A throwaway remark from Jeremy Clarkson has fuelled speculation that he and his former Top Gear colleagues will head to the United States to develop their new car show.

During the Australian leg of his worldwide stadium tour, which had been known as Top Gear Live before it was stripped of its BBC branding, Clarkson was teased for his American accent by co-hosts James May and Richard Hammond. Clarkson replied: "You're not in America."
