Gran Turismo Sport announced for PS4 (early 2016)
That Gran Turismo SPORT will feature highly evolved graphics and sound quality, not to mention a totally revamped physics engine,
should come as no surprise. The true beauty of Gran Turismo SPORT goes much deeper, as it will forever change
the way driving games are seen. It will redefine the very definition of “gaming” and “motorsports.”

In Gran Turismo Sport, there will be two FIA online championships running simultaneously. In the Nations Cup, players will be able represent their home country. Whilst in the Manufacturers Cup, players will be driving on behalf of their favorite car manufacturer.
Players will not only be able to race as drivers themselves, they’ll also be able to root for their home country or their favorite manufacturers teams.
The winner of the championship will be awarded in the same manner as real life motorsports champions, at the FIA prize giving ceremony. This will be a historic moment, the first time a video game will officially be recognized as part of the real motoring world.

I said it in football thread but I hope this is Gran Turismo 7 with just a different name, and not some small spin off or prequel to 7.
Hyped as though

By Laboured Go To PostComparisonPD always uses higher quality assets when making trailers, so I don't know that GT Sport will look like that either.
Also bear in mind the GT6 shot is from the photo mode.
But I find this more appealing than GT7. Gives them time to sort out their tech before making a full fledged GT game.
Plus no standards and hopefully the sounds are good. Just wondering if they're gonna add the VGT cars to GT Sport.
But they said this would have all you would expect from a GT game or something along those lines.
I dont think this is a prologue

it'll look better than driveclub. i've always believed.
no one knows outside of polyphony. not even jim ryan.
and there wasn't even a single interview afterwards. this whole thing is confusing.

Yeah I dont know how hyped I should be, I mean surely they wouldnt wait three years is to release a prologue my heart tells me, but my head says its Polyphony so yeah they probably can.
the fia thing sounds cool, though. like an extension of the gt academy thing.
will have to get a ps+ sub for that.

They've got a new sound director so hopefully sounds are getting re-done.
seriously. i would just for once like to enjoy watching a replace of a race without hearing those grating engine sounds. the tire screeching's even worse.
If it somehow gets close to Driveclub's graphics i'm satisfied. I don't think PD is capable of achieving 60fps with those graphics.
I really want this new game to be more serious and closer to simulation than ever. And i think it will be.

Car models will be better, lightning no, but then I really cant see too many games surpassing that dynamic lighting in Driveclub.
I don't know if it's because racetracks are very sterile in real life (they truly are minus some exceptions...) but I agree that this still looks like it's just a marginal upgrade. The game needs some life in it. Car racing is supposed to be exciting and exhilarating but this doesn't feel like it. It's more Uncanny Valley.
i agree with dipro, gt has a borderline fetishistic luxury car showroom feel that no other racer has.

gt6 has aged a decade in 3 years. 'marginal' upgrade is fine given it ran like shit on ps3. just taking those car assets, uprezzing the hell out of them and improving the trackside details will make it worthwhile.

you're telling me i have to spend $350 on a ps4, $60 on GT Sport, $500 on PSVR, another $300+ for a wheel, and probably a cockpit seat (cuz why the fuck not at this point?) to play GT the way I want to play it?
nope! no sir. no this fool.
fuck :(

I am literally jaw dropped at how bad this came looks, how did GT, one of the Sony's staple brands for visuals end up looking like this.
I could quite easily slit my wrists with those jaggies.
Lets hope the aspects make up for such an appalling upgrade.

The wheel thing kills me. Last gen Logitech sold a decent wheel with forced feedback for about 120$. I bought DriveClub got pissed I had to shell out so much for a wheel and won't buy another racing game again this gen.
