on top of the Android OS. Here is a review of one of their latest phones: http://www.techradar.com/reviews/blackberry-keyone
But damn
Or hold for the OLED iPhone….
This v10 too dusty for me
Ugly as sin, but if you use multiple email, social media, and messaging accounts/apps, the Hub is a godsend. The security features and encryption is a step above what others offer on Android, too, if that is your thing. The touch-sensitive keyboard is an amazing thing.
e: it may not have the power you would like, but it makes up for it in battery life, if reviews are to be believed
Anyone here know much about the Xiaomi Mi Band 2? I have a Fit Bit Charge HR but the battery is dying on me, wondering if I should bother with another Fit Bit or just get a cheaper Xiaomi Mi Band 2. It seems like it does most of the same things for 1/4th the price.
I have the Charge 2 and the battery is MUCH better over the original. It lasts roughly 7-8 days at full charge even six months into every day use.
FWIW, you can tell Fitbit support that your battery is dying and they'll give you a 30% discount. It's what I got when the armband got bubbles in it on the old Charge.

I called them and they wanted me to monitor the Fitbit battery first, it's lasted okay but their instructions are basically... Don't sync your device much and it'll last the recommended time, which seems bad. I sync like 3-4 times a day, but I leave Bluetooth on all day so don't know if it auto syncs. If it does that's probably why it dies, but seems like bad design to me.

Tell them you have a bubble in your armband then lol. I'm sure you'll develop one soon enough.
I believe you can turn All Day Sync off, and I'd say you really only need to sync once a day. I sometimes go a couple of days without doing so. Also, Bluetooth being on won't affect it unless it's actively communicating with your phone e.g. you have the Fitbit App running.

I can't compare it to the Fitbit since I haven't used one but for the money I'm very happy with it. You can set it to notify you when you have a call or a message and it will vibrate and the name of the person will appear on the screen. You can also set up 'band alerts' which allow you to get notifications from any other app but this is more limited and just tells you that you have a notification, not what app or who it is from.
Does anyone here have a Kameelah Ass List for android smartphone requirements? I want to see if I'm the only one that does.

I saw the Galaxy S8 and S8+ yesterday in a store. I didn't get much time with them but they looked amazing. They both felt great too even with the security devices around them.

It was the second quarter in a row that Services revenue passed $7 billion. And “it's well on the way to being the size of a Fortune 100 company,” CEO Tim Cook said during the company’s earnings call.Holy fuck. Now if only Apple would invest some of that money in doing a brand new iTunes from the ground up smh.
For context, that’s a much bigger business than other notable internet services, such as Netflix and Amazon Web Services.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 pretty much does the same things. The app isn't as good but it does the job.
The price of the Mi Band 2 is low too, so if it turns out you don't like it you haven't lost a lot of money.

This is really fucking cool: https://blogs.microsoft.com/transform/feature/my-god-its-better-emma-can-write-again-thanks-to-a-prototype-watch-raising-hope-for-parkinsons-disease/
Emma drawing/writing with and without the watch:
[...]
Engraved on the watch is a name – “emma” – in breezy lettering that, to Lawton’s eyes, looks eerily similar to her own handwriting. Impossible, however. She’s been unable to write legibly for years due to hand tremors caused by Parkinson’s disease. Lawton, a graphic designer, was diagnosed with the movement disorder in 2013, destroying her ability to do two things sacred to her: drawing letters and lines.
[...]
“It’s still a surprise to me when my handwriting comes out the other side of it,” says Lawton, who is posting daily video blogs for one year about her “adventures with Parkinson’s.” “The device doesn’t stop my tremor. It gives me some control there. The writing, it’s not going to be perfect. But, my God, it’s better.”
[...]
In people with Parkinson’s, the brain fires off extra signals to muscles, creating a chaotic, internal feedback loop that causes muscles to essentially panic and perform many movements at once. That creates tremors. The vibrations from the watch seem to cause Lawton’s brain to focus on her right wrist, apparently reducing the brain’s messages to that spot.
“It’s like injecting white noise into that feedback loop in order to disrupt it,” Zhang says.
The pattern of the vibration is also important. For Lawton, a rhythmic vibration is effective. (A specially designed app in Emma’s Windows 10 tablet controls vibration speed.) For other people, a more random rhythm may work better, Zhang says. However it works, she knows she’s onto something. Lawton does, too.

I need help.
I was streaming something and it stopped. I now can't connect to certain sites over wifi like here and bbc. I reset the router and used google dns, but still can only connect on here through ethernet.
Any tips?

Change your wifi name and password and give that a shot. Upgrade your firmware. Buy a new router because the wifi chip might be borked?
Is another computer or device (phone, console, etc.) able to access those sites? Need to see if it is an issue with a device connecting to the network instead of the network or network device itself.

Thanks lads. In the end it started working fine in the morning. Accidently reset the passwod and name, but it was still playing up. All my devics would only connect to google sites and facebook, but nothing else from what I could tell.
Would the wifi chip likely cause this problem of only accessing certain sites? If it happens again then I will just buy a new router.
I doubt it is a physical parts problem with the router if it is providing access to some sites fine but not others. From what you have said, there may be an issue with the routing between your house and those problem sites. I don't know enough about networking to give you any advice on how to fix it in the future.
What may help others, though, is if you do a trace route in Windows to your problem sites and the sites you don't have issue with. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/314868/how-to-use-tracert-to-troubleshoot-tcp-ip-problems-in-windows

But the camera on it was crap even back then, the battery life has gotten bad and I've been thinking of finally upgrading and buying a Redmi 4 when it goes on sale here in a few days, are Xiaomi phones any good?
