Basically lower your expectations. Been saying it since they showed it off...it's being hyped up way too much for what it is. I dunno if some of that is from PS fans celebrating that it won't be on X1 or what. It is an interesting concept but as they said in the video....it's still an indie game albeit and really polished one.
I'm excited for it because of the exploration factor. I've been keeping expectations in check. I've seen some really far out there hyperbole when it comes to this game tho.

...but it will be on XBO at some point. Are people really propping up the game on that fact that it's coming to PS4 first? I mean, they're releasing on PC day one.
It's an interesting combination of ideas that were presented at a time when not a whole lot was going on with the consoles we all spent hundreds of dollars on. I think that's what really started the initial hype ball to begin its downhill roll to the point where we are now.
I've been of the mind (and still remain so) that I need to know more. Yes, it looks cool and what Murray has been saying for the last two years sounds like something I would like to see with my own eyes; however, the vagueness of how the systems that have been touched on work just need more explanation. That info is slowing coming out but Murray isn't the right person to be selling this to the public. He's just not.
Now having said that, the intergalactic police stuff sounds promising, but if you really can't come across other players in the galaxy at random, then I think they've missed a huge opportunity. To collect shit; make shit; and then rob motherfuckers of their shit that you didn't even know existed is clearly be a huge, huge draw for a lot of people.

It's a single player exploration game with 'new' worlds being created on the fly that allows you to fly around, kill some animal things, and activate messages for the next person to see. snooze.

Yes
I think the GS guy messed up. You can encounter other players but it will be a rare occurrence due to the size of the world.
Elite Dangerous pulls off this concept better than NMS IMO. Although they are two different types of games artistically, ED has proven developers in this area. A planetary exploration expansion pack will be hitting soon as well. With NMS I've always thought of it as being way too ambitious for an indie team. The fact that people are still asking "what do you do" 2 years later is bad.
It is bad. I agree with you Smoke.
Danny from GS is about to hit the Giant Bomb live couch, so maybe they'll talk more about the game.
They briefly touched on it at the end of the first segment. Brad let slip that Will Smith's sons public quotes (Twitter and Instagram I'm assuming) are messages that are left on some of the planets as like a form of a previous civilization or some shit.....

You can run into other players but it is very unlikely
You CAN come across other players and see them, but it's extremely unlikely because of just how big the game is. There are 18 quintillion planets after all. As you get closer to the center, the chances of running into another player will increase, but it will still be a slim chance. If you do come across another real player, where will be no indication aside from your own observation. If you see a ship that's flying un-AI like, then it could be another player. If you see a person in a suit get out of a ship and walk around, then it's probably another player

lmao
And I would respond to this miracle, this rarest of encounters, by killing that figure dead, on the fuckin spot.
What I've heard is what I was looking for in the game. I don't know what you mean with expectations. but I'm in it for exploring. It sounds like you're a space privateer/scientist/explorer.

I'm not entirely sure how the multiplayer works in No Man's Sky, but if there are planets that have special features that would attract people once they learn about them, it could lead to interesting interactions.
By S@l Go To Postlmaobut say hello first before you do it then say "hey what's that new thing behind you" and as they turn you blast their head off

My favorite part of Minecraft was finding cool locations that the engine randomly generated.the special things are the hot new elements to use to upgrade shit that you can warp back to the early/medium galaxies and pimp that shit on the market. I'm going to rush getting to that dam center unless i find a cool ass planet to set up shop in

The game interest me but I'm not buying it on day 1. I'll wait on reviews and make up my mind then. Exploration and stuff is cool though.

"Imagine: Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors and SpaceX, reclines behind a desk built out of spare rocket ship parts. A gleaming saber rests to his right. Sean Murray, founder of the independent game development studio Hello Games, sits across from him, chatting about Hello's new title, No Man's Sky. There's a break in the conversation and an awkward silence threatens to stretch between the two, but then: "What do you think is the percentage chance that we're living in a simulation?" Musk asks. Murray hardly has time to answer -- he's running late for an appointment with Steven Spielberg and his communications director is getting antsy. At this rate, they won't have time to meet up with Kanye.
This is the true story of E3 2015 for Murray and Hello Games. "
