There are a few bits that had me excited, but looks like they are keeping the worse aspects of the prequels in this film. Pace looks like it is gonna be way too fast and more about explosions and battles than characters.
By Trey Go To Postoh neat, didn't know they were making another one. looks clean.Have you been living under a rock at the bottom of the Marianas Trench?
Wow this looks hype. I saw Star Wars first time a few years ago and I really liked it. I am looking forward to seeing this and Hateful 8.

You can tell that from a 2 minute trailer explicitly designed to excite people?
They aren't going to focus on character in these. They aren't even revealing the plot.

My feeling from that is that it will be location jumping a lot and will follow the formula of every other blockbuster movie.
I also feel that it revealed a lot about the plot potentially. Vader's apprentice has risen and is seeking revenge, the empire still is in control and things might have even gotten worse since the fall of the emperor, now people don't even remember the jedi.

Don't think he's Vader's apprentice. More of a fanboy. He isn't even a Darth.
By n8 Go To PostDon't think he's Vader's apprentice. More of a fanboy. He isn't even a Darth.Yeah this is WAAAAY after the battle of Endor. Maybe 30 years (about the same amount of time between RoJ and this flick) so yeah it isn't possible for him to be Vader's apprentice..
Not sure if this is true but from what I gather...
Sounds like Jedis and Sith have become myths and Kylo's group kinda worships the Sith
By Yurt Go To PostDarth Vader was such a simp though, not sure why anyone would be a fanboy of hisdude tortured his own daughter just for the fuck of it....
Well, yeah, the trailer definitely implies that, not really a rumor. Han Solo saying "the legends are true", "the force is real", etc. The new black mask guy looking at Vader like a cult figure.
By blackace Go To Postdude tortured his own daughter just for the fuck of it....touche
but on the other hand, he can't even breathe on his own mate
Dear new antagonist, please be your own man and don't worship false idols.
Vader could have easily have taken on an apprentice, does mean he necessarily had to be a sith, and I don't understand why time makes it not possible.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostVader could have easily have taken on an apprentice, does mean he necessarily had to be a sith, and I don't understand why time makes it not possible.because he was supposedly born after the battle of Endor?
By blackace Go To Postbecause he was supposedly born after the battle of Endor?
he could of had apprentices before then, something that has always been around in the expanded universe. I don't think it is too far of a stretch for him to be an apprentice. Also speculating further, it would make sense for a Vader apprentice to go to Endor once he had learn of his master's death and discovered the mask.
Kylo is a fanatic. Vader's legacy has kind of devolved into a mythological tale, with his helmet (and other items) being regarded as sort of religious relics. Imho
By Yurt Go To PostI feel like the full mask is there for a reason
...and that could be red herring I suppose
the truth is
Luke actually got a rebel technician pregnant after he returned from Dagobah the second time. Luke kept the burnt mask as a reminder of how the dark side can turn a good man bad, but also that the light side of the force will always prevail. But little did Luke now that his son would become fixated on that mask and that he would often hear the dark side calling him. Luke taught his son everything he knew about the force, but his son turned to the dark side and took the mask as his token to the empire to prove his claim to Vader's bloodline. Luke became so depressed after his son's turn that he shut down his jedi academy. If he couldn't even successfully train his own son then how can he be trusted to train others.

Looks good.
The only thing I don't like is that the entire world will be in STAR WARS FRENZY for a solid 3 months. I mean, the movies are fun and all but their popularity brings out the grumpy old man inside me for some reason.

Group bands together on Tatooine, joins Rebel Alliance, discovers Jedi powers, fights Empire led by black-masked, red-lightsaber-wielding villain. I'm glad they spent their entire creative budget on X-Wing-vs-TIE Fighter dogfights rather than the script. Who doesn't want a rehash of the manichean galaxy far, far away?
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postthere's one black guy in the trailerYou'll never find a more paranoid group than those in a position of privilege. Every tiny little question about their dominance of the popular culture makes them so insecure.
so yeah, inner racist am obvious from comments like that
See: the all-female Ghostbusters, Boyega in Star Wars, Furiosa, etc.
It wasn't just the black guy either. The fact that there's a strong female lead was mentioned as well.

JJ films are fun.
never a classic but overall fun experience.
But in my view, this isn't a Star Wars canon film. More like a Parallel Universe story arc.
A Star Wars film is Lucas' brainchild.
But with that said, day 1 for me.
Im going to enjoy the shit out of this movie.
and that trailer is freaking flawless. :O

umm, where's Mark Hamilll in that trailer,
and he doesn't seem to be visible in the poster?
I need this answered now dammit.

You haven't fully given yourself up to the darkside.
I"m hyped as fuck for this. I really only hated the first movie in the prequels even though they were all pretty damn sub par when compared to the originals.
By K@do Go To Postumm, where's Mark Hamilll in that trailer,Purposefully left out. He's the McGuffin of the story. We saw his android hand in the early trailers when he touches R2D2.

I bet he gave into the dark side.
I think Harvey Dent said it best:
"You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

lucas jumped the shark years ago bro
lucas penning a new trilogy is such a disgusting thought--it'd be a disaster
Honestly, if they kept the Lucas outline and hadn't started the story from scratch with JJ and Kasdan at the helm I would be more concerned about Episode VII.

New versions obviously need more implied gross monster rape.
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postlucas jumped the shark years ago brooh i never said his versions of episodes 7-9 would be any good.
lucas penning a new trilogy is such a disgusting thought--it'd be a disaster
Lucas hasn't made a good film since Empire Strikes back.
Also i read way back that He was molding one of his Daughters to possibly direct episodes 7-9.
By reilo Go To PostWell this thread blew up lol.
Original trilogy jumped locations moreso than even Bond movies did.
ANH: tatooine/death star-falcon/death star-death star-Yavin/death star
ESB: Hoth/ Vader's fleet-falcon/Vader's fleet-Dagobah/falcon-cloud city
ROTJ: Tatooine-Dagobah/rebel fleet-endor-endor/death star-endor/death star/space battle
They didn't really jump around and for all but the final parts ROTJ there were only ever two storylines happening. And for the most part you were following the journey to their locations.
