Prometheus is getting a sequel nobody wanted

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/633311-alien-covenant-gets-a-title-treatment-release-date-and-synopsis
I don't think I want anything more in the Alien universe period. Nobody has done anything good with the property in like 30 years. (Alien 3 is interesting, but flawed and ultimately kind of bad.) Prometheus sucked and I don't know why this exists, but I don't think I really wanted Neil Blomkamp rebooting it, either. So let's just stop.
Neil Blomkamp rebooting Alien was exciting right after District 9 released, but became less and less of a "that might turn out great!" proposition the more movies he made.
I actually quite enjoyed Prometheus, which is why I absolutely refuse to rewatch it
the third act was a bit meh, but made up for it with that creature moment. Fucking CHILLS

It would have been a perfectly great movie had the motivations of the characters not been re-written by Lindelof. It really just needed to have a smart plot progression, and all of those changes could've been done by minor screenplay and dialog edits.
It also doesn't help that Alien holds up so extremely well (which I re-watched a couple of weeks ago on Blu-Ray) to this day. Some of those set designs are fucking phenomenal.

Prometheus is totally gorgeous and definitely has the spectacle part down pat, but it's just incoherent. I honestly had no idea what was happening and then suddenly there were really overt references to Alien that just confused me more.
By Elchele Go To PostReilo why do you hate Prometheus?I don't hate it. I was just extremely disappointed with it because of my own hype for it. It got so many things right, but the plot and story, not so much. It was only made worse when I read the original screenplay's plot details and all of the dumb changes were added in only after Lindelof came in and took a shit on it.

The overall mood and atmosphere of Prometheus were really on point when compared to Alien. That was enough for me to enjoy it.
Prometheus is one of my favorite bad movies. It looks amazing, has great atmosphere but has the most plot holes of any movie I can think of.

Concur.
I wanted to like it so very much too.
By Prototype Viktor Go To PostI actually saw it in theaters and didn't even know it was a Alien movie til well into it
i won tickets for an advance screening when there was no reviews out so i didn't know as well.
i never paid attention so i'm not even sure if people knew before it came out.
everybody liked it, it's not a great movie but i wouldn't mind seeing more.
i'm also more excited for this than a Blomkamp alien movie.
