I think Moutaintops of the Giants might be my least favourite area so far. There's some cool stuff scattered throughout these vast snow-covered fields, but overall it just isn't doing it for me. I just crossed the giant chain, making my way towards the Forge.

Finished* Volcano Manor last night. Some more good shit but still not as good as Stormveil Castle. Although I have to say, actually finding the legacy dungeon bit was a fucking joke and I'm surprised I haven't seen more people complaining. Maybe I don't want to run around the map killing people to get access >:( Not killed the boss though, just in case it screws something up. Which is also kind of annoying.
And now, I have to go back out into the open world and run around in the dark for an hour or two until I find the next cool thing.

Although I do miss the tightly interconnected world design of Dark Souls 1, the open world of Elden Ring is more fun to explore than what they did with DS2/3.
Think I'd much prefer it if the map revealed where you've been, instead of revealing huge sections of it at a time.
Yeah, the open world made it much better. It might have been better to make the world a little denser, but the fast travel system really helps with that...
Yup, haven't been this engrossed in an open world since BotW. The massive scale is almost too daunting however, a lot of instances where I've been paralyzed with what to do next and just meandered around. But the game is so good about rewarding aimless exploration anyways that it rarely feels like a slog.

The open world is to me what BOTW was to others. Unlike when I played BOTW it feels like there is interesting stuff absolutely everywhere. Of course with the scale the level of quality is uneven, but I think it has added a lot to the overall game.
Oh and some of the recycled bosses are lame. Ulcerated tree spirit was intimidating the first few encounters, than they started popping up everywhere.
I mean I encountered 4 foreskin apostles before I actually came across it as a mandatory boss. Even 2 at once
