i'll miss rufus. i actually went to college with the guy who spent most of the time as the mascot. apparently he'd been the mascot for middle school, high school, and our college... he pulled double duty before he graduated too. was johnson c smith university's golden bull and rufus for the bobcats.

I just found out about this.
The Hornets will now own and have access to all of the historical elements from not only the Bobcats era (2004-2014) but also the original Hornets era in Charlotte (1988-2002). The Pelicans will maintain the history and statistics beginning with the team’s first season in New Orleans (2002-03).This is great.

How does one get into mascotting? Is there like a diploma or a license you can get?
I wanted to be the mascot for my HS, they told me they didn't have a costume. Then like 5 years later they found the costume and my younger brother got to be the mascot.
At my first HS they had a costume and actual tryouts. A girl from the band ended up with the job, our mascot was Abe Lincoln. There's something very confusing about a giant headed Abe Lincoln with boobs.
I dunno about college, you probably have to try out. My alma mater has a guy on a horse who basically has the job until he doesn't want it anymore.

Paul Lukas from UniWatch said that they already plan on bringing back the original Hornets unis after next season for throwback nights.Not bad but I wish they had pinstripes.
Got to have something to do in year 3 or 4..
Also, interesting development is that the NBA is moving the Jerry West logo to the back of the jersey on all jerseys, not just for Charlotte. Looks like they're making space for adverts.
