I'm gonna start if off with my dark horse GoTY.
Xenoblade Chronicles X
The only pure system seller I've played since Halo 3. Combat is all the good of a PSO and has more depth than any other big JRPG released this year. Its good, but its not why the game is great. The exploration in this game makes the world of Fallout 4 seem like an episode of Rugrats without the imagination filters. Its unreal how much of a world they give you to fuck around in.
120+ hours and more to come. Worth the money and more.
I'll think of more games later. This is the only thing on my mind right now. What yal got?

Games I really enjoyed:
Witcher 3 - which would no doubt be number 1 on my list. Just love the world, even with the usual amount of jank and Roach getting stuck on invisible walls all the time. The combat is also more than I fine thought, which I see many disagree with. Sure the combat is not exactly what keeps me playing the game, but it's not something that keeps me away either, and I love everything else about it.
The rest of my list is in no order however:
Dreamfall chapters - haven't finished yet, episode 2, 3 and 4 came out this year. It's really good.
Dropsy - Adventure game about giving out hugs, as some weird freakish circus clown. What is there not to love?
Prison Architect - Good fucking prison building simulator. Went out of early access in 2015, but has in reality been good for a long time.
Metal Gear Solid V - A lot of really frustrating things about this, and things I wish were done differently. But it just plays so fucking well, love going in on a base and killing everyone in creative ways.
Lisa - Pretty earthbound/mother inspired, and it's pretty cool m8's. Also cheap.
Undertale - Another very mother inspired game, it's ugly as fuck, the style really does nothing for me, but it's also really good. I know the tumblr crowd might be annoying, but it's worth checking out. It's short as well (4 to 5 hours), so the battle system despite not being the greatest doesn't wear itself out. They do a lot of cool and funny things in it.
Offworld trading company - By Soren Johnson. Been playing this quite a lot before it went early access, which it did sometime this year. Been interesting to play it through the different development phases. It's already pretty good and it will get better. It's extremely simple when you learn the basics, but that's also what makes it interesting to play against others.
Kholat - Russian jank horror based on the tr00 story of the dyatlov pass incident (wiki that shit, it's insane). It's interesting especially for the like 5 euros I bought it for.
Life is strange - Only played the first 2 episodes so far. I really should play it some more, cause it has been good.
Games I only just started/played a little of, but think are really cool and promising: Sunless sea, cities:skylines, elliots quest, ori and the blind forest.
Most disappointing: Fifa 16 (seriously so bad, fuck off EA) and Fallout 4 (and that was despite barely expecting anything).

Whoah, this looks so cool. They say they're doing a Mac version, I might check that out.
I hardly played anything that came out in 2015, but I had a good time with Axiom Verge, Stein's Gate (Vita release), Resident Evil HD Remake, Mario Maker, and just getting into Xenoblade. GOTY would probably be Mario Maker; all the crazy levels people have put together remaking other games are amazing, and the back & forth competition among the Giant Bomb guys trying to troll each other with impossible levels has been great.
Bestest
Witcher 3 - Currently absorbed in this. Eastern Euro Zelda.
Axiom Verge - Best Metroid homage I've played. Love the soundtrack.
Hand of Fate - Released early this year and not as many played it, but one of the most clever mixes of genres I've seen.
GTA V PC - self explains eh
Honorable Mention but actually came out end of last year: The Talos Principle
I need to play more of Life is Strange, Undertale and Lisa. I actually prefer Lisa to Undertale, though the latter gets all the press. I like Ori, but it has pacing issues that can turn me off. (Insta death jump sequences urtghhrughsgh) I put a lot of hours into the GW2 expansion, but it's got too many issues to make a goty list. NBA 2k16 still has many of the flaws I've long had with the series. I think Sports games need the indie-verse to challenge the status quo, make a game free of licensing that actually plays like the NBA and has some flavor.

Dan vs patrick is some of the funniest things I've seen
the GOATs:
Bloodborne (+expansion)
TW3 (+glorified DLC)
The Talos Principle (+spin off)
SOMA
the flawed:
Rocket League
Life is Strange

Fallout 4
the MEHs:
Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin
Wolfenstein the Old Blood
Journey
and the ugly:
The Beginner's Guide
Broken Age Act 2
MGSV
FIFA 16

Its the game I go to every day to have some fun in. Its gotten to the point where I get pissed because my skill in it is declining :(
Nothing else really stands out too much for me from this year besides MGSV but that is way too flawed.

Its been a couple of weeks now and I'm still not sure how I feel about the new CoD. It deserves more attention as an FPS. Stupid amount of content, clean, and fun as fuck (when its not being CoD).

By DY_nasty Go To PostOT a bitWe're like six months out, so whatever some minor spoilers. Having the Joker back in the game was such a fucking cop out, even if he's just in Bruce's head. Like they were too scared to make a game without him in so this is what they devised to get Hamill back in the role. The story itself is so surprisingly predictable and I don't even read comic books.
but Arkham Knight... easily the most flawed game of the year.
Actually playing the game is actually fairly boring, too. Every mission devolves into Batman using the bat tank to do some mundane tasks he didn't need it for in any of the previous games. Then you eventually get some lame tank battle. It honestly shocks me that this is the direction they took after the flawless Arkham City, like they didn't get why people liked it.
On topic, um, my favorite game was probably Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Flawless. Arkham City.
u wot m8.
I enjoyed my time with Arkham Knight. I thought it was well done and I enjoyed the batmobile.
Amazing graphics and presentation. Really liked some if those sidequests and the Joker hallucinations were pulled off nicely. Didn't really pay attention to the story because 5 minutes in I could tell this was an 'Under The Red Hood' retread.

I second any nominations for Fallout 4 as most disappointing, though. It makes steps to streamline the game, and while some of them work (I don't want to have to repair my weapons ever again), the things Bethesda did to the dialog and story are real killers. They took out any real choice the games had. I'm not role playing anymore, you're just funneling me through your stupid shooter.
The fact that Bethesda managed to make a game that has worse writing and questing than the game they made 4 years ago while keeping everything else essentially the same is really mind-boggling.
Agree with that re: the main story in Fallout, but everything else is so good. Love the crafting, scavenging, and settlement management.
The shooting mechanics are solid as hell for a non-shooting game. The companion implementation is really fun. Power Armor is awesome.
Not really disappointed with the game at all.

The dialogue is pathetic now.
I still loved Fallout 4 (before Xenoblade completely shat on it) but its lack of depth is gonna be the thing I remember most. That and crops.
Best DLC: Destiny TTK
Not sure about best game yet. GTA V PC for sure, but that probably doesn't count. Will wait until I complete TW3 to determine. A stupidly good year for entertainment though. Just absolute bonkers how many great games there were.

sure you're not just down/jaded on games in general atm? there was a lot of good out there this year imo
This year had some seriously great games writing. Witcher 3, SOMA, Life Is Strange, Tales from the Borderlands all would've won heaps of awards if they came out in 2013/14.
Even something like Until Dawn, which very well could've turned out embarrassing was smartly written and well realized. Great year.

By Dark PhaZe Go To Postyea you jaded lolBecause I felt that 2015 was kinda weak? lol ok.. seems perfectly logically. 2014 was really good but 2015 wasn't to me.. I guess if that makes me jaded then I am.. But it seems pretty fucking lame to call someone jaded because they don't agree you, no?
I love the shit out of Batman but I could never stick with Arkham City. I get why people like it but I kept drifting away and eventually sold it after 2 years at like 75% in. I was like "you know, I have about all the satisfaction I'm going to get out of this."
Knight is better than City. Asylum is much better than both.
Grow Home is one of the worst games I've played this gen.

nah, what I found lame was your response to a legitimate question with " I know what games I like thx" like a sour puss
Reason I even asked the question was because I'm a bit jaded myself--I see a lot of objectively good games released on the year and I haven't beaten any of them besides TTK because I simply can't bring myself to do so
I can appreciate that you legitimately just might feel differently, just thought your response was unnecessarily salty

It just didn't have what I like.. at least the kind of games I like didn't deliver. Actually having more fun catching up on titles I missed in 2014 than most the newer stuff I bought in 2015.. like Shadow of Mordor..
